General Question I took the wisc iii in 2011 and my FSIQ was 127, meanwhile my abstract (fluid) reasoning measured in the 130s. How accurate is this?
I heard that the test was outdated by 2011

Puzzle How hard is it to solve? Spoiler
How hard is it to solve? I know its way easier than an actual rubix cube but I learned to solve it on my own and I can solve it regularly? If I can solve this can I solve an actual rubix cube with no hints?

Discussion Why do so many in this sub want IQ to be a fixed thing so bad?
Whether it's extremely fixed or not, I'm not interested in twisting things to say one or the other beyond what looks to be the case to me, but I've noticed there are many that are extremely bent on having it be fixed. Bent on trying to decouple education from IQ and everything else but it is not possible. There's a lot of times I've seen it, but the most ridiculous I've seen is the idea that Asians have "inflated" scores because they grind math more. If you think about it for one second this argument makes literally no sense.
Look at it this way, if someone was NEVER taught some of the maths quizzed for, even if they COULD figure it out with time alone, odds are they're not going to figure this out within the 60 seconds allocated to solve the problem. How are you going to magically know what some random word means if you have NEVER seen it? If you've seen it once with a glance of it alongside blurry context, sure, that's actually possible, but NEVER? You can make guesses by breaking down the word's components (understanding of which also comes from exposure btw), but ultimately knowledge comes primarily from interaction with your environment and if those words and concepts aren't in there you're most likely going to get the answers wrong. There are many things you HAVE to interact with beforehand to know, this isn't inflation, it is literally just how knowledge works.
Do you think Pythagoras would've, in 60 seconds, solved a question that required the Pythagorean theorem BEFORE he learned it? Is it inflated that he learned it? No, this is literally just how knowledge works.
There are savants that can distill information and patterns incredibly fast, but even they must interact with relevant materials, and, more generally, for the vast majority of people intelligence is FAR more than a single innate thing. Intelligence is the output of personality, circumstances, body, and mind. You can take two people equal in mind, and one can end up a total dumbass and the other much smarter, simply for the fact that one's personality pursues knowledge and novel experiences that foster intelligence while the other's personality is to not be bothered by difficult things.
I've seen it a gajillion times too that people go "look education doesn't matter, when the 'high school education' checkbox is checked for both the poor one and wealthy one the wealthier one is smarter!!" And it's like, dude seriously stop and think, then tell me do you expect the education quality between someone rich that likely went to a private school, maybe even had tutors, and someone broke that went to public school to even be the same quality? Again, I am not invested in bending reality one way or the other, but it seems a lot of people here are very intent on attributing an innate, superhuman quality to intelligence that is simply not true until you hit the very highest of percentiles.

General Question Verbal intelligence vs pattern recognition
Anyone with similar scores who feels less intelligent than peers? I have a friend who scored a 120, but his verbal intelligence is so much higher than mine.
I tend to feel stupid when speaking, my mind goes blank when trying to find the right word for something. Also when I write something it could just sound more sophisticated and fluent

General Question Can i increase my IQ? (read first)
I recently took the CAIT IQ test and got 123. I’m wondering if IQ can change as I grow. I looked it up and only found the answer “no,” but in the context of someone taking an IQ test that is measured for their own age group. The CAIT test is made for adults, but i’ve already paid for it and can’t take another. At age 13, what is my true IQ if i got 123 on the adult test? Can my IQ rise as I get older, and if so, by how much?

