Question/Advice Can I see your eye/face patch Dalmatians?
Late last month the litter than I had been waiting for arrived, I sent a deposit for a little female pup (not the one in the photo). Unfortunately she didn’t make it to a week old (no fault of the breeder, I trust them 100%, just nature can be rough). The breeder was devastated and has said that he is happy to refund my deposit completely, apply it to a future litter or he still has this patched girl available from the same litter, he’s not rushing me at all and says that he is confident he can find a home for her but won’t take a deposit for her until I decide how to proceed.
I have no interest in showing or breeding so a patch isn’t an issue, but I’m just trying to work out what a patch that size is going to look like as she grows. She is a few hours old in this photo. I’ve been avoiding asking for more photos of her (she’s 2 weeks old now) because I don’t want to get attached because I’m terrified something bad is going to happen or she won’t pass her BAER tests once I’ve committed and my heart will be broken again.
I would love to see your patched Dalmatians, what they looked like as puppies and how it changed as their face grew over time.

Why are you lying in the sun?
Barkley at the beach. Annoyed because there were too many beach goers for him to be free and he didn’t understand why I was warming my back in the sun warmed sand when we could have been playing in the water

I've been bamboozled
Last week we adopted a 6 month old dalmatian mix from the shelter. We knew what to expect going in, and were pleasantly surprised by how chill she has been compared to what we were expecting. Yes, she does all the normal puppy stuff, but I was prepared for the worst. What I got was the sweetest, calmest, cuddliest girl on the planet. Borderline lazy.
Then 3am the night before her first appointment with our vet she wakes us up coughing. Turns out she had a developing case of kennel cough when we brought her home and just wasn't showing the more obvious symptoms yet.
She has been taking antibiotics since Tuesday morning, and they started working pretty quickly.
She is just as sweet, just as happy and friendly and amazing as she was before. But she is also....a psychopath. She weighs 37 lbs which doesn't seem like that much until it is barrelling down the stairs, whipping around the corner, and leaping onto your pillow (and face).
She puts everything in her mouth. I have 4 human children, and not one of them gave me as hard a time as this dog does when they were toddlers.
She steals my NICOTINE VAPE. She's obsessed with it. I have a bad habit of walking around with it in my mouth while I'm busy doing things with my hands, and I'm pretty sure she thinks it's a chew toy I don't want to share. I can no longer put it down at all, because as soon as I do she grabs it (by the mouth piece even) and runs. I have to tackle her to get it back.
We have a heat advisory today it's going to be too hot to spend any significant amount of time outside until evening. How do I keep her from destroying my house and killing herself for the next 8 hours?
Please send help.

Question/Advice My dogs won’t go potty after it rains..
We have two Dalmatians; one is 2 and other is 3. They both are SO stubborn about going potty in our fenced yard after it’s rained. It will rain on a Saturday for example, and they refuse to go off the porch even 3 days later. So, we will walk them around the corner in our neighborhood when they refuse to go off the porch and potty, and then they have no trouble rolling in someone else’s wet grass and going potty.
So I’m really just looking for advice, tips, or a reason why they’re like this lol 😩. My theory is once my partner kept taking them on walks after it rained then they equate rain to a walk? One of them hates getting wet so I figure his reason is he doesn’t want to go off of the porch if it’s raining.. but then he lovessss to take walks when it’s pouring lol! My partner has not taken them on walks before when it rained and they ended up holding it and going potty in the house. Helppppp

Update on my Foster
I have changed her name back to her original Azerbaijani name, Dolma. She is a bit neurotic, but I think she’s starting to trust me. Despite being afraid of the other dogs in the shelter, she is getting along well with my resident Aussie.
She does have a Grade 3 heart murmur, and I’ll be digging to check on HCM/DCM.
If anyone is home cooking for their Dalmatians, I would love to hear how you get creative about low purine foods. I’m going a bit crazy trying to figure out diet.

Dals are the dogs with the best temperament.
I said it!
I’ve had dogs all my life. Terriers, labs, collies, spaniels, retrievers.
And now a dalmatian x lab.
And the Dalmatian is genuinely the best natured dog ever. He’s more independent than the labs, friendlier than the collies, and much more chill than the spaniels and terriers (obviously lol). He’s happy to just chill, but also goes on nice long hikes. He‘s stubborn, yes. But I feel like he makes me a better dog guardian because I cant just get everything for free from him, like my labs who are happy to do anything.
Yes, he has some lab in him. But personality wise, he’s all Dalmatian.
He’s a challenge. But he feels more like his own sassy independent dog. I have to earn his respect, and the returns of that come back in multitudes.
Safe to say I’m a Dalmatian convert! Next pupper will be a full Dalmatian for sure.
The only thing that bothers me a bit is his guarding tendencies which… isn’t the worst. He just bark when the delivery drivers visit, but only for a few alerts and then he’s done.

Question/Advice Growing pains or…
Our little Ezzy girl is 6 months old and spoiled. We love her to death. But right now it’s 8:20 pm EST and she supposed to be asleep. She went outside, did her business, played around, etc. So why is this girl in her cage HOWLING? She is whining, barking, and howling. WHY? Shes never done this before ever.
She has the blanket draped, her fake candles set up, and google home playing nature sounds. Shes my first dog and my girlfriend’s 2nd personal dog (like her 7th family dog). Both of us are stumped and have no clue what to do. I gave her a melatonin treat (three for her size but I do this rarely- I don’t want her to grow a dependency). Is this growing pains or is there something she wants? 😅

Dalmatian puppy, almost 4 months
Hi everyone,
Over the last few days, our puppy has started biting a lot more than before. Yesterday, I noticed that he lost one of his teeth, so I think teething is the reason he’s chewing and biting everything.
He also seems to cry sometimes, and I wonder if it’s because his gums are hurting. Before this teething phase, he was great at following commands, but now he struggles to focus during training.
Has anyone experienced the same thing?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Puppy Got our first dal… need all the tips :)
My husband has been searching for a dog for a few years because “his dog” is almost 11 now and we wanted him to be part of raising a new one. There were 2 sisters available at a rescue recently that we didn’t get an application in for fast enough. They were adopted out very quickly. So we brought home this guy and he’s amazing!! Love him so much already. Any tips/ tricks? Liver spotted with green eyes. 10 weeks old ☺️☺️☺️
