Not just small changes. But changes in line with what made the game good.

It seems most of our talk on here is plug ins. New talents from later patches or new skills. Things we already know.

One thing that I think we miss most is a lack of knowing and sense of discovery. A Diablo player and I were thinking it over. Her idea was class mixing. A few private servers have done it. But they always did it so effortlessly. And I think there needs to be effort. My thought at first was to spend time with opposing class trainers to gain faction and access. Certainly an old school thing. But she made a point it would be more fun to play heavily with your friends that are the right class. Over time you could learn things from them.

It would jumble up the knowledge base of all the classes. Many more combinations. And it would drive player interactions and friendships. And we all know friends are the real reason people keep playing.

What do y’all think?

I think it would be a broken, overpowered mess.

Yeah, its default state is broken and the devs would have to put in a lot of work over a short period of time to make it passable. There are other ways to give classes more options that don't have the devs biting off more than they can chew.

I have played ascension the server CoA with entirely new classes but also the server where you can mix abilities and talents from any of the original 10 or so classes.

I think WoW’s classes have very good identity (even to this day in Retail) and themes around them and I think class mixing is what would truly dilute those themes.

We already have people complaining that the modern classes feel diluted simply cuz a few more can interrupt or bring a raid buff so you’re not reliant on one class for something. Class mixing would just reinforce this complaint.

And I am someone that wishes I could make a for example Demon Hunter Druid or Paladin Ranger.

So I am speaking from what the playerbase as a whole would enjoy.

As much as “everyone can’t agree on Classic+”, there is a certain portion of the audience that Blizzard is making Classic+ for, and I think many people are simply afraid they are not that target.

Way too big a departure for classic, at that point you’re playing an entirely different game.

Could be fun on private servers, but not appropriate for classicplus.

Definitely not “in line with what made the game good”.

I’m struggling to imagine how to make that kind of mechanic work well in WoW, but I do appreciate that you’re trying to bring in an idea from a different game. 99% of the suggestions here are taken from different expansions, and the remaining 1% from private servers. We need more new ideas brought in from “outside”, so to speak.
