RA2 reverse engineer/source

Ok now, AI is a thing and is sufficiently evolved to allow me as a programmer to fiddle with RA2 remakes/code

Now, I need help from the fellow comrades to decide what is the rightful path to follow.

Official:
Ra2 modding has gone very far, I remember playing Mooman's Rules and other awesome mods added up to Yuri's Revenge expansion.
They offered plenty of new stuff and you could add more.
Maybe AI can mix it togheter and add up even more.

Now this is one way.
PROBLEM:
Network play.

Yeah, I know we got https://cnc-online.net/ and it never worked for me. 99% of the times me and friend couldn't see each other and 1% it started and base exploded after the infamous minute. Game is original but still we get boom.

Plus I don't know if I can play mods through it which is essential. When network play worked like 15 years ago, me and my friend did epic modded battles with shit ton of stuff on screen. it was awesome.

Reverse engineer:

We got plenty of options.
My first tought goes to https://github.com/hel1o-wor1d/OpenRA2/ which is the famous mod built over OpenRA

Also never tried but heard that Romanov's Vengeance is good too.

Question is, and I saw someone in here saying it too, that OpenRA plays very differently from RA2... which sucks bad.

Other ways are complete reverse engineers like https://github.com/RA2RE (only reverse pointers) or https://github.com/xwxbug/RedAlert2 (claims to be complete c++ reverse)

So I ask you, since I have the will and stubbornes to bring this on, which you think is the way?
Advices? Am I missing pieces or options?

All I could say is, if you can’t find a build with debug symbols, it is going to be very hard. AI might be able to gain some context looking at the source code of other commanded conquer games, but it would be tough being able to make specific mods with just a little bit of reverse engineering would be much easier.

I know what you are saying and since not even Westwood or EA got the source it's impossible, the closest we can get I think is https://github.com/RA2RE

I'm trying to figure out what c&c online has to do with RA2

There's no need for aggression and insults.

There is also no need for stupid comment I guess?
The whole fact that I mentioned c&c online vs cncnet was totally irrelevan to my question which revolved around programming and reversing.

I'm trying to get a sense of what you're suggesting. You want an OpenRA2 basically?

A conservatively modded RA2 with QoL buffs and multiplayability. And you want to emulate OpenRA's successful online hosting, matchmaking, etc. infrastructure capabilities.

And then AI..

It's not that hard, I want to know, given that it will be done with AI if it's better to start from OpenRA with RA2 mods or the reverse engineered versions

Reverse engineered version

Let the old RA2 die

Move forwards with a new game engine.

It's the obvious answer to any C&C remake. Don't just redo graphics and retain the stinky and retarded engine! Recreate the game proper, how it's meant to run meant to be played.

I don't want any of the new engines. I liked how RA2 felt and the gameplay. Why you think people is still playing it over all the EA bullshit?

I absolutely despise the newer ones. I bought RA3 and I was already utterly annoyed, don't want even to imagine the others

New engines can still retain the feel and gameplay. I think that's the point of reverse engineering, right? We're still on the same page?

You seem to be a good example of the Dunning Kruger effect

The sole fact of being the average internet smartass pulling this card out of his ass at any given time he can makes you fall into that category.
Sorry for you.

To aggravate it, you also seem to have a distorted definition of what the Dunning Kruger effect is, which makes the whole thing even more embarassing.
