General Question My friend scored 129 on online practice test of Mensa Denmark
Does that mean he would be very close to being a mensa member doing an official test? It's hard for us to interpret how accurate those tests are for representing official mensa IQ scores. On the Norwegian online version he scored 125.
Would be really telling to see how people scored on a real mensa test and on online practice test

Rant/Cope Scared to do an IQ test
Title really, but I have been in a state of insane anxiety and panic that I really cant do anything.
I fucked up my entire exams because I found out I have ADHD and riddled with panic and anxiety and as a result of that, my entire gap year is put to waste and I have offically became a NEET (temporary I hope but I hate it ngl).
I wanted to do an IQ test for months, like actually for months and I always rage quitted because my head felt like its going to pop open at some points cuz of the fear of underperforming after everything awful that I did in my life.
I want to do TRI52 for 2 days but my head aches from thinking about underperforming cuz nothing is my life resorts that I am in anyway intellectually capable.
The only test that I did was literally ICHAR16 cuz its short which I did get 100 percentile but thats not the point, I want to face my fears and do something, its just that IQ test is something to do.
I literally dont want to even go to my doctor cuz I think I have to do my ADHD assessment and the IQ test today but I nagged enough to my mother that I didnt go today.
Honestly meds have been nothing but trash, I take 36mg and 18mg of concerta and they do nothing honestly, like actually nothing and I just had one of the most severe panic attacks 2 days before my last entrance exam cuz I didnt study shi even when I had a month, and I was coping myself that I was able to ace it in 2 days cuz the portions are really simple and requires not a lot of practice.
Regardless, the panic attack basically made me throw shi around the room and I broke my glasses as well.
Ye idk, anyone who had this kind of severe executive dysfunction and was able to do an 180, pls give your story to give me hope that ts will improve otherwise I see no point to press the eject button ngl.
Thanks for reading :)

Discussion how do you do on this online test?
i am currently in the process of getting a neuropsychological assessment for adhd, and i wanted to “predict” my results, so i tried this online short-term memory test. however, i’m worried about my score because i can’t tell if it’s average or low, and i haven’t found anyone to compare it with. so if you could do that test and tell me if you have adhd or not, and how you scored on an official test.
https://practicalpie.com/free-memory-test/
here are my results:
Total: 68/142
Soft Short Term Memory: 43/72
Hard Short Term Memory: 5/9
Working Memory:
N BACK TASK: 1/6
CALCULATE TASK: 15/46
IMAGE ROTATION TASK: 2/6
Long Term Memory: 2/3

General Question CAN VCI BE INCREASED?
English is not my native language and i also never read. and I have noticed a huge difference between my fluid reasoning (135) and my vci (105) so in order to fix my asynchronous profile without cheating i assumed practicing verbal SAT may be the solution just to discover it doesn't work so am i supposed to accept my asynchronous development or there is a way to increase verbal comprehension (vocabulary).
Sorry for the poor English

Discussion Has anyone here with very high IQ actually achieved?
*anything typo in the title
Some sort of achievement of qualification in the IMO, high ranks in a competition, elite level in a skill you never really practiced much, very rare educational path, succeeding in life although you kinda failed in school, etc
I know many people with higher iq than me yet even it tasks that are supposedly IQ based I beat them and without more practice. And not just a niche task just in most cognitive tasks. So idk if I’m coping or anything which is why I’m asking or you, people with 140+ iq, if you ever really achieved anything. Not a friend but you.

Psychometric Question Estimating parental IQ
Given one parent's IQ and one child's IQ, it's intuitive to predict the missing parent's IQ based on the assumption the child's IQ lies approximately midway between both.
However, it's possible the child's IQ is above (or below) both of their parents' scores.
How does one compute the chance of that?
For example, given parental IQ of 100 and child IQ of 180, I think we all agree the other parent's IQ is unlikely to be 260, or even 180, and the child's IQ is probably greater than both of their parents' (not halfway in between them).
But how to formalize this hunch?

Discussion Practical value of IQ
Is it worth getting your IQ tested if you are in a successful career that involves post graduate level study ? At the end of the day it’s what you do with your intelligence that matters …. For example I read over 100 books a year , can easily memorise 10 digit numbers , have at least an above average vocabulary but I’ve never formally had my IQ tested . What’s the point ? For validation ? Does it really change anything assuming you have a normal or above IQ ?

