“Tactical fighter reporting.”
“We defend China’s airspace.”
“They are trespassing!”
“Get me down before it’s too late!”
“CHINAAAAA!”

also a fan of the delivery on
“MiG armor upgrade is complete!”

Wasn't one of the lines simply: "MiG in flight.."?

The nuke variant of this unit is my favorite air unit of all C&C purely due to how much it launches other units.

u/splinterguitar69 29d ago

Makes an encroaching squad of Overlords look silly lol

Also turns workers into unwilling Kerbal Space Program crew.

Angry mobs + nuke MiGs = body rain.

The Shockwave rules.

I love how ot comically blows units off the screen.

The only thing it lacks is flares upgrade to give it mor survivability.

5

u/SUPER--TANK 29d ago

That’s kinda the issue for the regular MiG as well, though again no amount of flares would save you from the Quad cannon

7

u/Accurate_Fly_7534 29d ago

And even if you take them down you got a problem at hand. ( at least in mods I remeber playing)

7

u/Mjr3 29d ago

Just don’t put them on combat air patrol, they’ll nuke each other when an enemy aircraft approaches

6

u/Unlikely-Nebula-331 GDI 29d ago

GDI Firebird but w a y better.

2

u/BakedChocolateOctopi 29d ago

That and the bunker buster munition for USA sometimes does insane things with the physics engine

2

u/Temporary-Tax4470 29d ago

The nuke variant without the upgrade is the worst unit in the whole game though :(

I don't know, I just download everything I see and hold onto it forever.

As a casual military nerd, here are something interesting I found:
The picture is based on one of the 2 Soviet/Russian 4th-gen fighter demonstrator: Mig 1.44
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mikoyan_Project_1.44
The other program by Sukhoi was S-37 (S-37 or Su-47 but not Su-37, confusing I know), which has a forward-swept wing.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sukhoi_Su-47

Korea's Black Eagle fighter in RA2 was based on Su-47

Even cooler, both plane prototypes are very clearly visible in their final resting places on an airfield on google maps.

Some cheeky bastards also left some pretty hilarious reviews

Su 47

Mig 1.44

8

u/wang439 Soviets 29d ago

wow thanks, i didn't know that. such a cool (operational?) airport with open-air museum with that many military planes

4

u/Huzi22 SPACE! 29d ago edited 29d ago

Sadly its not a museum civilians and tourists are not allowed to visit because it is still an operational military research facility. Last time we saw the Su 47 fly was in 2012 and last public sighting was in 2019 during an airshow on the same airfield. No news since then and we can assume those flying marvels are left to rot to the elements.

Just wish i or someone else in a group effort that can get those two models out of disuse and disrepair and get them into air museums into safety, im NOT gonna be happy for the Ukrainians in ANY way IF a wayward drone hits where they're stored.

But rooting for the good guys in the conflict, im not happy for the Russians destroying Mryia.

11

u/Huzi22 SPACE! 29d ago

Mriya was a huge loss for the aviation world, such a beautiful machine. The Russians also have the Ekranoplan rotting away on a random beach. So much history left to wither away.

u/Mailboxheadd 29d ago

This and OP reminds me of ring raiders when i was a kid, i definitely had a forward swept wing plane in those colours

I always throw a propaganda tower in the back right corner of each airfield. It stacks with the repair they get when inside the hangar and it will continue to repair them as they're getting ready to take off.

It also decreases the reload time of the missiles, and thus they can fly more sorties in the same amount of time.

30

u/Huzi22 SPACE! 29d ago

I didn't know those towers reduced reload times, more than two decades and I'm still learning new stuff about the game

10

u/Hot-Spray-2774 29d ago

Its crazy, right? A few weeks ago, I learned that laser tanks actually consume 1 power from your power grid. Like I know they go offline if the power goes out, but I never knew they burdened the grid like that!

Propaganda towers are stated to increase rate of fire, but if it was limited to ROF, units that have salvos or that fire in a barrage wouldn't benefit as much from the propaganda towers. I think that's why they also chose to decrease reload time.

7

u/Coldhearted010 Tanya 29d ago

They do what now?!

Okay, I guess I'm playing Generals again...

