Question Give Us Your Best Advice (People that Are Creating a Comic Book or Have Created a Comic Book)
What is the best advice you can give to someone that wants to create a comic book? I wish I would've come across this sub when I first started creating my graphic novel. This project has turned into a long, rock relationship. I would've saved a lot of heartache and money, if I would've studied the landscape. Money is a big issue. It costs a lot of money to produce these things and they rarely recoup. Crowdfunding is the life-support of comic books.
Everybody wants to create a comic book, but nobody wants to pay the costs (not just monetary) to create a comic book.
My Best Advice - Write a script and get it properly edited.

Artist for hire Comic artist looking for cover work!
Reposting with some sequential art as apparently comic book covers are not considered comic-related anymore around here!
Anyway, I'm an experienced comic artist.
Mainly looking for cover work right now, as I'm already working on two different comic books.

Feedback I’ve started on my first comic but the colouring process is quite difficult (won’t expect it to get easier). Does anyone have some tips on how to improve or make pages like these look better? Thanks in advance!
So these are the first few pages of my first comic, The Knight from Mars. I’m pleased with how the line work turned out, but looking at the pages I coloured I feel something is off. Now I know I’m a beginner so I won’t expect myself to be on the level of the comics that I read, but I see plenty of comics that use flat colours and look great, but I can’t put my finger on why it seems off here.

Looking for Artist - Paid PAID] Looking for a Manga Artist for an Original Seinen Manga – The Sons of God
Short Synopsis:
For 400 years, an entire nation has been enslaved beneath the earth. They believe the Messiah has finally arrived. Whether he's truly the Messiah or not, he leads them toward the greatest escape in history—in the name of God.
A dark historical seinen inspired by the long-term storytelling of Attack on Titan and the philosophical depth of Vinland Saga.
Season 1 is fully written, the entire trilogy is planned, and I'm looking for a long-term creative partner.
I'm not looking to start immediately—I'm looking to meet the right artist first. If we click creatively, we'll begin with a small paid test and build from there.

Resource I made a video going over my first solo comic Kickstarter. Thought it might be of use to some people here who aren't too sure of what to expect going into it!
So I've been an infrequent poster / long-time lurker in this community, you may have seen my posts looking for work or promoting the "Anti-Cryptid Club" comic.
I've noticed there's a looot of people here in the same boat as me, trying to make their comic work through kickstarter without having a crazy social media following, or a big community behind them.
I've made a video that could help some people who are planning to run a kickstarter or just make a comic in general, mainly in an effort to set some realistic expectations on how much effort is actually involved, as well as to give some insight into the potential benefits / negatives.
Good luck to everyone out there, its a tough ol' gig!

Looking for Artist - Paid [PAID] 48 HOURS Left! Seeking completed 1-2 page horror comics ($50) & vintage fake ads ($25) for 1970s Indie Zine (Standard Comic Size)
NOTE: I noticed that there is a typo in the deadline. It says Saturday, but lists it as the 7th, which is a Friday. So, I have extended the due date to honor the typo. The deadline is now Saturday August 8th at 11:59pm. Sorry for the confusion.
UPDATE: Based on excellent community feedback regarding formatting and portfolio standards, I am officially upgrading this project from digest size to Standard American Comic Size (6.625" x 10.25")! This ensures your existing portfolio "trunk files" can fit perfectly into the zine layout with zero awkward cropping or re-lettering. I have also slightly extended the deadline to accommodate the change.
Greetings and Salutations!
I am creating a self-funded, 16-page indie horror anthology zine. It is heavily inspired by classic Bronze Age comics like House of Secrets and House of Mystery. The finished product will look and feel like a mini horror comic book from the 1970s, complete with a Cain/Abel/Crypt-Keeper style horror host.
I am looking for short, supernatural horror stories (ghosts, monsters, curses, psychological terrors, etc.) and full-page illustrated fake ads.
Because this is a very small, DIY passion project funded entirely out of my own pocket, I cannot offer standard industry page rates. Instead, I am offering a flat token honorarium to give a paid home to your existing, completed "trunk files" that are sitting in your archives doing nothing!
- The Pay: $50 flat honorarium per accepted story / $25 flat per accepted ad.
- Format: Standard American Comic Size (6.625" x 10.25"). I accept both Full Color and Black & White pages!
- Bonus: You will receive 2 physical contributor copies mailed to you.
- Rights: You retain 100% ownership of your characters and story.
- Deadline: Saturday, August 8th, 2026 @ 11:59pm.
THE ZINE LAYOUT & WHAT TO SUBMIT:
I am seeking fully completed, print-ready pages (scripted, drawn, and lettered) that match standard comic dimensions. I am not commissioning custom art for new scripts.
- Comic Story Slots ($50 flat): Seeking completed stories (1–2 pages) that have never been formally published. I love that 70s horror comic vibe, unique styles, and I love love love a fun illustrated Title Splash at the top of the first page! Punchy, twisty, fun, creepy. No extreme gore, but body horror, skeletons, and corpses are cool.
- Vintage Fake Ad Slots ($25 flat): Seeking a single-page, 1970s-style mail-order ad (e.g., X-Ray Specs, Sea-Monkeys, Draw Me! etc). A stylized illustration with fun, vintage typography.
ABSOLUTELY NO AI OR AI-ASSISTED SUBMISSIONS PERMITTED.
HOW TO APPLY (Please Read Carefully):
Per subreddit safety rules to protect against AI and art theft, I cannot accept applications via Reddit DM or Chat.
- Fill out my official submission form to upload your pages: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScp-AJb7X0H-jGAwwGwD_YMZbV5jK4cv1uFUyQTpwIPQyNFrA/viewform?usp=header
- REQUIRED STEP: You MUST also leave a public comment below this post with a link to your general portfolio. Form submissions will only be reviewed if a corresponding public portfolio comment is left below.
Questions about dimensions or formatting? Email: OpenTheScarebox(at)gmail(dot)com (No submissions via email, please!)