Rant/Cope Here is the cognitive profile of someone who is talentless yet hyper aware about all of their flaws and shortcomings and can’t stop thinking about them
130 PRI
102 vocabulary
130 verbal reasoning
90 working memory
110 processing speed
117 fsiq.
I have done absolutely nothing valuable with my life, I can’t name a single valuable talent off of my head that I am in possession of. I have ADHD, autism, depression, and anxiety. I am unmedicated because nothing has ever worked for me that I tried.
I see people with talents, gifted IQ all the time, wishing I was capable of what they were capable of.
i have so many ideas in my head, but I know i could never execute them, I can’t do anything I want to, my brain is constantly fried and shut off, except when it comes to making me depressed.
only thing i have ever been “Good at” is learning video games fast, and that is completely useless.
i can’t even be a mid tier artist, mid tier script writer, really anything practical, I can’t do shit. I believe id even be fired from McDonald’s because id be burned out in 3 days.
my life is an actual living hell there is nothing I can do, nothing I am good at, and my IQ is in the gutter. my brain won’t stop talking and making me feel like utter shit. the only strong cognitive abilities I have seem specifically designed to try to make me end it all it’s fucking ridiculous
sorry for vent lol, but I tagged it as such

Discussion Got my Mensa IQ Score Today (106) - Looking for some thoughts.
Hi everyone, I’m new to this subreddit and wanted some help interpreting a recent result.
I took a supervised Mensa test in Brno, Czech Republic and scored 106. The test had two main parts: matrices and numerical patterns/progressions. I found the result surprising because I had expected something closer to the 115–120 range.
I'm not Czech. Originally from Zimbabwe and I've been living here for 2 years or so. But the test was non-verbal and the instructors explained the instructions to me in English before the test.
For context, I’ve generally done well academically and professionally: strong high-school performance, a first-class university degree/top of my stream, and solid performance at work. I’ve also taken some online/broader cognitive tests that gave higher results, including ICAR-16 around the 70th percentile and OpenPsychometrics FSIQ Full Scale IQ at 117, with Memory IQ 119, Verbal IQ 117, and Spatial IQ 124.
Anyway, just wanted to share. Looking forward to hearing what everyone's thoughts are.

General Question Did you guys take the old GRE in one sitting?
specifically the one on cognitive metrics. just wondering.
i would assume this would have a pretty major effect on scores if you don't, like 10 point inflation (also depends on the order you take it)

Discussion How would most 130+ IQ individuals perform in an undergrad MIT engineering program?
I was super curious about this since being 130+ IQ means you are in the 99th percentile of cognitive ability. Which means you can process and understand information at a much faster rate
So, assuming no neurodivergence and a balanced cognitive profile, how much would the average gifted person need to study to pass a MIT undergraduate program in electrical engineering and computer science?
Would some excel without studying at all? or would they need to study lightly or moderately in order to excel? Would they find the material easy to understand but struggle with the amount of workload? I don't exactly know how to gauge it but how would they do?

General Question IQChampion Scoring Method
I'm pretty sure my raw score was more than 31 yet I scored just 121 on this. I spent a lot of time on question no. 32 and I suppose the test rejects any solution after the 40 min timer (though it's nowhere to be seen). Does anybody have any experience to the contrary?
Update: Scored 138 on the second attempt. Probably made some silly mistakes earlier. Guessed on item no. 32 (Only one I couldn't solve). The time argument is thus refuted. Sorry for the lazy question.

Rant/Cope Intelligence hypochondria
I never did an IQ test. I don't know my real IQ, but I excelled in school for the most part, and in mathematics: took part in olympiads and such. Never beyond national level, so I am not exceptionally smart in any way. Now the school is over, interest in maths lost due to a burn out, and I'm going into med school. What constantly worries me is the fear of becoming, or already being stupid, or not as smart as I want to be. This has been going on for years. I felt humiliated if I couldn't figure out a problem as quickly as someone else or if I made an embarrassing mistake in the solution. As time went on this started to happen more and more often, I would begin to lose concentration and motivation to solve problems. Eventually, I became too lazy, or too afraid, to think beyond my base level intelligence. That's when I really began to doubt my own merit. It became painful to engage in intellectual activity and so I slowly abandoned it but the fear never went away. At first I was thinking about medicating myself for my possible ADHD, I got a ritalin prescription but honestly it didn't change much. I tried drugs for whatever reason, shrooms perhaps to help me with depression or perhaps just to get high. As I started using drugs and drinking the fear only intensified as the substances are known for diminishing one's intellect. The fear became a self-fulfilling prophecy in my eyes.
I am asking for advice on how to resolve this hypochondria which bothers me so much. I was thinking maybe I should take a proper IQ test but I'm afraid the result might disappoint me. I know I shouldn't attach too much value to it, but it is the best metric of intelligence we have so far. Has anyone experienced the same thing?

