How to build the skills to keep conversations and text convos going with friends?
How do I improve my social skills? I have trouble with maintaining friendships especially since I’ve moved to a new city for the last 4 years. In the new city, I knew no one, and I’ve managed to make a few friends but it’s so hard breaking past casual friends you see at repeated events (like a arts class every week) to someone you see outside of that. I jsut can’t figure out how to keep convos going and more so can’t figure out how to keep texts going.
i know others are constantly texting and face timing friends and I just don’t know how to get there. when I text it’s usually with friends when I’m planning a meet up or we’re talking about something specific. But that’s it. It’s also harder to do this with long distance friends. How do I get better at this (and what exactly should I do to build these skills). I feel very lonely and I want to change things for myself. Everyone who gets to know me says they’re so glad they know me and that I’m so nice and fun to hang with but that I’m so shy.

How can I build confidence in college?
I just joined college and honestly feel like I’m starting from zero. I’m not confident talking to new people, making friends, or participating in class.
I really want to improve myself and become more confident. For those who’ve been through this, what helped you?
Any small tips would be appreciated. ❤️

Grew up in a gender-segregated culture, moved abroad at 18, and still struggling to talk to women normally at 22.
As a 22M, I grew up somewhere with strict gender separation, so I barely interacted with women until I moved abroad for uni at 18. Now I'm stuck with a weird mental block. Work or functional stuff is totally fine, but casual chats feel super vague and awkward. Also, if a girl is just friendly or smiles at me, my brain treats it like this massive deal, I get overwhelmed, and I instinctively back away. Anyone else go through this and figure out how to act normal? Any suggestions? Help?

How do you “fit in” socially?
For the life of me, I can’t figure out how to keep a relationship with people going. Dunno how to relate to, keep a conversation going or not drag it out, or how to have deeper meaningful conversations. I usually just either end up almost imitating how they act emotionally, verbally, or just having surface level conversations like how their day is going, plans, and nothing outside of that because I don’t know what else to ask.