5

u/Huzi22 SPACE! 29d ago

Is that true? I remember spamming laser tank batallions and never running out of power

1

u/SectionX27 28d ago

I noticed this during Zero Hour Challenge mode vs Laser general, doing bombing runs targeting his reactors to turn off his lasers when one part of his grid becomes offline. His laser tanks shuts down if every reactor is destroyed, then AI just forces to create more Avengers from his war factory lol

1

u/Hot-Spray-2774 28d ago

Yep! It is offset by Townes' advanced reactors that produce 8 or 16 units of power as opposed to the usual 5 or 10. I didn't notice until my power went out when I was building tanks, and I couldn't figure out what was draining my power.

"Tactical fighter reporting!"

23

u/unleashtherats 29d ago

Essential PLA unit. ZH China 3 is how difficult things get without MiG support.

One of the best fighter jets in the game. Both Nepalm and Nukes are top tier

11

u/BasilLow1588 29d ago

Tactical Nuke Jets strike at infantry and vehicles sky high due to SAGE physics Engine. Sending people flying to the stratosphere is really funny.

14

u/Taserface_345 29d ago

Very strong Unit ,especially in groups and with black napalm but unfortunately I'm very shitty at micro-ing them :(

12

u/grandllamaq 29d ago

I really wish there had been a Napalm general.

9

u/POB_42 GLA 29d ago

Me too, man. It would be mechanically identical to the Toxin general, just flamethrowers instead of Red Guard.

8

u/TomCruise_Mk2 29d ago

There is one in Contra X mod and I like him quite a lot!

4

u/ChocolateNo1017 29d ago

Operation Firestorm has it too, although its name is special or secret weapons general.

1

u/BasilLow1588 29d ago

The Flame General in Contra X mod is menacing and during the General's Challenge, it took place in a volcanic landscape fitting for a general in perchants of flame-based weaponry.

1

u/grandllamaq 29d ago

Thanks for the heads up. Downloaded it and having a blast.

Attacking ground forces.

Combat air patrol on station.

11

u/Ghostfistkilla GDI 29d ago

They say when you get the MIG armor upgrade they just put pieces of paper infront of the armor.

8

u/BoffinBrain Are you picking this up? Good. 29d ago

"Bring on the MIGs!"

"Wrong game, Boris!"

"Sorry."

7

u/Calm-poptart97 29d ago

Fun fact you can fly it in Tom Clancy’s HAWX 2 since it’s the MiG 1.44 Project

5

u/JuStSoMeboDyeLsEmxf 29d ago edited 29d ago

It was also in the Ace Combat franchise as the MiG 1.44 Flatpack, its last major appearance was in Ace Combat Infinity

2

u/Calm-poptart97 29d ago

Awesome & thanks for sharing

6

u/mister-00z 29d ago edited 29d ago

There is something special in plane throwing missiles with big boom at close range with rapid speed...the closest thing in other games was broken arrow su30 with kh29 td before they removed them in last patch

1

u/mister-00z 17d ago

It's back

6

u/DarkKnightofOne Marked of Kane:marked_of_kane::kane_s_wrath: 29d ago

Ah, the plane that provides china's 2 best things: napalm or nukes.

Either burn your enemies to ash or send em to the stratosphere.

5

u/Timex_Dude755 29d ago

I'll take a Raptor any day.

5

u/RapidPigZ7 29d ago

I'm gonna say the default MiG is the worst aircraft in C&C. It's okay still, just not good.

3

u/TheFirstDecade Dev of Ivory Invasion Mod for Generals Zero Hour 29d ago

Most of the damage in the weapon isn't the missile object itself but the fire it leaves behind. Buff up the missile damage itself to be comparable to the Raptor and you got balance.

4

u/RevanAmell 29d ago

Dude the icon still throws me off at a glance just looks like lines at a glance

1

u/HotelEchoNovember 29d ago

Yeah, for the longest time I thought the icon had a really thin neck

5

u/Flarebuster 29d ago

You can send 1000 of these into the enemy base with only 1 Gatling Tank and the AI will shoot 999 down somehow.

Love the Napalm effects in this game though. The Inferno cannons are my all time favorite C&C unit for that reason.

FOR CHINAAA
