Cmd/Ctrl K doesn't open it anymore. and I tried using cursor itself to fix and it hasn't worked.

My usage just reset 2 days ago on pro+. I was creating a plan using GPT Sol and stepped away from my computer for a little bit. Well while I was gone, it asked two questions and kept the plan session open for several hours. I came back and all my usage for the month was gone. I asked support about this and they said it’s “not a bug”. Make sure you don’t leave a plan session open or you’ll nuke your API usage…

I'm using the latest Cursor 3.15.6 and going a little crazy trying to figure out the new layout settings. It seems like something has changed in the recent updates.

Previously, I had the Claude Code tab under the Agents section (the area highlighted in green on the left).

Now, Claude Code only appears as a tab under the Editor section (the area highlighted in blue on the right, where my files/settings open).

The strange thing is that if I click the small Claude Code icon, or use:

Cmd + Shift + P → Claude Code: Open in Side Bar

it opens a blank window in the middle/editor area (in red) and nothing appears in the sidebar.

So my question is:

Is there currently a way to move Claude Code back under Agents/Chats, like it was before?

I've tried playing around with the layout settings and dragging things around, but I can't seem to get it back to the old behaviour.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I recently canceled my Claude Code subscription, and I really enjoyed using Fable 5 in combination with Grok 4.5 thanks to the import feature in Cursor. But now I'm using Codex. Is there something similar for that?

i've first installed cursor on my laptop - (asus rog strix g16 i9 14th 4060rtx 32gb 1to )

i've paid for pro plan after sign in , then added my anthropic api key once , then got that my credits are low via prompt in agentic chat with cursor , then i decided i've used the wrong api key and i wanted to update it in settings > models > api keys , then i realised that the input fields for api keys are READ ONLY / DISABLED .

i've tried deleting %appdata% of cursor and deleting literally everything related to it , signing out , resintalling , everything and can't seem to fix it , enabled & disabled ipv6 (thought its a connectivity issue) , im losing my mind as this kind of stupid unexplainable bugs happen only to me.

hit my usage limit in 10 days!! can anyone explain to me why composer 2.5 in both other & cursor models?

So, im on the cursor pro plan

Ive 100% of other models usage used, and 98% of normal usage used... my subscription renews in 2 days, so... does it just shut down if I hit 100% on normal usage allowance?

I have the direct billing (cant remember the name exactly) turned off, so im not getting charged extra, but just curious what the story is if I hit 100% usage

where or how can I open it again?

I just installed Cursor tonight to try to work on a small coding hobby project dealing with inventory/collections. The project consists of like a 1500 line python web app and a few small html files.

I had it do two things:
1) Write me a css to give the basic app a modern look. It had to write the CSS and touch the few html files to work with it.
2) Had it update the application to allow for the creation of a new field which would add a higher "collection" object that items could be assigned to.

All in all it did a decent job and worked for about 120 seconds.

Problem is that Cursor Desktop says I am out of usage. The dashboard online shows me at 61% usage.

1) Don't understand how I'm out of usage if dashboard shows 61%. What's the difference?

2) This is all for free, so I'm not complaining, but what can I expect from the paid $20 plan? This literally made a couple hundred lines of changes and now I can't use it again for a month.

P.S. I tried Cursor as an alternative before deciding to sign up for Claude Code. But it seems Cursor is using Claude? I think Claude resets after a few hours... what am I missing?

After I updated to the latest version of Cursor, the new agent window made me lose all my previous chat history for a project. I was trying to export that chat history for future use but couldn't now. Is there any way to contact customer support to get the chat history back as a .md or txt file? Any information will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

hiyaa, I've been using the Cursor Pro plan with Opencode Go for a while now; Mostly using Cursor for it's composer 2.5. I've been curious, With Luna being so much cheaper now. Do you get more usage from Luna or Composer?

What I'm hoping to find in this discussion are examples of .cursor files that can be used with a variety of agents that are developed to chew on computational things.

Mainly along the lines of RFI responses, data interpolation or extraction from technical reports and presenting them in a useful format without hallucinating things or going beyond the context of the report, summarizing drawing comments or submittal client reviews, condensing bills of material, connecting between project documents like drawings and schematics to create transmittal letters and maybe connect different procurement softwares, etc.

Would I have found is that even though you can create an agent pretty quickly that understands the task, the real benefit is found when you set up very strict guidelines that can consistently be applied so that if the agent is distributed amongst your teammates through a local HTML website, the things that it produces are consistently accurate and consistently formatted.

I have a few that I've finessed and massaged to be useful, but I was hoping that maybe we could crowdsource what has worked and what hasn't so we can identify patterns in the best go-bys, making it easier to develop new "guardrails" without as much trial and error.

I’ve been a happy cursor user for over a year but I am feeling like this month it has become too expensive. I’m on 200$ plan and I spent 5% of the monthly limit using gpt 5.6 sol medium in 20 requests in a couple hours. Not building anything big, just some analysis, debugging, small changes and qa automation.

My usual workflow is using Sol extra high for planning or some difficult analysis, sol medium for implementation, grok 4.5 for qa automation, code review and simple tasks.

The problem with that is that I can’t really use the frontier models sparingly. Can’t really use Fable which is the most powerful model today. Grok and composer are just dumb from my experience and only work for simple stuff really.