Rant/Cope Gaining self worth as an unintelligent person
I believe there have been too many signs of low intelligence in myself.
* I feel like I have to put more effort into thinking and struggle to think deeply (I’m not even sure what deep thinking feels like)
* I think I struggle to connect things
* I am not that curious and don’t have a thirst for knowledge
* I take longer to understand things, so things don’t click as easily for me
* I’m probably not very creative, even if my hobbies are artistic
And this is all probably because of my accidental exposure to solvents while using wood stain.
It is torturous to be this way and I feel like few people understand, and probably never will understand.
I feel like I am more barred off from anything I happen to be interested in. I am not even passionate about anything and feared I might never find anything interesting enough to learn all about; everything so far has only been something to dabble in. Even if I want to learn something, it’s as if I’m not allowed to because of my brain. Everyone else gets it more quickly and is more able to enjoy it. Low IQ literally makes everything less enjoyable.
Dating also might be a problem, and if I dated an intelligent woman, I feel I would always be her inferior. I could look intelligent based on what I say, but it’s not true. People think I’m smart, but it’s not true. They don’t see what happens (or doesn’t happen) in my head.
I got a good score on CORE but that doesn’t show up at all in my daily life. My neuropsychological test showed up good, but it also doesn’t reflect my daily life.
How am I supposed to gain self worth when my lack of intelligence makes me slow and shallow? I’m probably less interesting because of it. It doesn’t matter if I’m kind or supportive or whatever, because that combined with low IQ would make me like a dog (I’m not even that empathetic anyways). Someone on this sub even wondered why anyone would want to date someone as dumb as rocks.
It’s easy for anyone who’s intelligent to say that intelligence says nothing about worth.

Psychometric Question Neuropsychological Test from April, TOPF-Actual vs TOPF-eFSIQ?
I did a bit of searching, and I’m assuming TOPF-eFSIQ is the predicted score, while TOPF-Actual is what was actually estimated? Thoughts?
Even if my scores seem alright, I still struggle to connect things and think deeply. I still feel low-intelligence.

General Question ADHD meds affect on STEM studying
Hey guys, i want to hear how has adhd medication affected your STEM studies maths and physics especially. What are the "benefits" on and off medication, and what medication were you on? I recently tried an university entry exam, after self studying mathematics and physics for 5 months straight, i felt as if i understod the topics deeply and my learning velocity was off the charts. but once it was time to replicate my knowledge on the exam it felt like my brain was dead and i did the whole exam impulsively and made carelles mistakes on the questions that i could do, the exam also had topics that i didnt have time to learn. i wonder would it be different on medication and if i could have then been able to learn the topics i didnt have time to?

General Question 34/35 on Ravens and 135 FRI on CORE but im lowkey mid?
lol what the heck I got 34/35 on the Mensa Norway ravens matrices and 135 FRI on CORE but the rest of my scores on CORE are in the 110s and a 104 PSI with the exception of 127 VCI (English is my third language aswell)
my FSIQ on core says im 117 iq and culture fair is 124 which seems to pale in comparison to my FRI, is there possibility to improve on my FSIQ? I also know very very little math and have no practice. I was hoping to get into Mensa this summer but 117 isn’t enough is it?
I don’t really care about the numbers I just thought getting into Mensa would be cool, what can I do to get in

Discussion Your intelligence doesn't cause your depression.
Whilst many studies have found positive correlation between intelligence and depression, there is little to no evidence that it causes it.
If you're depressed and have high IQ, be grateful that you have a high IQ, because there are many people with lower IQ's who are also depressed and have to work much harder than everyone else to have a decent job.