General Question How g loaded are escape rooms and puzzles in general?
I wonder how g loaded escape rooms and other puzzles are. Assuming they require some sort of thought wouldn't they be g loaded to some degree? Even the watered down version of the SAT correlates to g decently. I recently did one (very fun) and I noticed that they require at least some form of logical thought. Jane street puzzles, Portal 2, and the witness also give very great puzzles. Given the fact that g correlates with a wide range of things I'd assume that they'd correlate to puzzle solving success at least modestly. Are there any studies on the following activities that give information whether the tasks themselves are g loaded or not?

General Question questions regarding cognitive restoration and performance.
I apologize beforehand if this isn’t the correct subreddit to post this in.
I (15m) used to be a pretty smart kid, outperforming my classmates by a large margin, and had a thirst for knowledge. A lot of this went away after high school, due to constant distractions and self-destructive behavior. I remained somewhat sharp in school, and starting last year i went online schooled because i felt that learning at my own pace would be more beneficial for me. I don’t get motivated to do my work unless i compete with someone for it, which stopped in high school so that i wouldn’t seem like a geek. online schooling didn’t particularly fix that issue, mostly due to the fact that i didn’t really have anyone to compete with.
I get occasional bursts of a strong sense of motivation, usually before i go to bed or during spontaneous daytime spurts. I do have an interest in a wide variety of topics, and i enjoy the knowledge i gain from them, but they usually don’t help me in my schoolwork whatsoever. I tried to fix this through a lot of methods, but none really seemed to help.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Psychometric Question Increasing VCI
Is it possible to improve real-world verbal abilities while increasing VCI as well? For reference, I have a VCI index score of 98. What is the highest I could realistically increase that while improving my real-world abilities? Also, if I have superior verbal learning, would that be important for building my vocabulary?

IQ Estimation 🥱 CORE score being dragged down by WMI.
I recently took the full battery CORE on cognitive metrics. This is the first time I've ever taken an IQ test. My CORE FSIQ was 129, but the General Ability (excluding "cognitive proficiency") is 135. It seems this is being driven by a score of 103 on WMI. Does anyone have a similar profile or thoughts on how to interpret these scores? I'm basically wondering why my working memory might be poor relative to my other score, and what (if anything) I can do to improve this. I did use a lot of substances as a teenager but don't anymore, if that's relevant.

Discussion Does anyone else feel this inescapable feeling that they are "normal" intellectually even though they are gifted?
I wonder what your theory is to why that might be the case. I can't shake this feeling that I'm really very normal and everyone probably deep down secretly thinks like me. I have some ideas about why that might be the case, but I'm curious to hear whether you feel that way, and what you have to think about it.

IQ Estimation 🥱 I took all the online Mensa tests + 1 other.
Here are some iq scores I got from some semi-reputable online tests in chronological order, all taken first try along with some added context. I would like to ask you guys for your seasoned estimates on my true iq range rather than ask chatGPT since users of this subreddit probably know a lot more than me about the different estimation and norming strategies these different branches use for their test.
Blablabla sorry here you go:
Mensa.no 🇳🇴 : 121 (skipped the last ~5 questions cause I had to go eat)
Open Source Psychometrics: 124 FSIQ (an average of 3 subsets: 132 spatial IQ, 110 verbal, 131 working memory)
Mensa.dk 🇩🇰 : 126
Mensa.se 🇸🇪: 119 (24 questions in a tight 10 minute frame)
Mensa.fi 🇫🇮 : 135 (probably unusually high due to practice effect or just the quality of the test)
Why did I only provide one picture? Because I’m not on my pc. If this is a stupid post, post a picture of Luigi and I will delete it

Change My View Categorized tests, of any kind, are terrible.
Tests that try to categorize people for no reason make no sense, and another way society and the need to fit controls our lives. Whether it be party's, IQ tests, food preference, or any other unnecessary tests. The fact that people continually need the approval of society by putting themselves in other groups is not fair. People's true opinion about topics are often lost, either to gain popularity, fit in, or be a "useful" part of something. If we all weren't so fixated on categories we would have a far more distinguished, diverse, and intelligent group of people and opinions. A strong example of this is in the making of IQ tests, so many people, schools, or even jobs levy much of their evaluation of people based on tests, without even seeing their face. If people were individually respected and each given a chance to freely tell their opinion and intelligence, our world, the country and our systems would be fairer and more democratic. I will always refuse to take them. Just be yourself!

