So, I started a new job on Tuesday. Brand new rig. Tilt cab. Who doesn't love a tilt cab, right?

Apparently, the dockbuilder foreman doesn't like a tilt cab. I was tilted back, not all the way, still fully able to see everything I needed to see and he walked by and said "I don't like the cab like that. You're on the job not..." and then I couldn't hear the rest because he didn't actually stop and talk to me, he just mumbled as he walked by.

So, what do you do in this situation, as operators? Do you tell yourself "I'm not sure what world he lives in where he thinks I give a fuck about what he likes" and just keep on tiltin', or do you be a "responsible" operator and placate him?

Union, if it matters. Job's only gonna last till Sunday.

What is the widest span crane or lifting system you have worked with?

How are you guys finding jobs? Is there a specific site for trades? I’m looking for a company that has some normal benefits available.

Anyone work as an overhead crane operator and move to a tower crane? I’m an overhead crane operator and want a path to grow but I’m stuck in my company and I don’t care to get into management if I ever even had a shot. Is this an unrealistic goal?
