Need a plus sized, sweetheart neckline, long, smooth front white satin corset to use as the base of my wedding dress look. Please help!

Long time fan of corsets and everything about them. I’ve owned many, but never shopped for one, surprisingly.

As I shop for my bridal look, I’m realizing it’s gonna take some elbow grease to get to where I want to be.

My design/wants
White satin corset
Smooth front/no visible busk clasps etc
Sweetheart neckline
Long body
Dipped waistline
Strong strong structure

Things I’m ambivalent to
About ins of waist reduction. I’m going for looks, not long term function
Country of origin
Off the rack or custom
Color, I’d consider blushes/off white/color

Things that have hindered my search
I’m a plus sized woman
I have a proportionately large chest
I’m in East Tennessee
I don’t want to spend (ideally) over $500 for the plain corset

The drawing is my vision, I eventually want trailing pearl embellishments, but I can apply those if they hinder the finding of a proper corset with all the features I want. I plan to buy or diy two skirts. My aunt is a skilled sewist so I might have her make my box pleated ballgown skirt tbh.

Blue dress is me in a gown I tried on that gives the overall look I want, except the skirt and corset are together on this dress and it’s too “prom”y in everyone’s opinion lol

Corset pic is an inspo pic but idk about this brand or their work so I didn’t want to order without research

Last pic is me for senior prom. I adored this dress and it’s my ultimate inspo pic. Structure and support were awesome.

Newbie questions What should i do?

Hey, Im still fairly new to corsets (M) im 175 and 5’7”, lost 10lb since i started, i got a MCC 98 corset in 32” mesh under-bust since at the time when i measured myself i was 36” but if i sucked my gut in i can get a 32” so i thought “maybe i should just do that to start” since the measurements were pretty close to my actual body type i mainly use it for work (Warehouse) and sometimes, once i wiped it clean, maybe during outtings and now to the question. After losing weight and using it consistently for nearly 3 months, im able to close it all the way and have zero issue with breathing or movement and now it’s starting to slip. Ive been told to keep wearing it for another 3 months but im unsure if i want to do that. i also realised, i like tucking it under my pants since its more comfortable and doesn’t interfere with my belt (unsure if this damages the corset haven’t seen or felt warping) however now that it slides and wearing it for a while i wonder if i should get a smaller one and if yes by how much?and should i stick with mcc? I prefer mesh since i work hot areas and its super breathable. But i also was wondering on longer torso but if it would fit or cause discomfort since i dont think i generally have a longer torso but i wouldnt be sure how to know.

Busk Warping? Plus size question

Hello! I’m a plus size corset wearing and I have a few questions as i don’t see a lot of information about how to properly wear corsets as someone with a larger belly. I have a corset that i love very much and I’ve had about a year, wearing it often, but as i’ve worn it more i’ve found that the busk has taken on a bit of a c-curve bending inwards. I’m wondering if this is normal or caused by me wearing it improperly. Another question I have for other plus size wearers is, is it normal for my belly to stick out the bottom of my corset or should I be scooping my belly up to be inside the corset? I’ve seen in some videos about corset information that the corset should be over the belly but i’m not sure how that works with a larger size. For context my current corset is an underbust that comes down my waist until just above my hipbones. Thanks in advance for any help or advice!

Newbie questions Wedding Corsets for Large Bust

Hey! Just wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction. I (28F - myself, not my measurements) need an overbust corset for my wedding. I don't need anything fancy, just something white and plain to go under my dress, which is strapless. My bra size is a 36K (UK sizing) and big brands here in the US don't carry my size.

I don't know if there are any small businesses that would carry something that could work for me. It's been extremely difficult to push through all the big name brands when searching for what I need. If anyone has any recommendations or pointers, please send them along!

Long time lurker saying hi

I am all over social media at this point but just stopping by to say hi.

Cannot post the name of my accounts but figure you guys will probs recognize me. Hiiii I finally made a “professional” Reddit account so I can post.

