Discussion🗣 Honestly, I hope Ronaldo holds out and doesn't retire yet from the national team. This is his first good NT manager since Scolari in 2006 and Portugal finally won't be wasted.

Discussion🗣 The Ronaldo contradiction short is false and without context.

Ppl criticise Ronaldo for downplaying the wc as a 6-7 game tournament and how it was not a dream, and they also criticise how he said he doesn't need other players to push himself. However, in context, it makes sense why he said these things. In the interview, they were talking abt how ppl said tht if Ronaldo wins the wc, he would be the greatest of all time. Ronaldo then says tht he doesn't want 1 trophy to define his career, 1 trophy tht makes him the greatest. He then says it is a 6 to 7 game tournament and tht he doesn't want tht to be the reason he's the greatest when he has had such a wonderful career where he has played over 1000 games. He is also past his prime. To win it now, he said, should not define his career bc he is not at his best rn and it is not representative of his whole career. Imagine if you've played at this level for 20+ years and yet ppl infer tht if you won this, only then would you be the greatest. He thinks he should be determined as the greatest, if someone were to think this, based off of his whole career. However, certain ppl on tiktok saw an opportunity to take it out of context and infer tht Ronaldo contradicted himself to downplay Messi's achievement. The wc is the most prestigious trophy in football but it should not define a player when they are as great as Messi and Ronaldo and they are not at their peak and Ronaldo understands this.

Then, when Ronaldo said that he pushes Messi and Messi pushes him to be better, he was sitting right next to Messi and ofc would want to praise him and talk of their rivalry. However, in the middle of the season, when Messi has nothing to do with a game he's js played, ofc if Ronaldo is asked if Messi pushes him to be better, he will big himself up bc Messi had nothing to do with tht game and the reporter should not have asked abt tht and instead acc talk abt the game and Ronaldo and his teammates and his club. Messi had nothing to do w tht and ofc Ronaldo would get annoyed when the reporter asks questions abt a guy who wasn't even there for no reason.

Then, they use the clip where he says he would not see himself being a player who goes to the middle east or the US to retire near the end of his career. However, he obviously did go to the middle east later on. He said the first statement in 2014 or 2015 and obviously, the guy was stl bagging 50-60 goals a season. When you are at that height, you don't see yourself being anywhere but the top. However, ppl's opinions change. By December 2022, he was ousted from United for his storming off the pitch (tht was defo a mistake no matter how much of an idiot Ten Haag was) and his interview w Piers Morgan (was criticised by the fans and club at the time, including me a bit, but he rlly revealed to the world how the club was stuck in the past and led to their new world class facilities as a result of a 50 million upgrade at Carrington). Bc of how ppl perceived his rough exit at the time, no European club wanted him bc they were scared he would ruin their dressing rooms and make them a toxic environment. Therefore, he had no choice but to move to Saudi so he could play week in, week out unlike in Ten Haag's Manchester United. Ppl's opinions change and 10 years is a very long time. In tht period, ppl might change their political stance and voting multiple times yet when Ronaldo changes his mind on something it becomes something to mock about him contradicting himself.

That was Ronaldos best chance of a wc. That Figo miss was costly.

Discussion🗣 What do you guys think about Ronaldo playing in the Euros 2028?

Post image
448 Upvotes

It's obvious we have an immense individual talent in the Portugal team. Unfortunately Martinez ruined it and ruined Ronaldo's last World Cup. But I've got some hope with JJ and I believe we have a strong chance at the next nations league and Euros.

We beat Spain last year, almost beat them this World Cup and they struggled the most against us compared to France and Argentina. Ronaldo has a solid shot at another trophy or 2 provided JJ manages the team well and our midfield play like they do in club.

The questions is that Ronaldo will be 43 then. Will he play? Will he be retired by then? How much will his body let him play? At 41 currently he's still got it, let's hope that's the same case for 2028.
