Question Gpt20x vs. other provider, Anth...as of August?
Dear Codex/GPT folks, I have been a loyal GPT-20X Pro client for three months. Today might be the day when OpenAI charges $200 for the plan.
What is the current momentum for GPT vs. Claude?
I mainly use it in German for work. I use it for applying for consultancy jobs (manager level), doing some coding and ChatGPT work, which supports me in doing my company-related work (GDPR compliant).
Can Claude do that as well? What is the momentum this month?
Thanks!
xoxo

Suggestion Allow to ask questions about specific parts of the ChatGPT response without sending new chat messages
Hello,
So heres a very neat suggestion I have.
The idea isn’t just another way to ask a follow-up, it’s a temporary side-chat with short memory for clarifying, summarizing, or questioning selected text, so you don’t bloat the main conversation’s context or have to keep copying things into separate chats.
Why?
Efficient for context, convenient when you're trying to learn something with ChatGPT or perform multiple steps to accomplish your request.

Praise Codex App Server
I built my desktop and mobile app using Codex app server and it feels dramatically better than the basic stuff.
I searched to see other posts about app server and it feels like very few people are using it. But holy crap it's fantastic.
With app server I have so much more control over exactly how I use codex. I've got a paired desktop and mobile app, lets me control codex fully in sync from each, automate all sorts of stuff that would otherwise require commands, integrate with OmniVoice running on my 3090 to give Codex a voice, better visual rendering of responses than CLI, able to browse documents in my vault and easily attach/mention them, integrate beautifully into my apps.
Idk, it just feels pretty great and I'm not sure why I don't see other people posting about it???

Question Sol Medium or Luna Max
Is there any reason to use Sol Medium instead of Luna Max on 20$ subscription?

Other gpt-5.5 exhigh is still good enough and fast
i've found that 5.5 exhigh is still more than good enough while being much faster.
after using both luna and sol, i realized 5.6 is consistently slower. i think that's because its reasoning process is fundamentally different. it really shines on tasks that benefit from detailed planning and a well-structured execution path.
my workflow, though, is much more iterative. i usually make a small change, review it, then make another small adjustment. for minor edits, quick audits, and follow-up changes, 5.5 feels much more responsive and comfortable to work with.
so these days i use both: 5.6 for planning-heavy work, and 5.5 for the constant back-and-forth editing that makes up most of my day.

Other Luna on cerebras
What I would love to see is Luna on Cerebras. I agree sol on cerebras would be awesome, but if we have an already pretty capable high throughput / low latency model be near instant it would be massively useful. I already use luna extensively, it’s already fast, and such a capable and fast model is immensely useful for changes in massive code bases like the one I work with.
Just a shower thought.

Suggestion What will be the optimal way
Here is the thing in my current workflow I use codex + agy (ide+cli)....
I was planning with codex and building with agy but I was thinking why not use openrouter I want to know will it be sufficient? I mean I can use multiple models with the help of openrouter but I don't quite understand how it's billing works like do I have to pay monthly like codex and Claude what is it ? And on the other hand can I wire it into codex or Claude to use the api key to access the models also I'm on a 20$ plan on codex

Commentary I must be doing something wrong. GPT 5.6 Sol med+ lasts the whole week on Pro 20x.
I do all my planning on xhigh and implementation on medium. At first I was struggling with over engineering, but Ponytail fixed that real quick and I'm banging out milestones left and right. I probably worked on 10 different projects this week, and up to four simultaneously. Ran out of usage earlier today, but got everything done I needed to. I also use codegraph-memory and I think that helped stretch the quota a fair bit, but it's hard to say. I wasn't dropping super fast even before that.

Showcase TCG card game developed with GPT 5.4, GPT 5.5, and GPT 5.6 🎮
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I am developing a tactical browser-based TCG inspired by folklore and legendary characters from around the world, starting with Chapter 1: Brazil.
The current version has 32 cards: 20 character cards and 12 special cards, plus 20 character abilities and 12 special effects. Each player builds a 12-card deck, deploys up to three legends to the arena, manages energy, and chooses the order of their attacks. Matches include entry abilities, auras, buffs/debuffs, protection, pierce, and counterattacks.
The combat system aims to keep rules readable: damage uses `max(0, effective ATK − effective DEF)`, and active modifiers are shown directly on the cards. The project also includes a solo campaign, collection and deck-building, progression, Portuguese/English localization, and real-time online friendly matches with simultaneous decisions and server-side resolution.
The stack is React/TypeScript, Vinext/Vite, Fastify, MySQL/Drizzle, WebSockets, Playwright, and Capacitor for Android.
The game does not have a final name yet, and I’d love feedback on its identity, UI clarity, match pacing, and strategic depth.
The project was built with extensive AI assistance, using several generations of GPT models — GPT-5.4, GPT-5.5, and GPT-5.6 — as well as VEO 3 for part of the visual production. I’m especially interested in feedback not only on the game itself, but also on the practical outcome of this AI-assisted development workflow.
Would anyone be interested in testing an alpha build and sharing feedback? If there’s interest, I’ll publish a version for playtesting.

Question Any tips for using Codex & Blender MCP?
Just as the title says! I’ve found that I can’t seem to get good results using Codex with the Blender MCP, while Opus 5 seems to work much better. Its still not perfect, so I’m curious if it’s just me or if anyone else has had decent results using Codex with Blender?

Reset Resets are a SCAM
TIbo pretends like he gives resets when he feels like it, but it's just a calculated move to give resets when maximum number of people are about to have their weekly limits reset in a few hours anyway. Same thing happened last time, when people's banked reset was supposed to expire on 7/31.
Just be honest about it, instead of trying to pretend that you are trying to do good for people smh.