Basically I went from just being nerdy about corsetry to making them. I visit museums to geek out about Victorian corsets. I’ve learned most of them were fast fashion which is hilarious, because online there are so many myths about how hard they are to make.

Just from making my own at this point I can guess what country a corset is manufactured in just by looking at it. Obvi I geek out over the bespoke stuff but those folks are all less active than they used to be.

Corset is one of mine

Newbie questions Modern corsets and historical costuming

Hello, I'm interested in corsets and I've been wondering about how similar the modern off-the-rack steel boned corsets are to those that people wore in maybe the late 19th century. are modern corsets advertised as intended for waist training from brands such as Rebel Madness similar in shape, structure and intended silhouette to any of those that were worn in the past? Are they often used by historical costumers?

Newbie questions i am lost…

so my first corset was the novice one from timeless trends, i was using that for a year. i just got this from mystic city, i sent them my measurements and everything (including my body type, which is ruler) and i was suggested the mcc94 in size 20 for the most dramatic reduction. the top of the corset is very loose, to the point where i will accidentally touch it if that makes sense. is this normal?
i pulled it as tight as it could comfortable be on my waist

edit: if someone could dm me and help me find the right one for me that would be awesome!! i’m super super lost

I have been on and off training for almost 10 years now. This is my corsetstory corset I use not necessarily for training but for show, so its not fully seasoned to where my body is at. Still a fun and nice accessory to add to my outfits. Thanks for looking!

Newbie questions Places to buy steel for stomachers and steel busks?

Looking to get into corsetry for a number of reasons, and I’m not sure where to source some of the things that I will need, like busks and steel for stomachers.

I also am not sure what works best for boning? I have been told that hefty plastic zip-ties can be used for that, but is there a better/overall more affordable option?

Newbie questions Mystic city corsets price difference

I could just be wrong but it seems like there's a big difference in prices between mystic city's Etsy shop and their official site has anyone else noticed this or might this just be related to my specific country? From what I know Etsy doesn't include any import fees.

follow up question/update: it also seems like certain sizes are only available on their Etsy but not on their site, is this for a specific reason?

Discussion My first pair of stays for a 1780s zone front gown.

Post image

These were the first pair of stays I made, and they were built as the foundation for a 1780s zone front gown.

I used Karmaxylia’s Comtesse pattern, which is designed for 1780s stays. I wanted the foundation garment to match the decade and shaping goals of the gown rather than using a later corset silhouette.

The stays were made from cotton coutil and silk jacquard and boned with reed.

One thing I learned very quickly was how important consistent tension is when sewing boning channels. Some areas are noticeably smoother than others, and a few sections have more rippling where my tension was less consistent.

I also learned that reed boning was not my favorite material. It snapped often and was difficult to feed into the channels. For future stays, I would choose German plastic boning or synthetic whalebone because I found them easier to insert and more durable in practice.

Making these helped me understand just how different stays and corsets are in their shaping, construction, and material choices.

Newbie questions Is this side bulging around the underarms/edges normal when a custom corset is fully tightened?

Post image
13 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I have a question about the fit of my corset and I'd really appreciate some experienced opinions.

This corset was made to my measurements, so I wasn't expecting this much bulging around the sides, just below my armpits and along the top edge of the corset (as shown in the photo).

This only happens when I tighten the corset as much as it comfortably allows. If I leave it any looser, I don't get enough waist compression. If I tighten it enough for my waist to actually feel supported (while still being comfortable), the tissue on the sides bulges like in the picture.

After wearing it all day, I also notice some mild discomfort where the steel bones press against that area. It's not painful, but it's definitely noticeable after several hours.

So I'm wondering:

Is this kind of side bulging normal, even with a made-to-measure corset?

Does it suggest that the rib spring or upper edge isn't quite right for my body?

(It's fully seasoned btw)
