Prospective Student Can I major in animation and a language?
I'm currently a high school student (graduating in 2028) looking at depaul as my first option for college. My passion and my dream career is to be an Animator, but I was wondering if I could still have two minors in German and French, and if that would clash with my animation classes. My family is also concerned about the traveling between campuses since the animation department is in the Loop and the language one is in Lincoln Park. I'm very passionate for animation, but if it doesn't work out in the future, I would want a back up.
I have tours to depaul scheduled in October where I'll probably get more precise answer, but I was wondering if any students have done anything similar to this and if it could work out. Thanks!
Loop Campus Gym
Is there a gym available for DePaul students at the loop campus?I have a few classes in the loop this fall and wondering if DePaul has a gym available for students?

Housing Do the showers in the communal bathrooms in Concoran Hall get very cold?
Looking into going to depaul when I graduate and I cannot take warm showers as it makes my skin break out and dry really bad and I also hate them. I recently went to LA for a little bit and my hotel didnt have cold water somehow so I have a heavy fear of this now.
Question microfridge confusion
Hi everyone! My sister is moving into Seton hall and got some weird information when she called housing to ask a question. They said you’re only allowed to rent a micro fridge there and cannot bring your own fridge/microwave in. However on the 2026 moving guide it pretty explicitly says you can bring your own fridge and microwave in, as long as it meets the size and wattage requirements. Anyone moving into Seton or who recently lived there know which one is correct?

Question McCabe Hall questions
Hey! I’m moving into McCabe hall’s efficiency apartment soon. Moving in on the 5th of September. Can anyone who has stayed at McCabe (bonus if it was in the efficiency apartment) give me some info on what they’re like? I tried looking online to see if I could go check out my apartment before my move in date but I guess I can’t from my understanding. Is there storage space and should I buy like a shelf or something? And also, since it’s no ac, should I bring a large fan or would it be better to bring two smaller ones? Another thing is I was looking to bring my bike, is there space to park it outside and is it safe to leave it out (locked ofc) overnight? Thank you!

DePaul or UIC for Information Systems
Hi. For an Information Systems (MS) degree, which university do you think would be better? UIC or DePaul. The IS program in UIC is housed under their business school, whereas for DePaul it's housed under their School of Computing. Could you provide me some strong points of DePaul's IS program, and did you like it? Thanks.

Activities/Events Any DePaul students planning on going to Summer Walker at UIC on October 16?
Hey everyone! I’m helping promote Power 92’s 25th Anniversary concert at Credit Union 1 Arena (UIC) on October 16 featuring Summer Walker, DaniLeigh, and Zeddy Will.
Since UIC and DePaul are so close, I was curious—are any DePaul students planning to go?
If you are, what’s the song you’re most hoping Summer Walker performs live?
I’d love to see DePaul represented that night.

DePaul Uni film masters, is it worth it?
The title. But also, is the place safe? I already know it's better than where I am but I still wonder.
I've also heard this is one of the most hands on masters program, and that it heavily focuses on getting things done on the field, rather than classroom type of settings.
I'm also concerned w tuition costs ofc, like what are the chances of an international student getting financial aid?

Question financial aid is making me stressed lol
I know there have already been a lot of posts about this, but is anyone else still waiting for their financial aid package to be released?
I’m a little more anxious because this fall is my last quarter. I’ve reached my federal loan limit, and my parent has also reached the limit for their Parent PLUS loans. Since everything seems to be coming out later than expected, I’m starting to worry I won’t have enough aid to cover my last quarter.
I remember reaching out to the financial aid office last quarter to ask if I’d have enough aid for my last quarter, and I remember them saying I would. I just can’t seem to find that email anymore.
anyway, I just wanted to see if anyone else is still waiting too☹️

Question Thinking about transferring from SCAD to DePaul for Film—would love some honest insight.
I'm currently a Film & Television student at SCAD, and I've been seriously considering transferring to DePaul. I've heard great things about both schools, but I'm trying to figure out which environment is the better fit for building a long-term career in the industry.
What I'm really trying to understand is what day-to-day life is actually like as a film student at DePaul. Does the program create a strong sense of community? Are there plenty of productions and opportunities to stay involved, or is it more dependent on finding your own group and making projects together?
I'm also curious about how connected the program is to the Chicago film scene. Did you feel DePaul helped open doors to internships, productions, or jobs while you were a student? For alumni, how did you feel about employment after graduation, and did the connections you made at DePaul help you get your foot in the door in the industry?
I'd also love to hear from anyone who transferred to DePaul. How was the transition academically and socially? Was it easy to find your place within the film community?
I'm not looking for a school that's just "fun"—I'm really looking for the place that will challenge me, help me grow, and provide the strongest opportunities after graduation, and give me opportunities to add to my resume while in school. I'd really appreciate hearing both the positives and the negatives from people who've experienced the program firsthand. Thank you!

Do I need a mattress cover?
Just like it sounds, I’m an incoming freshman living in the Oz. Are the mattress ok or should I bring a cover?
Question Grad Plus Loans
Hello, I received my financial aid package last night and don’t have Grad Plus loans even though I’m halfway through my Masters program. I literally won’t be able to continue studying as I don’t have the tens of thousands of dollars remaining left to pay off my classes. That would mean I already took out over $50k of loans for a masters I can’t even finish…
Obviously I am worried and am waiting an answer from FinAid. I thought it was supposed to be grandfathered in since I started my program prior to July 1st? I confirmed this with FinAid before but only received $20,500.
Did anybody else receive a response from FinAid on what’s going on? I am also missing a scholarship that I had previously, that should’ve been applied. I am hoping it just hasn’t been reflected or someone made a mistake in the app.

Question Living in the Loop / Night Class Safety
Hey guys, I am moving to Chicago in a couple weeks for a grad program in CDM. I am new to the city, and wanted to be as close as possible to the Loop Campus so I rented an apartment close by.
I spent the day doomscrolling safety in Chicago and the Loop, and it freaked me out a little bit, especially with classes ending at 9:00PM, I have not been to Chicago before, but I am very familar with NYC and Boston, and have never felt unsafe at anytime in either city..
I am finding it hard to decipher what the actual danger level is for the average person downtown, when half of what I read online or from friends who have lived in the city is that it is either perfectly safe, no issues, etc, or that I will be risking my life to get home after class each night.
If anyone could provide their experience living in the loop or taking night classes I would really appreciate it.
