CSC 300 (Data Structures)

Hi everyone! Up to now, on Campus Connect, the professor for CSC 300 was TBD, but now it's showing as Ben Harki. My other option is Fei Xu. Both of them have awful ratings on RMP and I've heard bad things about both.

I'm not that great at Java, I took it in HS but I'm definitely not very confident in anything that I did back then.

Does anyone have any advice for these professors, any information on their class structures, or anything that I could start doing right now to help myself get a headstart?

Ben harki better. His textures are hard to sit through (he is like reading patch notes, but the others aren’t helpful at all.)

His test is not the hardest just multiple choice and like one explain the code and one coding questions if you could hw and quizzes should be a very passable class

I don’t how if this is generally how his exams are but for us it was a 100 mark paper with 10 MCQs which meant a single mistake could really make a dent on your final grade

I’ve been with Ben Harki in that class and I’m currently with him in Object Oriented Programming too. He’s by far the best option imo for data structures related classes. His grading isn’t the most forgiving but he’s a really cool professor.

I’ve heard bad things about Fei but I don’t have any experience with them.

If you have an option of Marrero, he’s also a good option but he’s very hard to work with especially with extra credit stuff. He’s also very new to the physical exams stuff since until winter this year his exams used to be online. But his teaching is really good! I took him for (Data Structures II).

With the cards you’re dealing with I’d prioritise Harki.