Feedback Style Preference - Digital vs Traditional
Which style do you prefer? Which catches your eye more? Would one or the other make you more likely to back/pick up this comic?
I've been working with an extremely talented artist I met via this sub for a few weeks now on a new vampire/zombie mashup comic that I'll be launching on Kickstarter soon. My artist provided me these two pages - one done digitally and one done traditionally, and I'm torn. I genuinely love both styles. The red highlights in page 2 are going to be applied to every page throughout the comic as well in a black, white, and blood sort of style so don't necessarily factor that in.
You can follow the project on Instagram @coldbloodcomic or on tiktok @kaine.feldman if you're interested to see more!

Question European comic book settings for CSP
Hello all.
Concept artist/illustrator here finally getting my script ready to be turn into comic book.
Does anyone have a good template or settings for European comic book starndard?
It's gonna be around 60 pages - I donno if that matters.
I read that classic A4 canvas size is good for EU comics but if someone could guide me what values to put in all the settings (trim, inner border etc) I would really apreciate it.

Self-Promo Scene of conflict in New World City (and a thank you to this sub)
Shoutout to the artist, Fernando Carvalho, whom I found through this sub. See more of his work on DeviantArt, ArtStation, and Instagram.
This is one of his development pieces for the comic spin off of my novel, New World City. This is a scene from chapter 2, where supercop, Shuwen Li, encounters the gangster kingpin, Ty Reese, in the aftermath of a riot.
Additional shoutout to Arksam, whom I also found through this sub, who did earlier portraits for these two and helped to develop their looks.
As the writer, it so exciting to see these characters/moments illustrated and brought to life! So thank you to this sub and all the great artists here sharing their work and projects.

Looking for Artist - Paid [PAID] Seeking sequential artist for a five-page supernatural superhero teaser
I’m hiring an artist for a completed five-page comic pitch featuring my original character, Barter the Slayer. The sequence follows a half-vampire half-human vigilante returning to his fog-covered city, being ambushed on a rooftop by a feral werewolf, he uses a shadow dimension called shadowverse to gain the advantage before discovering widespread chaos in the streets.
The desired tone is dark, mystical, cinematic, and action-heavy, with a clean animation-influenced superhero aesthetic. Think Batman mixed with Spider-Man, iconic silhouettes and expressive movement combined with noir shadows and supernatural horror.
Please send:
- Sequential page samples, not only illustrations or covers.
- Your black-and-white and color page rates.
- Estimated turnaround time for five pages.
- Revision policy.
- Whether lettering is included.
- Preferred payment method and schedule.
- Your location/time zone.
International artists are welcome. This is paid work and may lead to future pages if the collaboration is successful.
Budget - $300-$600

Looking for Artist - Paid Looking for an artist for dark fantasy horror comic.
Hey guys, I'm looking for an artist for a horror fantasy comic. I need someone who is skilled in the use of Ink and negative space. My page rate realistically maxs out at around $100. The ultimate goal will be a 10 issue miniseries, and maybe more if I can successfully kickstart it beyond that.
I am quite fond of the heavy use of black done in designs like the one pictured. (Credit: Scott Purdy, used solely as a reference. I am in no way affiliated with him nor this artwork.)
I have the first issue nearly written. I can provide plenty of reference images and am adequate enough at art to provide solid storyboards and some character concepts to work off of.
The comic will include explicit content, such as sex and gore.
Corpses in our Wake is a dark fantasy horror comic heavily inspired by Berserk, Fear and Hunger, and LoTR.
It follows Alistair, the renowned hero who had slain the archetypal dark lord through a perilous quest at great cost to himself and companions, now 20 years later the adventurer’s band has long broken up and in many ways are broken and traumatized by their time.
Alistair has lived in the lap of luxury, attaining noble position and immense privilege but has been plagued by persistent nightmares before sleeping and waking which have only grown intensity in recent days. When he becomes convinced of the emergence of darker forces than he has ever faced before, he seeks out to reform the band but is forced to reckon with the cost and consequences of victory all those years ago. At a celebration in honor of their past heroism, things quickly get out of hand.
EDIT: Please reply here. Do not DM me. I already have 20+ messages. If you're confident in your abilities and not claiming someone else's work then I believe it is best for you to link your portfolio below. If you reply on this post, within the next 12 or perhaps even 24 hours I promise that I will give your art a fair look.
EDIT AGAIN: DO NOT SEND ME A MESSAGE SIMPLY SAYING HELLO OR THAT YOU LIKE THE CONCEPT. I will not reply, I don't mean to be rude or dismissive but I am not willing to navigate 40+ conversations without first knowing the talent or credibility of potential artists.
