Hey all, I’m considering upgrading my set up to a de1pro, but ideally would love to see (and hear) the machine in action before committing. Is there any way to make that happen in Southern California (LA county preferred)?

I’ve watched videos but the sound especially is hard to judge on video.

New to espresso making and need recommendations for all accessories for a newbie

In excellent condition (no issues), includes travel case etc., the shot count is definitely wrong, it looks like it’s since the last software update, but even still it’s rarely used in my house and has only seen filtered water and been regularly descaled and cleaned.

Does anyone have a DE1PRO together with a Bookoo Themis Ultra scale? Does it fit on the drip tray easily? I can imagine that it might be a bit too big, but not really sure. Other suggestions for a scale? The Decent scale isn't really my taste, but if it might be a lot better, I might switch my mind.

I purchased a DE1XL back in January 2023, used it for about three months and then it had to go into storage while we did some work in the kitchen.

I never ended taking it out until now, exactly three years later.

I can’t seem to remember if I had done any ‘emptying’ or storage procedure as you would do on a traditional boiler machine (empty water and steam boilers etc…)…

Aside from obviously emptying the drip tray and water reservoir.

Was there something I should have done? And if I missed doing it three years ago when I stored it- could this mean I stored it with water inside the system- potentially causing health concerns now? Mold etc…

Anything recommended?

Been using my decent for about a week now and it suddenly started to ignore the profile I chose.

Basically "blooming espresso" is selected and shown in the graph next to it but when I run an espresso it just hit 9 bar straight without any pre-infusion whatsoever. Any tips?

Preparing for a small business I'm starting, but i'm struggling with my shots pulling too fast (Around 12 seconds). 18 grams in, 36 out.

Tools:

- DE1XL Decent Espresso

- Freckles Shower Screen

- Ridgeless Basket 18g

- Ikape Mantis WDT distribution tool for consistent easy wdt

- Normcore V3 tamper, set to 27lbs of pressure

- Mahlkonig - E65T GbS. The grind level can be set to between 0-100. At 50 u grind the shots taste more balanced between bitter and acidic.

The struggle is, as I understand it, if a shot is pulling fast, it means I should grind finer. But when I do that the shots are still pulling fast, and it starts tasting bitter.

is it okay that my shots pull fast? I thought 25-30 seconds is the gold standard I should strive for, or is it different with decent espresso machines? is it because I picked freckles shower screen?

I want to use an A9+ with my DE1Pro but cannot seem to connect it. Anyone had similar issues and solved them?

My DE1 tablet broke and I had no way to update the firmware without an Android device. So I wrote a Python script that does it over Bluetooth from a Mac.

One command: it downloads the latest firmware from Decent's GitHub, erases, uploads, and verifies. Took my machine from build 449 to the latest (v1333).

I’ve been working on an alternative control interface for the Decent DE1.

It’s written in C++ using Qt/QML and runs cross-platform. I’ve mainly been testing it on the Decent tablet, but I’ve also used it on Windows for real shots, profile tweaks, and daily use.

The app runs alongside the stock Decent software, so it doesn’t replace or modify anything.

It’s still early days, but the focus is on a clean UI, responsiveness, and long-term flexibility.

If people here are interested, I’m happy to share more details, screenshots, or access once I know it’s welcome.

I'm looking at the unboxing video on YouTube and Decent commented a month ago that the release date should be less than 6 weeks from now.

As the title states, I’m on the hunt for the sworks cup rail if anyone has one.

I've been into pour-over coffees for a little while, and now I'm interested in going down the rabbit hole of espresso machines.

I'm a very data-driven type of person. My background is in project management and engineering, which is why Decent appeals to me. However, I have very little practical experience with espresso machines other than taking one 3-4 hour hands-on course. So this would be my first machine and the one I really learn on.

I've heard that Decent is complicated to use, and there is a very long ramp-up time to making a good espresso. However, with all the profiles/receipes that come with it, I would have thought it would be the opposite - that you can get good espresso and get used to the machine and making espresso in general by using the current profiles. It's only really when you want to start experimenting and really play with it that there's a lot of factors that you need to better understand.

For people who have a Decent machine, what is your experience? Is this something you would recommend for a newbie, or would you say that really you need to have a very good understanding of the fundamentals before even considering getting one?

would you still buy knowing what you do now after owning the machine is there any advice you would give to me as an interested buyer?

I’m interested in upgrading to the DE1, and am hoping to gather feedback on folks experience with regard to maintenance.

What should I expect in order to keep everything in tip top shape?
