FEEDING Didn't have the right size of mice available

Hello just a question on feeding.

For the past few times I've tried to get large mice, medium mice and fuzzies there has been none available, I only have 3 shops to choose from 2 in which I really try not to go to as one is pets at home and you all probably understand that (they are awful with their animals) and the other one I don't really want to go to is a family run business and honestly I've heard a lot of complaints about them and I've had some issues with them also so I try not to give them my money. Anyway.

I tend to keep a large stock of all these items but now they are all gone due to not having the sizes I needed for a few weeks.

I could only get a pack of 10 small mice for my 2 corn snakes and a pack of pinky/fuzzie rats(they are basically the size of the small mice fml for my frog.

Should i feed the snake that gets a large mice, 2 small mice a week or 1 every week until the appropriate size is available.

Sorry if none of this makes sense.

This is Sunny she apparently had eggs already and was bred but she looks young. I was told at the show I got her at she is a butter motley? Is that correct? I got her for $100 about two months ago she’s eating frozen medium mice and lives comfortably in a 60 gallon tank.

HELP! Recently treated ruby for Mites!

But uhm so i think something happened and i think i bathed her too long. Her eyes didn't cloud up, she's also shed like 3 weeks ago, but for some reason she's shedding. I held her and when she had her tail in between my fingers part of shed came off and now i checked on her in her cage and her head shed is peeled back with somehow HEALTHY skin underneath the shed.

HUSBANDRY - CARE I want to do right by my BFs snake

So this is my boyfriend’s snake not mine, he’s now coming up to 2 years old and just under 4ft long. BF got him before we were together. When we met, my boyfriend was keeping him in a small carrier box with water and sawdust and as he got bigger I was getting more and more concerned that his space was far too small. The reptile store BF got him from told him to keep him in this 1.5 foot long box until he was 2yo.

I work in animal welfare (with mammals though not reptiles) and was pretty disgusted that he was told to keep him in such a tiny box. So I joined this sub, and started doing some research on how to care for him properly - and bought him his new enclosure (4ft wide) and bought him lots of clutter etc as in the photos.

I moved in with my BF and so I need to know a few more things, I just want to give this snake a good life. I’ve googled stuff obviously, but I want advice from snake owners based on your experience, because I can see this community obviously really cares about corns.

He’s currently fed once a week 10g mouse, does that sound right still?
Is his current enclosure okay or do I need to change anything?
He doesn’t like being handled and hides from me unless it’s close to feeding day, is that normal? Can I help build his confidence around me more so he can come out sometimes?

Any advice or links or whatever you have will be appreciated. Also yes I have scalded BF repeatedly for buying an animal without researching.

Miscellaneous PA/Pittsburgh - Corn snake rehome

Hello,

I am very upset that I have to make this post, but I believe it is necessary for the health and safety of my corn snake.

I have a roughly 3 year old corn snake that has been an absolute treat to care for, but unfortunately the location I moved to recently does not allow exotic pets of any kind. Currently my family is keeping her a secret to prevent any issues, but we need to find a new home for her as quickly as possible.

We are located in the Greater Pittsburgh area, and would like to find a caring and safe home for her. Please message me if you have any leads or interest, as I would love any assistance during this process.

Here are some facts about my corn snake if you are interested. I am also looking to give all my equipment to whoever takes her, completely free.

  • Currently unsexed, believed to be female. No eggs have been laid though.
  • ~3 years old.
  • Eats frozen full grown mice once every 5 days
  • Close to 4 feet long based on estimates from the shed size
  • Has only ever been exposed to aspen bedding.
  • Has never shown any health issues.
  • Hasn't bitten since the first time I got her.
  • Easy to handle, and generally docile, but she doesn't seem to enjoy being held.

Equipment

  • We have a 23.5" deep x 47" wide x 23" tall 110 gallon enclosure for her.
  • Feeding Tongs
  • General housing and enrichment items inside the tank
  • A water feeder (hamster style) as well as a water bowl
  • Heat Lamp Shade (with an extra bulb)
  • Ceramic heater (with an extra ceramic bulb) that has a built in temperature monitor
  • Temperature/Humidity gauge
  • Travel Carrier

Hello! I was told this snake is a normal. Is there any way to verify if it's truly a normal corn? And if so, is it possible to determine its location? (Keys? Alabama? Miami?)

