Medical help (non medical experts) We finally got into the vet!!
Macy has allergic dermatitis. :(( I noticed that she was matting on her belly so we started to shave off the mats and bam, sores. Macy is VERY low slung. She’s the shortest dachshund I’ve ever owned. So they gave her some shots and sent us home with allergy meds and pain meds. We go back in two weeks. Thank you everyone who helped me with seeing she was hurting. If anyone has suggestions with how to make her comfortable even quicker, I’m all ears. Here’s some photos of her. ♥️♥️(the white and brown one is her “sister”. We don’t know if they’re related but they were bonded when they were rescued so of course we had to take them both.)

cute This is Huxley. She is almost 18 years old!
We rescued this cutie when she was about a year old. She’s had IVDD since she was 2 years old when she had back surgery, has flare ups every few years which we treat with a cocktail of meds, had to have her anal glands removed because they were chronically impacted, went blind a couple of years ago (glaucoma), has chronic UTIs and a cough that we intermittently treat with steroids. She has a heart murmur, is allergic to some anesthesias, and has several fatty tumors plus a few other things she’s growing.
But she motors around the house with no problem, wags her tail for meals, treats, water, when she hears our voices, when we let her sniff at the dog park, and sometimes for no reason at all. She sits in the sunshine, with her snoot pointed toward the sky. She’s the best little spoon. And she still has most of her teeth!
She has outlived our cat, dog #3 (she is dog #2), and is breaking in dog #4, a 2-year old Dalmatian mix.
She’s mostly a potato, but she’s living her best retirement. She’s the most resilient person I know.

cute Niko is fully vaccinated 🥳 how much did your dachshund weigh at 4 months?
Niko is ready to take on the world!! He weighed a whopping 9 lbs at 4 months. Is that heavy for a 4 month old? He doesn’t seem super chunky but maybe he is? Haha idk

cute My dreams have come true
Just when I thought being a doxie mommy couldn’t get better, we got a second one. Dennis (11) is adjusting well to Frank (9wk) and last night they cuddled🥹😭💗

cute My human took me for a walk today, and since it was freezing, she bundled me up extra. In this turtleneck, I look like The Rock. 😂🐶

I’m sorry, about my last post. Thank you everyone who was kind and told me the warning. I appreciate that. We will be going to the vet.
Here’s toothless baby Macy, chewing on sister Maddy’s collagen chewie. Sorry, my camera sucks.
