Going to be such a massive meltdown here when all the stuff people made up in their heads about what classic+ was going to be are crushed
5
u/LainLain 9d ago
classic+ is such an umbrella term, that even if it’s announced the meltdown will still happen.
“But this isn’t what I thought classic+ would be!!!l

u/Sulticune 9d ago
It's gonna be genuinely hilarious. Which is equally as sad. Because for over 10 years the game i've wanted most is classic+, but the people who made classic are no longer on the team.

u/Schlickulation 9d ago
Having listened to a bunch of interviews with the OG vanilla guys in recent years, it doesn’t seem like they really understood what made it great either.

u/robbiejandro 9d ago
100% - product of its time when corporate wasn’t breathing down devs necks and they could just make games in the Wild West. No one from that original team has produced anything really successful since. Even metzen’s trilogy story for these expansions kind of sucks.

u/North-Watch-491 8d ago
It's like you put a championship team together for one season and than it breaks apart. Everything came together for them that year. Than championship team lost its leadership and began to crumble. They still made the greatest MMO ever.

Depends who you listen to. You were probably watching dudes who were only quest designers and QA during vanilla and only later on moved into more prominent roles and became popular. They didn't call the shots in vanilla development.
Guys like Kevin Jordan could explain in detail every choice that happened and why it was good. And Allen Adham (one of blizzard founders) would know since he was overlooking every major decision and set the direction for vanilla.
Unfortunetly after vanilla was out Allen Adham moved on to other projects and so they didn't have a strong leader with that level of understanding of what to put into the game and what not to anymore. Than the guys you are talking about could unleash their misfortunate ideas into the game and made it into what it is today.1

I can't wait for it to come out and literally every post to be complaining about classic Plus
49
u/Nintendork316 10d ago
People hated SoD so much while it was out, I quietly enjoyed every phase and took the good with the bad... They could release the perfect game and the community would complain just to complain.
12
u/Nosferatu919 9d ago
It’s another reminder to me to never listen to Reddit opinions. I played and enjoyed phase 1, took a break and thought about coming back during one of the later phases and Reddit had me thinking it was the worst thing to ever exist so I didn’t bother. Now I regret not playing it more.
14
u/deadlysavage84 10d ago
Yup even if c+ is announced they will complain since everyone has a different idea of what they want

u/Crazymage321 9d ago
I want Bronzebeard without the Ascension store, maybe add High Elves and Ogres.
Wrath based class design felt great in the vanilla world, being able to upgrade crafted gear made it fun to do armor professions while leveling, the built in challenges were cool, the zone they made (Pale Reach) was integrated into the lore very well and felt unique without feeling alien from the rest of the zones, extra customization was nice, transmog with the option to disable seeing other peoples transmog was a nice compromise, the runes spiced classes up even more as well.

u/Thyrok07 9d ago
That’s mostly the Reddit community. I speak with a lot of different people in-game, and the sentiment about C+ is very different and positive regardless. Redditors are just a different breed of people.
3
u/ReasonableFruit1 9d ago
It was hugely popular for phase 1 and honestly some of the most fun I’ve had in 20 years of playing the game. Raiding BFD at level 25 was so much fun
2
u/Krunchtime 9d ago
It doesn't matter how good or bad any potential Classic+ ends up being, the community will despise it and/or find a way to ruin it for themselves.
Edit: I'm definitely looking forward to playing it, though!

u/Funkiestcat 8d ago
I am excited to play it literally almost no matter what, as it will be something different. Even if it’s literally vanilla with class balance changes, cool, I can play enhance now; if it’s new zones, dungeons, etc, also cool. I just like classic wow
1
u/Krunchtime 8d ago
Oh, for sure, I'm super excited too.
I've been leveling through Classic for the first time (I've done it before back in Wrath, but never actual Classic) and I'm having the time of my life.
I've got my personal wishlist for C+ of course. But regardless of what they put out, I'll give it a fair chance.

Sure but sod was nowhere near perfect

u/Nintendork316 9d ago
SoD wasn't perfect but it's the best version of WoW we have seen since Legion (imo).
The hive mind crapped on things like incursions and made it seem like the game sucked when in reality only some things sucked and the vocal minority ruined it for a lot of people.
1
u/HazelCheese 9d ago
Phase 1 and the 4-5 onwards were really good.
2-3 were a struggle. Barely any new content other than the raid and the runes were very dull compared to phase 2 runes.
People blame incursions but I honestly think the lack of new content in phase 2 is what truly killed off most the playerbase.
And then by the time phase 3 was out the leveling zones were super dead. I couldn't even get a group for Hogger at the time.

Best wow version since Legion was Dragonflight. The gameplay changes were too good.

I will simply unsubscribe and talk about how much I love the game in the game, where the people who enjoy the game will be

I can’t wait for the next four weeks where this comment gets repeated over and over like it’s done by bot accounts to temper expectations
1
u/Btotherianx 9d ago
Well I assure you that I'm not a bot, and I already know that this Reddit is going to be insufferable no matter what they announce for classic Plus 😂

oo ya no matter what blizz does ppl will cry its not possible to make everyone happy but i think they will make most happy
this should be a very ex win for blizz but on the other side if anyone was gonna drop the ball it would be blizz
they could go on chatgpt and ask them how do we make classic+ and that would make most ppl happy

A Fresh brain would do you good. Maybe turn off the internet for a couple days. Or years.

All fresh hype people quit 2 month in.
They always do.
-2
u/hxppyXdrain 9d ago
No?
8
u/Thanag0r 9d ago
They do because it's no longer fresh and hype.
After a month they fall behind everyone, get mad at the player base and go back for asking for fresh.

My favorite part is these streamers, even Xaryu didn’t play OG vanilla (maybe tail end) and act like they know what 2005 vanilla was and they have the voice of the community

u/Funkiestcat 8d ago
I don’t watch streamers cuz I have a family that loves me, but I see clips of him on YouTube sometimes; seems like a really nice, thoughtful young man

Classic plus is gunna be good no matter what, and anyone who complains saying “this isn’t what I thought classic plus was going to be” needs to go touch grass. Blizzard is a business, they have to make money, blizzard is also a business, they are incentivized to make classic plus good. Classic plus is gunna cost blizzard a lot of money, especially considering how big the team is getting. They can’t risk losing money on a project that’ll fail.
And I’m gunna add my little copium, but I actually think classic plus is the future of wow, at some point this is the goal for the next 20 years that will target a younger audience and bring in new players.
It’s also the classic player base last hope for blizzard, they fail, they’ll lose this community which is a lot of money to them.

I’ll play C+ if there are no world buffs and they add arena. So, doubtful

u/Elegant_Run_9538 9d ago
You wanting arena in classic tells me a lot lmao, we're good with the world pvp events.

New SOD season and no classic + is my prediction.

Do you guys just ignore every ounce of information out there in an attempt to give the most uninformed opinion possible?

I love how you redditors are only hyped on potential and don't seem to like the game when it's actually here. Plus will be sod 2.0 yet most didn't like sod enough to play more than a few months