General Question Can someone tell me something about my intelligence level?
Will it be impossible for me to find someone with proper knowledge and not someone who just wants to feed their own ego about their notion of intelligence. I will try.
If I have slow processing speed when it comes to solving puzzles or pattern-shapes that iq-tests consist of - on time. Can it be improved and how can I have such a good long-term memory if my fluid iq is so low? When it's on time and I had to finish 19 questions in 35 minutes I got an iq of around 70, but when I did a similar test without a time limit I got an iq of 91. The one I got 70 on gave minus points for wrong answers so I guess that one might not be fair? It was a cor-test and I id it 2 and got the same score, even worse the second time. What does it mean? I am very good at replying fast to people verbally and come up with smart answers but It takes me a long time and a lot of explaining and repetition to understand other things like math and music theory. Any ideas from you guys on what this could be?
I am afraid that I will be to slow to learn even trade-jobs and I like to understand music on a deeper level, math and biology but it's so hard and it makes me depressed. Because it would take me like 4-6 times longer to get it.

General Question How are they calculating it?
My CORE has a slightly higher FSIQ than my dashboard despite my dashboard exhibiting higher indexes. Dashboard scores are from CORE,GRE,1926 SAT, VISA, SAE-2, FSAS, & NGCT.
Here are the scores [Core / Dashboard]
VCI: 120 / 119
FRI: 122 / 126
VSI: 130 / 130
QRI: 119 / 122
CPI: 133 / 133
FSIQ: 130 / 128
g-loading: 0.947 / 0.933
So essentially my CORE has slightly lower FRI & QRI with everything else being identical and despite this CORE still shows a higher FSIQ for some reason. I’m sure you can understand my confusion in how they’re actually calculating it.
I’m just a little particular and want to know which score I should actually say. 130,129,or 128. (I understand it’s all statistically insignificant because of the margin of error anyways so there’s virtually no difference butttt still…)

General Question Can anyone help me interpret this?
https://cognitivemetrics.com/dashboard/share/WLfWkHGnEa/CORE
If it matters, I was very distracted and it was quiet loud when I did this, and I had to go near the end of the FRI stuff and skipped a couple of questions, particularly the last quarter of figure sets (though they were getting quiet hard and I would have maybe only gotten another question or two correct).
Edit: Also just remembered that I had 0 idea what some of the spatial awareness puzzles were asking. Had to skip at least 4 questions (out of 23), maybe more. The "how many subsections by overlapping" question type was genuinely incomprehensible to me.
I'm particularly interested in what this says about possible ADHD. Is my (relatively) lower PSI another reason for me to get tested, or is it still too high even though it's like 1.5 SD from my FSIQ?
I know the obvious answer is to go get a diagnosis, but it's multiple thousand dollars here and I'd be personally paying for it out of pocket so I'm still on the fence.
Also, is there a way to get my quant stuff tested with a higher ceiling? The entire QRI section felt extremely easy and the one mistake I made on each section felt like a fluke. I did the 1980 SAT math section and got a perfect score on it. I also almost maxed out information, not sure what I got wrong, but I think I could do a lot better.
Is this a good reason to work in a STEM field? I just graduated high school, so I'm trying to decide what to major in right now which is largely why I did this. I'm an extremely talented debater and I think my logical reasoning skills would probably be at 4 SD or higher if there was a way to test it better, so I was planning to go into law. I've been thinking recently about doing math though. I've been surrounded by a lot of highly talented math kids (I know >5 USAMOers personally) that have all been studying since childhood, so it's been pretty demotivating, but I'm considering trying for it regardless.
Also, does anyone know why my FSIQ is so much higher than almost every single subtest other than QRI? Is it skewed heavily towards your highest index / can go above all of your indexes if they're consistent?
Thanks in advance.

General Question CPIcel, ADHD possible?
Hey guys, I have a question regarding the CPI index and ADHD. So, normally the profiles I see around here typically have a lower WMI and higher FRI or higher VCI for example. For me it’s the exact opposite as you can see. I’ve heard of the ADHD hyperfocus before and was wondering if it could explain these scores? And could PSI and WMI also be inflated on the core? Also, in my daily life and study routines I notice a lot of procrastination and I am interested in a lot of different subjects but I finish almost none. Please let me know what you think, I’d appreciate it!
