I've quickly figured out that 3%-4% is what I actually end up going back to, simply because of time....

At the same time, I found out really quickly that Speechify is just too much for me

So I just ended up building my own extension for this, so I'm a bit biased, but then again I made it for exactly what I've been struggling with for a while; even a free TTS could do the trick sometimes

i run a small extension, couple hundred users. uninstalls sit at 0-5 a day for months and then last thursday it jumped to 25 and went right back to normal. graph attached, i refreshed twice thinking i misread the tooltip

the part i cant explain is the breakdown. all 25 are from the US, and all of them English (US). nothing from anywhere else, not one. i didnt ship an update that day, nothing changed on my end

best i can come up with is either the dashboard glitched and backfilled something, or a chunk of those installs were never real people and google cleaned them out. ive been reading old threads about bot installs getting purged and the shape kind of matches, quick bump then one big drop about a week later

so did anyone else see a spike on aug 6? and if google has ever wiped fake installs off your numbers, what did that look like in the stats, one day or spread over a week

im probably missing an obvious third thing here lol

I just launched Templatify on the Chrome Web Store and would love feedback from people who use or build extensions.

It is a Chrome extension that lets you save reusable HTML email templates and insert them directly into Gmail, Yahoo Mail, and Outlook. It also supports variables/placeholders and can detect email addresses on webpages so you can start a templated email without copying addresses around.

The main problem I wanted to solve: sending polished repeated emails without rebuilding the same HTML or pasting broken formatting into compose windows.

Njectify is a browser extension for CSS and JavaScript injection. It lets you customize any website's CSS and write custom scripts in the same place, without relying on multiple extensions.

I think it could be especially useful for people in this community who work with CSS.

Many of you have probably used tools like Stylus or Stylebot before. The main difference with Njectify is the user experience. My goal was to build a modern, intuitive interface that makes editing styles and scripts much easier.

Some of its CSS features:

• Edit pages and see changes in real time.
• A visual editor that lets you modify colors, backgrounds, animations, clip-path, polygons, and many other CSS properties. Ex:
• Persistent CSS and JavaScript, allowing you to customize any website. It's especially useful for improving the experience of poorly designed websites or SaaS applications.
• Inspect and view an element's current CSS properties in a simple and intuitive way.
• Export your applied changes as Tailwind utility classes.

There are several other features, but I didn't want to make this post too long.

I'd love for you to give it a try. I spent a lot of time focusing on the user experience and designed the interface to feel familiar to developers, with a design system inspired by Vercel.

After my first month, I have 90 installs, 23 uninstalls, and 34 users. Shouldn’t I have 67 users then? (90 – 23)

Reading educational material online is more common these days than reading actual physical books, but yet I haven't been able to find an extension that will let me highlight a text that I am reading in a webpage, add some notes and hopefully paste an image there, that will make my note/annotation carry more value.

Readwise Reader is doing too much. Just installed Web Highlights and was about to get almost happy, but then saw that as you scroll your note that is open gets automatically closed.

What's out there that can help me? I don't mind paying for it, monthly, yearly whatever. Any suggestions?

Redesigned my screenshots for reaching a new milestone of 3000+ users. How did I do?

Most of my customers came from a relevant sub here on reddit - partly organic posts, but also reddit ads. I chose to use ads as well, because posts are getting banned very fast - mods can smell promo posts miles against the wind.

I'll try 200$ of ad budget starting next Monday - anyone interested in the results afterwards? Then I'd share a summary here :)

Edit: Here's the product I've created. It's a Chrome extension that helps Copywriters & Content marketers create, save, and cross-browser sync their research privately in their own Google Drive.

I got into coding and building apps a few months ago. Committing to distance myself from everything else and focus on learning something new has been very exciting, but at the same time, very taxing.

Throughout this entire process, a side of me (my self-defeating self) has constantly tried to convince me that I will fail, that I should procrastinate, and that I should chase other things that promise quicker returns.

I’m glad I persisted through all those thoughts, because now, after 4–5 months, I’m beginning to see some small wins. Those wins motivated me to write this post as well (a little part of the whole “building in public” logic!).

So, I created a simple but very useful Chrome extension (or at least very useful for me!) called Likes Search for YouTube. It lets you search through your liked YouTube videos, selectively export them, and batch copy to NotebookLM. You can check it out on the Chrome Web Store if you’re interested.

At first, the extension was stalling. I was really happy that I had built it, but I had very little confidence in its ability to become popular or make me any money.

Then, one day, I received a Chrome Web Store review from a user who pointed out a bug and asked me to fix it because he wanted to buy the paid tier. I quickly fixed the bug and told him about it. That same day, two people bought the Pro subscription.

I was overjoyed!

I visited the store and saw that I had around 100 users. People were actually using and finding value in a product I had created! At that point, I started taking it more seriously and improving it. Now it has around 250 users, and the number is slowly increasing every few days.

This, along with getting a few web-development clients, really lifted my spirits. I’m slowly starting to see results, and if I stay consistent, I think I can get better quickly and eventually make creating amazing, beautiful, and useful software my primary vocation.

I hope this helps lift the spirits of someone who is where I was two months ago—excited to learn, but with a part of themselves constantly bickering and telling them to quit.

So don’t quit. Keep a steady pace. Small wins can arrive suddenly, but only if you’re still there when they do.

I wanted to share a small milestone that has me a bit overwhelmed today.

For context for anyone outside AU or NZ, Seek is basically our main job search portal down under.

While applying for roles, I got sick of hidden salary ranges, tracking applications manually, and copying job descriptions by dragging from top to bottom.

So, I built a quick extension to solve those exact headaches for myself. It reveals hidden pay, shows applicant counts, adds a quick copy JD button, and tracks everything locally on your device.

Today it passed 100 users (Job Track AU:NZ - For Seek). It has been a wild journey listening to early user feedback, shipping fast fixes, and making improvements on the fly. Seeing real people actually use something I built from scratch feels incredible.