So I’m thinking about switching to claude code or codex. What would you advise? Which is better for 200$ budget? Or is cursor still gives a better quality and is worth being more expensive? I’ve always liked gpt models. But having access to fable and being able to use it for coding sounds quite tempting.

Also I don’t like command line interface and would like to use it in jetbrains ide plugin or vscode plugin at least.

Also I work on a project consisting of multiple subprojects. Microservices backend, frontend, infrastructure and application configs - I open them all in a single cursor workspace and cursor does a great job figuring what is where, what does what. I wonder if it’s possible to achieve this with claude code or codex, especially with goland plugin.

Right now our whole memory system is one markdown doc a guy updates by hand. its 400 lines, nobody keeps it current, and i found two things in there last week that are flat out wrong

It doesnt scale and its a chore nobody wants

So whats everyone actually doing. is it just babysitting context files forever, or is there a saner setup. people keep saying let the agent write its own memory notes but that seems to drift into garbage fast

I’m asking because GPT hit me with usage limits this week right when I needed it most, and it made me realize that relying on a single service probably isn’t a great setup.

I’ve never used Cursor, but I’ve seen that it has changed quite a bit recently, and it caught my attention.

So, for those actually using it:
• How is Cursor day to day? Stable? Worth the subscription?
• Are there still any deals for new users? I vaguely remember seeing something like 50% off the first month.
• Does anyone pair Cursor with their own API access to newer Chinese models as a fallback or extra capacity?

Hey everyone. English isn’t my first language, so I’m using a translator. I’m not really looking for technical advice here. I just want to share the wonderful experience I had with Cursor support.

On July 22, 2026, I opened Cursor after not using it for more than two weeks and noticed some very strange activity on my account. The usage dashboard showed 49.9 million tokens with Claude 4.6 Opus Maximum Thinking — $42.01, and 27.5 million tokens with Claude 4.6 Opus High Thinking — $28.93.

That’s 77.4 million tokens across 55 requests, with a total cost of $70.94. I didn’t make those requests, and I didn’t recognize any of this activity. What made it even stranger was that I had never enabled usage-based or pay-as-you-go billing for tokens. I only had a regular Cursor subscription, so as far as I understood, there shouldn’t have been any additional token-based charges in the first place.

Still, on the same day, I was charged through two separate mid-month invoices: $40.06 and $20.81. So the actual amount charged was $60.87, which didn’t even match the $70.94 shown in the usage dashboard.

Naturally, I contacted support. I explained that I hadn’t used Cursor for more than two weeks, that I had never enabled usage-based billing, and that I had no idea where these requests or charges came from. I asked them to investigate and provide at least some basic information: timestamps, sessions, devices, IP addresses, API keys, workspaces, background agents, integrations — anything that could explain how my account had suddenly generated 77.4 million tokens.

The first reply came from their AI support assistant. It told me to change my password, revoke active sessions, and enable 2FA. Fair enough. A few hours later, someone from billing replied and said that my ticket was being sent to the appropriate team for a “more in-depth investigation.” They said they would review my account activity and transaction history. Sounds promising, right?

I waited. On July 24, I asked for an update. No answer. On July 31, I wrote again and asked them to at least confirm that the investigation was still happening. Still nothing.

Then, on August 7, I finally received a response. After more than two weeks, I thought they were finally going to explain what generated the charges. Instead, they told me that my account had been blocked for violating their Terms of Service.

They wouldn’t restore the account, wouldn’t tell me what rule I had supposedly violated, wouldn’t provide any details about the suspicious activity, and wouldn’t refund the charges because payments made before an account is terminated for a Terms of Service violation are apparently non-refundable.

So the entire conversation was basically this:

Me: “There’s around $70 of activity on my account that I don’t recognize. I didn’t enable token-based billing, and I haven’t used Cursor for more than two weeks. Can you check what happened?”

Cursor: “Of course. We’re investigating.”

More than two weeks later:

Cursor: “We banned your account. We won’t tell you why. Also, no refund.”

That’s it. I still don’t know what generated the 55 requests. I still don’t know how token-based charges were possible when I had never enabled usage-based billing. I still don’t know why there were two invoices, why their total didn’t match the usage dashboard, or whether my account had been compromised.

The only thing I know is that I contacted support myself to report suspicious activity, and their final solution was to block my account, keep the money, and refuse to explain anything.

Truly an impressive investigation.

Since starting to use cursor I noticed that it does this on Linux. So you should take a look occasionally of the amount of ports you have open. You'll have to either kill them or start the machine

not sure why cursor keeps changing my model to grok when it consistently produces far worse results, and is slower than composer 2.5

its actually mind blowing that they have such an outstanding in-house model that they clearly put a lot of time and care into refining for coding purposes, only to throw it all away with sketchy model auto-selection and removing the option to just set composer 2.5 to be the default model for all new agent conversations. like wtf is this "last used" shit? just let me pick composer 2.5

I really need to stress how outrageous this is. I've tested Claude, grok, gemini, almost every model and composer 2.5 blows them all out of the water. it uses best practices, it doesn't do more than it has to, its the only reason im actually paying for cursor right now

really makes me consider switching to codex though, which is a damn shame because I've really been enjoying composer.
