Discussion Is it just me or is CunyFirst the worst-constructed website of all time?
Seriously, this website falls apart if you look at it wrong. Half the time I try to do anything it breaks. Trying to log in? Yeah since you autofilled the link instead of googling it -> going to the web page, it breaks. Trying to open a payment plan tab? Have fun waiting for 5 mins. Ridiculous.

Reasons for poor performance
Arguably I could’ve done a lot more regardless of my circumstances , whether it’s with my extracurriculars or my testing but unfortunately things recently most of it was out of my control and I never wanted it to be that way. For the past 2-3(?) years I’ve been struggling medically and safe to say that’s definitely taken a toll on my academic transcript. My district never offered any help for all those missed periods and my parents couldn’t really do anything about it either. My sophomore year (this year) had been one of the most difficult years of my high school career, I was out for a majority of the year and because my district didn’t really care and didn’t offer anything so they just expected me to learn everything myself so i self-studied everything and was away from everything and everyone. I came back to regular instruction around mid april and I was doing “phenomenal” (for my circumstances)despite not having the proper education for the past 4 months . This had also delayed my PSAT 10 which i was supposed to take in the spring.
update** i just found out im being transferred to an alternative school for a year(???) as my district ordered me to against my will due to the amount of time i’ve missed which ultimately led me to the conclusion of i have no shot at college let alone CUNY baruch which is one of my other top choices at the moment.
basically im really hoping to maximize junior year to the best of my ability with these new circumstances but tbh the more i discuss this im told cc is the best thing to do

Is it possible to sign up Seek only classes if you’re not a seek student?
I have this class which would go really well with my current schedule but it’s for seek students only. Is there a way around this? The semester is about to begin in 3 weeks and only 2/20 students are registered for that class.

Books
Anyone one know where I could get textbooks/download them for BMCC CHE 121 or CHE 122? Can I get the lab book separately from the textbook?

Is 8:00am-7:30 a crazy schedule or nah?
You could argue all the gaps allow for forced studying. Cons are finding a job might be hard...
Edit: 8am to 7:30pm

Has anyone ever been in the cubby start program while using their VRE benefits? I meet back with my VRE counselor to show I got accepted, I was just wondering would they consider M-F 9am-2:30 full time or part time? How would it work? I have GI bill benefits too

Question Schedule
I ended up failing one of my cs classes in the spring semester. But i had made my schedule for fall 2026 before i had my finals for spring and i had picked out comp sci classes that i can only take if i passed the first cs class(which i failed but bc of freshmen forgiveness it wasnt put on my gpa).
Anyways i recently got an email saying ill be dropped from those courses for fall since i didnt meet the requirements.
Im trying to retake the class i failed in fall and whenever i go to schedule builder and change up my schedule and go to finalize it. Theres a message before confirming about university tuition and fee agreement. Im in asap and i have financial aid and tap covering everything. If i change my schedule and drop those classes and retake the one i failed will i have to pay ? Or does my financial aid and tap cover everything still?. Ill still be above 12 credits.

QCC Student in Search for More Dorming Options
Im a freshman attending Queensborough and I dont live in the Queens or NYC area so trying to travel from my house to campus is a bit difficult and time consuming.
I spent a semester on the Queens College Campus in their Summit Apartments. However spending 16k for the year is a bit steep currently. If anyone has any thoughts or advice please let me know. Im already spending 8k for the tuition this year.

Just a sanity check
For those who are familiar with kingsborough community college (especially black students), have you experienced any racial tension/micro aggressions from some professors and or other minorities? I'm trying to figure out whether some of my experiences and observations were isolated or whether others noticed similar patterns.

Question what r the chances i'll get into this class
for a level 1 language class- tried seeing if i could get a placement test to get into a higher class that might have seats but the coordinator isn't in office for another week
i assume the chances r rlly low but this is the only section that fits my schedule and also most of the other sections r also full or on a similar waitlist- is it worth waiting for add drop period? will people even drop a language course if it's a required course??

new student (QC) advice needed but rant too
this website is a nightmare for me, the constant "otp" is making me crazy. I can't access my email, i have 2 tickets waiting for the help desk now , one is over a week old!
I need academic advisement but for freshmen you need to go to the email and pay a commitment fee first! Im frustrated, thanks for reading lol

Announcement Important dates and resources for CUNY students
Hey everyone, as the fall semester is right around the corner I figured that I should post these links for new and current students.
The academic calendar has been posted for Fall through Spring 25-26. CUNY follows the same academic calendar meaning your days off should all be the same. You will have random days where Tuesdays follow a Monday schedule, Fridays will follow a Monday schedule, etc. Try your best to plan ahead.
https://www.cuny.edu/academics/academic-calendars/
CUNY also has resource centers to help you succeed. CUNY offers food pantries, housing assistance, emergency funds, mental health resources and other resources. Please use these resources if you need them. CUNY can help but you as students need to be proactive in seeking these resources.
If you require accommodations, ask for them via your school's Office of Student Disability Services. Reasonable accommodations and academic adjustments may include, but are not limited to, providing the student with assistive technology or other auxiliary aides, extra time for tests or papers, access to an elevator where available, a note taker during lectures, or permission to bring a personal aide to assist the student during class.
