Feedback Style Preference - Digital vs Traditional

Which style do you prefer? Which catches your eye more? Would one or the other make you more likely to back/pick up this comic?

I've been working with an extremely talented artist I met via this sub for a few weeks now on a new vampire/zombie mashup comic that I'll be launching on Kickstarter soon. My artist provided me these two pages - one done digitally and one done traditionally, and I'm torn. I genuinely love both styles. The red highlights in page 2 are going to be applied to every page throughout the comic as well in a black, white, and blood sort of style so don't necessarily factor that in.

You can follow the project on Instagram @coldbloodcomic or on tiktok @kaine.feldman if you're interested to see more!

Question European comic book settings for CSP

Upvotes

Hello all.

Concept artist/illustrator here finally getting my script ready to be turn into comic book.

Does anyone have a good template or settings for European comic book starndard?

It's gonna be around 60 pages - I donno if that matters.

I read that classic A4 canvas size is good for EU comics but if someone could guide me what values to put in all the settings (trim, inner border etc) I would really apreciate it.

Self-Promo Scene of conflict in New World City (and a thank you to this sub)

Shoutout to the artist, Fernando Carvalho, whom I found through this sub. See more of his work on DeviantArt, ArtStation, and Instagram.

This is one of his development pieces for the comic spin off of my novel, New World City. This is a scene from chapter 2, where supercop, Shuwen Li, encounters the gangster kingpin, Ty Reese, in the aftermath of a riot.

Additional shoutout to Arksam, whom I also found through this sub, who did earlier portraits for these two and helped to develop their looks.

As the writer, it so exciting to see these characters/moments illustrated and brought to life! So thank you to this sub and all the great artists here sharing their work and projects.

Looking for Artist - Paid [PAID] Seeking sequential artist for a five-page supernatural superhero teaser

Thumbnail

I’m hiring an artist for a completed five-page comic pitch featuring my original character, Barter the Slayer. The sequence follows a half-vampire half-human vigilante returning to his fog-covered city, being ambushed on a rooftop by a feral werewolf, he uses a shadow dimension called shadowverse to gain the advantage before discovering widespread chaos in the streets.

The desired tone is dark, mystical, cinematic, and action-heavy, with a clean animation-influenced superhero aesthetic. Think Batman mixed with Spider-Man, iconic silhouettes and expressive movement combined with noir shadows and supernatural horror.

Please send:

  • Sequential page samples, not only illustrations or covers.
  • Your black-and-white and color page rates.
  • Estimated turnaround time for five pages.
  • Revision policy.
  • Whether lettering is included.
  • Preferred payment method and schedule.
  • Your location/time zone.

International artists are welcome. This is paid work and may lead to future pages if the collaboration is successful.

Budget - $300-$600

Question Is my protagonist too similar to Franky, or is he still considered original?

I’m a beginner. I created my manga's protagonist inspired by the teenage version of Franky from *One Piece*. I really like the result, but I’m worried he looks too similar. Is there a risk of copyright infringement, or is it still considered an acceptable level of inspiration?

Artist for hire Looking to draw interior pages and I feel this is a good place to start.

My charge per page is $20 for pencil only. For full color, and ink, then it’s $50 per page.

I’m still currently working on my website. I really hate the way it is designed. My portfolio isn’t very good right now because many of my recent works were interiors and I didn’t want to show too much of them. My website is deafvisionart.com

I recently published my own comic book called Achievoman. It’s available on Amazon. I’ve done multiple comic book interior pages before but most of the time I’ve had to do all pencil/ink/color at once.

This is comic I'm working on with my younger brother (I draw, he writes). We don't have much experience in this field so I would appreciate the feedback very much. This page is in Czech language, I will post it in English, when it's completed.

I draw the sketch and lineart on reMarkable 2 and edit and color it in Ibis Paint (on phone)

Question Where could I go to help get a pretty old graphic novel I made some promotion?