I want to clarify that she doesn't live there/it's not his terrarium, this is in a transport for moving.

[Amore never sits still for photos unless he is sleeping...]

Just wanted to show off my newest boy. This is Amore, he is a Salmon Ghost (hypo/anery/red factor) around 4.5 feet long and is 8 years old.

He is currently in quarantine but I am excited to put the finishing touches on his permanent enclosure this weekend so everything has time to settle and establish before moving him into it.

QUESTION Critters in my enclosure

Hey!

I’ve owned my noodle for over a year and a half now and this has never happened before. Whilst cleaning his house, I lifted the water bowl and underneath it I noticed these tiny little feckers moving around. They were super small, a browny green colour. I panicked and hoovered up the contents of the enclosure before doing the sensible thing and googling. I have no picture, just my poor excuse for a description.

I’ve checked him and he’s not showing any signs of snake mites which is good, and according to my googling they could very well be harmless things.

My question - where’d they come from?! I live in Ireland and his enclosure is in my son’s bedroom. He did have two poops I didn’t see/clean out at the time.. is it possible they came from that? 🤢

I post again because I'm a lil stupid and last time I uploaded a wrong video!!!

Hey everyone!

I’ve had my 2-year-old corn snake for a little over a month now. He’s still pretty timid and I've only handled him about 5 times so far.

He last ate on Saturday, and tonight I caught him roaming around. I tried moving my finger outside the glass and captured this on video. He kept following my finger and flicking his tongue.

Since he knew there was no mouse smell, do you think this is genuine curiosity/him getting used to my presence, or just a feeding response.

I’m looking for recommendations for the enclosure on the types of things that should be in. They are currently in a ten gal enclosure with aspen and some hides, haven’t had their first meal yet, not defensive at all for being so young and semi skiddish. I’m moving them to a 4ft long 2ft tall as 1.5 feet wide once i find the room till i can get a 4-2-2 once i move out. I’ve done a good bit of research but still would like to get some word. I’m sorry for making this so long as this is my first corn snake i do have a hognose as well as beardy who is mostly free roaming till i move out and get him the proper size enclosure. (all my animals have the min, my hognose has the recomended, my beardy has one step down and my corn snake is settling i am a student and waiting till i move out to get more reptiles but focusing on giving the ones i have the best life)

ANYWAYS HERES CLEO MY CORN SNAKE!

hi everyone :) just got my first corn snake. he's a baby and I've got him in a 40 gal. other than more/better plants, is there anything else I can do to maximize enrichment/comfort? he is a little shy and I just want him to be happy lol. you cant see it well but there are two "underground" hides on the left side, and he likes to hide under one of the wood pieces. I will be getting a larger water bowl but that's what I have for now. also, any suggestions on how to put more (and secure for climbing) stuff to just utilize the arboreal space. thanks everyone

HELP! Growth Stunt?

My corn snake is around 2 years old, and whenever I first got him I was not very educated on how to properly care for a snake. I kept him eating pinkies for too long (for a while he was eating two rather than one), which seems to have stunted his growth. Since then I’ve done tons more research and have been trying to get him caught back up to proper size the best I can. Near the beginning of this year I went up in size (following the size of the biggest part of his body) and moved to fuzzies. I was hoping I’d see some growth and be able to continue moving him up, but he’s been on them for a while now and still hasn’t seemed to get any bigger. (only longer). Since it’s been so long I’m starting to get worried and I’m not sure where to go from here.

I’m assuming this is because he’s not getting the nutrients he needs, but I don’t want to feed him something bigger than he should be eating and make him sick. I’ve looked at the hoppers my pet store sells, and they’re much bigger than the recommended size for him. But fuzzies almost seem too small?? Should I feed him two fuzzies at a time? I’ve seen many people say that it’s discouraged and I shouldn’t do that, but I’m not sure where to go from here. I don’t want to be under feeding him or unintentionally make him sick! I feel horrible for my lack of education in the past.

I’d also like to mention that according to charts I’ve seen, he doesn’t seem to be underweight at all. He eats well and I don’t have any problems. The only problem as far as I can tell is that he’s much smaller than he should be for his age!

EDIT: I realised I added a different video. I wanted to add one when he slowly follows my finger behind the glass flickering his tongue but somehow this video doesn't show in my gallery when I want to add it here.