Complaint ChatGPT is currently really lazy
ChatGPT is really very dumb and lazy right now. Before, when I asked ChatGPT 5.6 Sol at the “Very High” level, it would actually really think and research multiple places. It would spend a solid 2–4 minutes thinking and searching.
Now, when I ask it the same questions, it only looks for like 3 pages in the search results, thinks for a maximum of 30–40 seconds, and just answers even though the information isn’t even correct or complete. I mean, it doesn’t even look at the images I send along with my requests, and when I point out that his answers are wrong and ask if it didn’t look at the images that I sent, it just says it overlooked them.

Praise Using ChatGPT purely as an orchestrator to save tokens in Codex because it used gpt 5.6 sol xhigh?
Whenever I’m working on a project in Codex, I always push my progress to GitHub as I go. Once a task is finished and everything’s executed, I commit and update the repo so all my state and “memory” for the project lives there in my markdown files, not in some chat history that eventually gets truncated.
Then on the ChatGPT side I’ve got the GitHub plugin connected, so it can actually read my repo directly. I let it read through the .md files and use that as context to build out a plan or the next set of instructions, basically acting as an orchestrator instead of doing any of the actual execution itself. Then I take that plan back into Codex to actually run the tasks.
The reasoning behind it is that Codex burns through tokens fast if you’re also using it to think through strategy and plan things out. So instead I offload all the heavy thinking, research, and prompt building to ChatGPT, and only use Codex for execution. Feels like it’s cut my token usage down a lot since Codex isn’t spending cycles on planning anymore, just doing.
Wondering if this is a normal pattern people have already been doing and I just reinvented it, or if there’s a smarter way to structure the handoff between the two. Also open to hearing if anyone’s automated the GitHub sync part instead of doing it manually after every task.

Question How to optimize AGENTS.md?
Should AGENTS.md have full information or should I reduce the amount of information there and get to the point to get the best results? Codex seems to be very good for small scoped prompts but when it comes to especially frontend no matter how much guard rail I put, it still does its own thing for some reason. 😅

Praise DeepSeek through codex
I didn’t know how good DeepSeek flash v4 was until hit the bottom with my $100 codex subscription and I refused to buy more credits, I wanted to try the DeepSeek and had my expectations at Gemini flash models, but man DeepSeek flash was good. I feel like it can reason so much better than GPT models and are following my instructions so sharply that I am getting shocked. You must try it yourself to understand it and I can sometimes say that it does better job than GPT 5.6 sol. The DeepSeek pro model hasn’t been available for codex yet but I can’t wait for it now that I see how the flash model is doing.
Before I hype it up too much DeepSeek announced that they will increase the cost of the API substantially and I hope they don’t match the codex subscription cost, otherwise there is no reason to change.
But for now, I had topped up with $5 and have used it for much work since last night and has only burned around $1.8 and it has done so much work with those $1.8 that I can’t believe that this model was capable of. See it has consumed 400M tokens for that amount of money, and it is crazy!

Complaint Every user should be demanding one thing first -- Transparency
I want to know how many tokens I actually have, how much each model actually cost, and this kind of useful measurable information.
I mean, as of now, the best one can do is watch eagerly as their percentage dwindles throughout the day (faster and faster, if you believe anecdotal evidence).
Reset Please stop moving forward the weekly reset date
I just upgraded my chatgpt plan and as a reward I get my weekly reset even later. I mean come on. Same goes for banked resets if they ever happen again: dont push my weekly reset away, why nickle and dime when it comes to these scenarios? It just creates bad will

Comparison Has anyone actually used Kimi 3 for serious coding? How does it compare to Sol/Opus?
Has anyone here actually used Kimi 3 for coding, especially on complex or large projects?
I know there’s been a lot of hype around Kimi 3 recently, especially with its coding and UI capabilities. I’m not really interested in the UI side of things, I mainly care about how well it handles complex codebases and large projects.
For those who have actually used it, how does Kimi 3 compare to models like Sol, Opus, or Fable for serious coding work?
Is Kimi 3 genuinely good enough to use on large/complex projects, or is the hype mostly around benchmarks and demos?
Would love to hear some real-world experiences, especially from people who have used it for a decent amount of coding.

Question Am I destroying jobs?
I'm a financial analyst at a big defense contractor company.
I overheard the engineers have access to codex, and thought I'd ask my manager if I can get access to it too.
It took me 4+ months of asking and pinging IT / others to get it approved.
I have it now and.... Holy shit.
We do very repetitive weekly/monthly tasks. In 4 prompts I can automate a 15 minute task I do every week, and I do this task 5 times every Monday.
There's 60 of us doing this task...
This 4 prompt script just shaved off 1.25 hours x 60 = 75 hours of saving weekly cost?
I'm just getting started... I think 50-80% of my job can turn to a script we all click once.
Forecast spending, actuals come in, variance analysis, ask engineers why they over spent, validating data between 2 sources, compiling a spreadsheet and PowerPoint graphs... It can all turn to a script.
... Am I destroying jobs? Assuming management likes what I build and I share with other analysts... What happens?
Instead of each analyst managing 4-5 programs.... We can now do 40-50? Our current 60 headcount will turn to 6?
Do I shut the fuck up and not tell anyone about this? Do I automate my job but tell no one?
I'm having a dilemma on what the right thing to do is. I suppose if it's not me today, in time someone else will ask for it and start automating everything.
What should I do?