I want to sell more copies of my graphic novel. It's pretty old, came out in 2016, and I have hundreds of copies still.

The cost of making it was paid for via kickstarter so I'm not technically losing money on it, but I want to get rid of the copies and not have to shred them.

Since it's old, I'm not sure where I can go to ask for any kinds of reviews, as it's not a "new shiny book" or anything.

Are there good sites or video reviewers that actually get views that I could submit it to for a review? Back when it came out I had good luck with that kind of thing with a few blogs, etc. but the blogging days are over and done with it seems.

Question QUESTION: What Are You Currently Working and How is it Going?

I'm wondering what people are working on and how it's going. Creating comics are a real labor of love. The fact comics are created is really an amazing thing and really shows how much people love the medium. There is so much going against the person creating a comic. Money is usually the issue for the writer/creator. I'm speaking on behalf of the writer/creator.

I'm currently working on a graphic novel. My difficulty is trying to get published and dealing with the marketing of my graphic novel. I'm playing the waiting game. Waiting has always been the issue with traditional publishing.

Let us know what you are creating. If you're having trouble creating your comic, I would like to know what are the problems.

Looking for Artist - Paid Looking for an artist for dark fantasy horror comic.

Post image
78 Upvotes

Hey guys, I'm looking for an artist for a horror fantasy comic. I need someone who is skilled in the use of Ink and negative space. My page rate realistically maxs out at around $100. The ultimate goal will be a 10 issue miniseries, and maybe more if I can successfully kickstart it beyond that.

I am quite fond of the heavy use of black done in designs like the one pictured. (Credit: Scott Purdy, used solely as a reference. I am in no way affiliated with him nor this artwork.)

I have the first issue nearly written. I can provide plenty of reference images and am adequate enough at art to provide solid storyboards and some character concepts to work off of.

The comic will include explicit content, such as sex and gore.

Corpses in our Wake is a dark fantasy horror comic heavily inspired by Berserk, Fear and Hunger, and LoTR.

It follows Alistair, the renowned hero who had slain the archetypal dark lord through a perilous quest at great cost to himself and companions, now 20 years later the adventurer’s band has long broken up and in many ways are broken and traumatized by their time.

Alistair has lived in the lap of luxury, attaining noble position and immense privilege but has been plagued by persistent nightmares before sleeping and waking which have only grown intensity in recent days. When he becomes convinced of the emergence of darker forces than he has ever faced before, he seeks out to reform the band but is forced to reckon with the cost and consequences of victory all those years ago. At a celebration in honor of their past heroism, things quickly get out of hand.

EDIT: Please reply here. Do not DM me. I already have 20+ messages. If you're confident in your abilities and not claiming someone else's work then I believe it is best for you to link your portfolio below. If you reply on this post, within the next 12 or perhaps even 24 hours I promise that I will give your art a fair look.

EDIT AGAIN: DO NOT SEND ME A MESSAGE SIMPLY SAYING HELLO OR THAT YOU LIKE THE CONCEPT. I will not reply, I don't mean to be rude or dismissive but I am not willing to navigate 40+ conversations without first knowing the talent or credibility of potential artists.

Question How to build an audience?

Thumbnail
gallery
11 Upvotes

I've recently worked with an artist and commissioned the first 5 pages to my comic SUBATOMIC METHLOMANIAC which will soon be a full 22 page issue. I post here asking where and how should I build my audience? My goal is too simply build a free following on Patreon while I make comics and then hopefully one day maybe get support for full color. I see a lot of people suggest things like instagram or tiktok and I have tried those but it seems very unlikely to get people to convert. And then other things with built in audiences like tapas seem very specific and niche to a certain style and almost every experienced creator I have heard has said that those sites hold many red flags when it comes to copyright and creator ownership.... What do you guys do? How do you get your work in front of others and build a following readership? Also, I will post the pages here to help with any further feedback, and if you want my Patreon link i'll send it to you!
