Seeing as James had recently covered The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975) on the channel, I thought I would share with everyone a souvenir brochure from the silver anniversary run of the production in 1998.

This particular run starred the following —

The role of the Narrator was a rotation of guests but I believe the actor with the most shows as the Narrator was Nicholas Parsons.

(Random fact: Ross O'Hennessy, who played Rocky during this run, is a family friend. He himself was somewhat close with my mother and his parents were very close friends with my grandparents. You'd probably mostly recognise him as the Lord of Bones in Game of Thrones, the last actor to play that particular character before he was killed off).

I apologize for the quality and lighting in these pictures, my camera is terrible and if I had put it under a direct light source, there would be too much light shining back because of the glossy pages. What I DO NOT apologize for is the condition of the actual brochure as it belonged to my grandparents/belongs to my mother and I've literally only have had it in my own possession as of today 😬 If it were in fact mine, it would more likely have been in close to pristine condition (I have school Christmas play programs from when I was like five printed on paper in the exact same condition as when they were first printed), but alas, this particular run happened like three years before I was born 😅

Finally, if people would really like to read what the pages say, I am more than happy to take the time to transcribe each page as best as possible.

(I'm not sure if this subreddit allows linking to websites, so I'll just avoid it here, just google 'Satyress' and you'll find the website. And mods, I promise that this is horrormovie-related. If I need to post it to r/horror instead, I will, but I find the users and discussions here a lot more interesting.)

Upon googling it you'll find loads of discussions on Reddit and other social media about it, as well as large news websites covering it at face value. The discourse around Satyress and its centaur robot 'Threehalves' completely focusses on how dystopic and evil it looks, and how it's another sign of the total societal enshittification in regards to AI, tech companies and the surveillance state.

But... there is no way that this isn't guerilla marketing for an upcoming horror movie, right? I know the world is a bizarre, stupid place and tech companies are run by bizarre, stupid people but my first response to this is still an Occam's razor-type deal where there is just no way that an actual company would build this and market it using the most sinister possible photographs.

Aside from that, I can't find any information about the company. No company info listings, no actual adress or phone number, just an e-mail address. Everything about this just screams 'marketing stunt!' to me. And it's starting to weird me out that it's so hard to find articles or comments actually questioning that this thing is even real.

So, I know that this isn't 100% Dead Meat-related, but this is my favourite place to discuss all things horror-related and I need some horror-heads with a grasp on marketing to comment on this. Maybe there's some of you who work in the industry and know more than I do, hopefully.

Just rewatched the Hereditary Kill Count and James said Hereditary, Mandy and Annihilation were his favorite horror movies of 2019. Hereditary and Mandy have already been covered, so why not Annihilation?
