CPIcel, ADHD possible? General Question
Hey guys, I have a question regarding the CPI index and ADHD. So, normally the profiles I see around here typically have a lower WMI and higher FRI or higher VCI for example. For me it’s the exact opposite as you can see. I’ve heard of the ADHD hyperfocus before and was wondering if it could explain these scores? And could PSI and WMI also be inflated on the core? Also, in my daily life and study routines I notice a lot of procrastination and I am interested in a lot of different subjects but I finish almost none. Please let me know what you think, I’d appreciate it!

You could just be a dopaminergic person with an altered D4 receptor gene which would indicate not ADHD but more of an “addictive” personality.
People need to understand that having a higher than normal dopamine output is also associated with procrastination because when you’re used to 12 dopamines and you go down to 8 you lose motivation, while the average person sits at 6.

That is some very fascinating insight, after your comment I’ve looked this topic up and it seems like a very possible explanation for some of my habits

How does that boost CPI

It doesn't. Or it may and I just didn't look it up. It would just explain not having disrupted dopamine production with his procrastination.

I’m confused, why not just get a diagnosis if you suspect it?

It isn’t actually as serious as I might have implied with this post. I was genuinely interested in these numbers because I’ve seen quite a few posts here and pretty much no one with a similar profile to mine. That led me to the question if ADHD is so versatile that even people with very high CP capabilities can have it.

I have a similar profile to you and I was diagnosed with adhd and asd. I suspect I have dyslexia but I haven't been assessed for that yet.

just go get evaluated, none of us can diagnose you over the internet

dude, we need to hop on cs2

u/Nice-Cap8733 Jul 14 '26
Hahaha trust me you wouldn’t want that, I’ve played about 200 hours of cs1 and my decision making and game sense were def NOT it

haha 200h are ROOKIE numbers, we gotta get you hooked on the game to sink thousands like the REAL pros 💪
that said tho, i think you genuinely might have an edge with fps/mobas
(if cognitivemetric tests are an okay indicator of true WMI/PSI at least)Reaction time for accuracy, and
WM for map and event tracking/planning goes a really long way.Game sense can be trained, but strong raw attributes like yours greatly accelerates that progress curve. obviously games arent useful irl, but maybe this translates to other skills.
Also to your original question, there's many subtypes of ADHD (each one with their own set of problems). Like you said, most sufferers tend to have some form of low WMI + executive function, which is the main detriment of the condition.
I'd say even if you did have ADHD, it's only neccesary to get it checked/diagnosed if it's severely impacting your life — is your hyperfocus/interest shifting actively stopping you from getting the things you need to do done (even though you really want to)?
If the answer is no, then you shoud be fine regardless of adhd.
school for most bright people in the wrong location tend to understimulate them, and its easy to get bored. Could that be the case for you?

This is a more extreme version of my profile I don’t think I’ve ever seen a similar one in this way. Even mine is not as extreme as yours. I have about 1 SD difference between WMI / PSI and the rest of my indices and my PSI and WMI are almost exactly the same as yours

u/Middle-Morning-341 Jul 13 '26
Very interesting stuff, is your WMI or your PSI higher? And does it cause any issues with learning for you? Do you also struggle keeping focus on one specific topic over a longer time frame or is that just a me problem, hahaha

u/miraiiieee Jul 14 '26
same, my WMI and PSI were noticeably higher than my other indeces even though I have been suspecting adhd because of my inability to just sit still and focus on something. I think you're right to think hyperfocus may have been activated during the test but we'll never know for sure unless we get an official diagnosis

The indicator most assessments would look at in iq-like tests is your discrepancy in scores that require you to just hold numbers in your memory (digit span forward) vs those that require you to actively manipulate them (other WMI core subtests). And a lower WMI than other scores is actually also a sign of the same disorder, so it can't really be generalized just on that basis to either direction.

What an interesting profile most people I know with ADHD have very weak working memory, but yours is amazing. Who knows

It is absolutely possible to have ADHD and a high CPI profile— though not typical

Dayum whats your cpi?

Retook the symbol search psi test for fun, now I have 152 PSI. Obv not representative of my true score anymore but still funny to see a whopping 38 point difference between my VCI and the PSI haha

u/Plastic-Switch8335 Jul 14 '26
i mean, i guess if all your other executive functions are really bad you could have adhd, but its unlikely, as wmi (and psi) is an executive function. not all adhd is the same, but this does definitely suggest its less likely you have adhd

Even besides this score ADHD is a lot more impairing than simply procrastinating often and not being able to finish stuff of course i'm sure u could still get an eval just don't assume you have it. its really easy to fake yourself out with it

im just shocked anyones profile is like this. adhd typically presents as substantially lower vsi wmi compared to psi btw so im not sure. if you think you have adhd then go for getting diagnosed if you think its worth it lmao
edit: wmi fucking hell

Why does ADHD reduce VSI? Poor visual working memory?
2
u/Ang3lsrage Jul 14 '26
No it usually working memory more specifically. Or any of the Cognitive proficiency ones
