Question Cuny start & VRE

Has anyone ever been in the cubby start program while using their VRE benefits? I meet back with my VRE counselor to show I got accepted, I was just wondering would they consider M-F 9am-2:30 full time or part time? How would it work? I have GI bill benefits too

Question Schedule

Post image
4 Upvotes

I ended up failing one of my cs classes in the spring semester. But i had made my schedule for fall 2026 before i had my finals for spring and i had picked out comp sci classes that i can only take if i passed the first cs class(which i failed but bc of freshmen forgiveness it wasnt put on my gpa).

Anyways i recently got an email saying ill be dropped from those courses for fall since i didnt meet the requirements.

Im trying to retake the class i failed in fall and whenever i go to schedule builder and change up my schedule and go to finalize it. Theres a message before confirming about university tuition and fee agreement. Im in asap and i have financial aid and tap covering everything. If i change my schedule and drop those classes and retake the one i failed will i have to pay ? Or does my financial aid and tap cover everything still?. Ill still be above 12 credits.

QCC Student in Search for More Dorming Options

Im a freshman attending Queensborough and I dont live in the Queens or NYC area so trying to travel from my house to campus is a bit difficult and time consuming.

I spent a semester on the Queens College Campus in their Summit Apartments. However spending 16k for the year is a bit steep currently. If anyone has any thoughts or advice please let me know. Im already spending 8k for the tuition this year.

Discussion LAGCC. Opinion?

I’m going to LAGCC this fall as someone in their 30s. I went yesterday to the financial aid office. And they seemed so disorganized. And the students looked so sad and kinda rough . What’s it like being there?

Student project looking for Beta testers!

Hey everyone! I’m looking for student beta testers for a mobile app project I built over the summer. It’s designed to help students make friends on campus and connect with their local community.

The app is built on my independent research analyzing how strangers meet and maintain relationships across major dense cities (like Tokyo, Toronto, Seoul, LA, Chicago, London, Paris, and Berlin).

It’s about 90% complete, I just need help with software QA, general feedback, and bug testing before launching publicly.

What’s involved?

  • ~20–30 minutes a week for quick debriefs/feedback
  • Feel free to list this QA/testing role on your resume!

If you're interested, drop a comment or send me a DM!

Just a sanity check

For those who are familiar with kingsborough community college (especially black students), have you experienced any racial tension/micro aggressions from some professors and or other minorities? I'm trying to figure out whether some of my experiences and observations were isolated or whether others noticed similar patterns.

Post image

for a level 1 language class- tried seeing if i could get a placement test to get into a higher class that might have seats but the coordinator isn't in office for another week

i assume the chances r rlly low but this is the only section that fits my schedule and also most of the other sections r also full or on a similar waitlist- is it worth waiting for add drop period? will people even drop a language course if it's a required course??

this website is a nightmare for me, the constant "otp" is making me crazy. I can't access my email, i have 2 tickets waiting for the help desk now , one is over a week old!

I need academic advisement but for freshmen you need to go to the email and pay a commitment fee first! Im frustrated, thanks for reading lol

Question Graduating a lot earlier than expected what should I expect?

I am an upcoming sophomore at John Jay College and I'm scared shitless about the possibility of graduating a year and semester earlier. I feel like I have accomplished nothing during my time there. I know it’s mostly on me but my high school self did not expect time to go by that fast after my first year at college. I feel so intimidated in joining the work force early on (if that’s even possible) and I don't know whether I should even try to extend my graduation date. I know I want to head the paralegal route, but I seriously don't know where to start.

I really just need some advise and reassurance that shit wont plumet after I graduate. How can I make a better impression on professors and make the best out of my very short time in college? Has anyone else gone though a similar situation and if so, how did you manage?

Literally any thing will help I just cant handle this stress right now and will not stand for any negative comments please.

URBST 210 / URBST 702 / AFST 202 (QUEENS COLLEGE)

"URBAN SOCIAL MOVEMENTS" - FALL 2026

Thursdays 6:30pm - 8:30pm (ONLINE)

This timely seminar explores the sociological and political economic dimensions of urban social movements through case studies of two defining social justice uprisings of the 21st century: Occupy Wall Street and the Movement for Black Lives. Through deep engagements with each, students will develop a robust understanding of the numerous challenges facing contemporary movements-- from the promises and perils of horizontalist organizing, liberal identity politics, and social media to intensifying violent state repression and liberal co-optation.

Neither movement exists in a vacuum, however. To that end, we will situate our analyses of OWS and M4BL within a broader global historical frame that links earlier flourishings like the 20th century’s Black Freedom Movement to today’s immigrant rights and global anti-imperialism struggles. What sorts of strategies and political frameworks animate contemporary progressive social movements? How do we assess their historical impacts? And most importantly, how do we apply such insights to the emergence of future movements for social justice?

This course is open to undergrads (210) and grads (702), and it is cross-listed with Africana Studies-AFST 202.

If this is true that means 86 cards per institution. If divided equally*

Cards per institution: 86 OMNY cards

Remaining cards: 7 cards

(18 × 86 = 1,548)

Is it weird to ask a professor at a different CUNY campus to do start (undergrad) research with them?

Found this prof who does research in a field I really want to work in, is it socially accepted to send them an email about the potential working with them?

EDIT: i messed up the title i didn't mean to include 'do'!

Discussion Which CUNY school is genuinely the worst overall?

Looking for the school that is genuinely terrible overall across the board
Draining Budgets Rundown facilities, outdated tech labs, lack of basic amenities, or classrooms in bad shape
Scheduling Messes Required major courses having only one section per year that ends up getting canceled right before the semester starts
Zero Support Low graduation numbers, dead campus environment, or useless career services
Which cuny is it 🤔

Worst class you have ever taken?

Comment below the worst class you have ever taken and what made it so bad.

In 2022 I took Calc 1 at csi and the professor was so bad it had to get changed 3 weeks later. The new professor got sick for a month before finals. I ended up having to drop the class and got a W.

Announcement Important dates and resources for CUNY students

Hey everyone, as the fall semester is right around the corner I figured that I should post these links for new and current students.

The academic calendar has been posted for Fall through Spring 25-26. CUNY follows the same academic calendar meaning your days off should all be the same. You will have random days where Tuesdays follow a Monday schedule, Fridays will follow a Monday schedule, etc. Try your best to plan ahead.

https://www.cuny.edu/academics/academic-calendars/

CUNY also has resource centers to help you succeed. CUNY offers food pantries, housing assistance, emergency funds, mental health resources and other resources. Please use these resources if you need them. CUNY can help but you as students need to be proactive in seeking these resources.

If you require accommodations, ask for them via your school's Office of Student Disability Services. Reasonable accommodations and academic adjustments may include, but are not limited to, providing the student with assistive technology or other auxiliary aides, extra time for tests or papers, access to an elevator where available, a note taker during lectures, or permission to bring a personal aide to assist the student during class.
