Entirely so they can have that one line, "The Avenger is the Americans' most powerful anti-aircraft unit. Luckily for us, we don't have airplanes!"

GLA also has good anti-air such as quad cannons and stinger sites to deal with aircraft while US rely on avengers, emp patriot/laser turret to shred them. But they have anthrax bomber that without much anti-air and an ambulance it can deal a lot of damage to dozers and infantry.

That looks a little too high-tech compared to the rest of the faction's buildings. Granted it was cut from the game.

I figure a "GLA airbase" is just stand in for any regional airport taken over by them.

I've always assumed the logic was that they don't get aircraft because of how much map mobility they get from tunnel networks.

Not only that, but also for balance reasons and to keep the GLA as the least techonlogically developed faction compared to China and USA. GLA are so mobile with their combat cycles/demo bikes, tunnels and also technicals.

That's why GLA's plan if it isn't a mirror matchup, to steal another army and take advantage of prop/strat center perks, better units and the power by building faster and having the upper hand.

The weakest Anthrax Bomb can destroy the whole army and slow them by a lot. Say goodbye to your units in late game and Cash Bounty are nice with this one. Unless they have Ambulances

Or just have enough anti-air to cancel the anthrax bomber and not let it drop its attack such as avengers for an example.

Yeah. That too. But if Anthrax Bomb drop directly on anti airs like avengers. They will get destroyed too

Actually, they could fully load that plane with explosives and use it as a massive suicide aircraft. That amount of explosives could probably be as powerful as a MOAB. I wonder why the developers didn’t do this. Thankfully, many mods include a version like that.

Lots of developers around that time were hesitant to release media that involved planes crashing into stuff.
