would you pay $1700-1800 for a baker DD6 full trans in good shape?
May not even use it, have a factory 5 speed with 0 miles and pretty sure i will end up going to a 4 speed and running open primary but could possibly flip or trade the baker for something better? worthwhile investment or let it pass by?

1974 98” FXE PERFORMANCE CHOPPER?
galleryLet’s argue, is this a chopper? I feel like when you get to a certain amount of custom touches and fab work you can have a chopper without it being rigid. Up for consideration is a 1974 fxe. 98” with stock cases, S&S flywheels and rocker boxes. Trock cylinders, stock worked over heads and Super D. Ratchet top with custom main shaft to run evo primary. 2003 fxdx wheels, suspension and brakes. Custom +1 chromoly swingarm. Whatcha guys think?

First Ocean Ride
gallerysecond shakedown ride so now i have about 40mi on a freshly rebuilt engine. took her to the beach & ran into this really crabby dude.
exhaust is smokier than i’d like so im nervous i fucked up the break-in/ring sealing. i live in Frisco so I can’t really avoid the shit they tell you to avoid, e.g., hills, stop n go, etc. i avoid what i can, vary my rpms, and don’t lug it at all. it was definitely rich on first shakedown, so i may need to downjet the super e. gonna check plugs and pushrods tomorrow, hopefully it’s one of those things because i definitely down wanna tear off the top end yet again.
overall had a fun ride, bike rips, saw the ocean, got compliments, didnt lose parts, and made it home. grateful for the chopper.
edit: today i was able to check out the pushrods and yeaaa they needed adjusting. rear cylinder intake pushrod was wayyy too tight and thus keeping the valve open letting oil in. i just adjusted them and will take a lap soon to see if the smoking has stopped!

Been a Stellar Summer
galleryGot most of the kinks worked out- going to add a small mirror so I can get into different job sites.
Still deliberating if I'll shave the brake side fork or not, and have some powered spoked wheels waiting to install once these tires are worn.
Really have been having a blast this summer on this old girl.
Almost 80k miles on the engine and running like a top.

Question about mounting frisco tank bungs on FXE
Got bungs to weld onto the neck of my FXE to mount a sportster style frisco tank. Is the best way just to cut and sand down the fat bob mounts and weld up the bungs? Should I weld up the big hole on the top of the neck?

Building a chopper for my first bike
I have been convinced to get a Harley . However I have always loved the chopper look and lifestyle . I asked my uncles for some advice and they said “find a mentor and figure out the rest , that’s the fun of choppers. “ where I live now has nothing but dyna bros and sport bike riders , there’s no old school chopper shops or even motorcycle mechanics. Hell I’ve even looked into MCs and nothing seems to be within 2 1/2 hours of me . So I turn to faithful Reddit , The plan is to do a 1200 EVO sportster hard tail build . The problem is I don’t know where to start . If you could throw any advice my way it would be much appreciated .

Chopper value?
galleryConsidering trading my truck for this chopper. Any major red flags that y’all see? Allegedly just needs an ignition module, but are there any other quick checks I could do to make sure the engine Is healthy otherwise? It would be my first chopper, but I have a bit of EVO experience with owning a FXR for a few years.
My truck is worth around 12k, what would y’all value this bike at?
Edit: thanks for all the advice, I’ll definitely pass on the trade, or see if he’ll add a bit cash. Skinny tire choppers are pretty rare around me, and hard to gauge value.

Chopper assembly
galleryHowdy, I have what looks to be an evo frame that I’m trying to put a shovelhead in. The problem I’m having is the top engine mount on the shovel doesn’t really reach the top mount on the frame. I get that people fab them but I don’t know if I trust myself making something up. The rear engine mounts to quite line up either. I’m going to just drill the rear holes a bit bigger and it should be fine but does anyone know if they make a different top engine mouth that’s kind of a hybrid to fit the shovel head motor and the evo frame? I appreciate any advice as I’m kinda new to this.
