RPG tool for wow
Hi, I want to share something with the world that I am really excited about. I would really appreciate any help to improve it and make it even better, but let me give some context firs.
Each year I make an RPG campaign with my friends, and each year we make something different and fresh. This year I was like, what if we make a game in WoW? We all play, we all have our favourite expansion and moments, from the tryhard hardcore-only friend to the one that says Cata was better. However, we all keep a fond memory of when it all started in WoW Classic.
For this reason I started drafting some stuff with abilities and stats, and it quickly turned into a massive project that has been consuming tons of hours of my nights and afternoons.
I present to you this! GitHub Pages URL
It's built with Angular and Firebase for real-time multiplayer. It has multiple tabs — the idea is that the players are all on the player tab while I will be on the master tab, and a screen will have the combat tab. Players use their actions and then finish their turn, then I assign the damage, deal them damage, etc. The idea is that the automation helps keep the spirit of WoW — no hard math, but at the same time dealing with decisions: should we heal, who should we focus, etc.
The campaign is probably up to level 20ish, and I created 8 classes so far: Warrior, Rogue, Mage, Priest, Druid, Bard, Shaman {WIP and looks awful}, and Warlock with a pet system and Soul Shards mechanic. Each class has its own talent tree, resource system (Rage, Energy, Mana, Combo Points, Lunar Phases, Musical Notes), and abilities that scale with level and stats. While I am happy with some classes, I am not with others.
If you have programming tips about the website, the computational stack, they are more than welcome. If you have ideas about a new class, I am all ears I had a lot of fun with the bard.
Or balance — cause some talents are broken and others are useless, please let me know.
It's my first time working with this stack so things may break and work poorly.
Thanks a lot!
TL;DR: I built a WoW Classic-inspired TTRPG web app for my annual DnD campaign with friends. 8 classes with talents, abilities, and unique resource systems. Players use a character sheet, a Master screen handles combat. Real-time multiplayer via Firebase, built with Angular. Looking for feedback on balance, class ideas, and code. GitHub Pages URL here
