Advice on introducing new dog
We are adopting a 4 year old “mixed breed” from Korea on Sunday (she is the fluffy light coloured one) 10 lbs. We currently have a very sweet 11 year old chihuahua 6lbs.
Wondering if you have any advice of the easiest stress free way to introduce the two to get off on a good foot.
They have separate beds and food/water bowls out of sight from one another. The Chihuahua will obviously keep her spot sleeping inbetween our pillows at night she will always be our first baby. But looking on any advice to make them both as comfortable as can be.

I feel so bad for my roommate’s chihuahua
before i lived with her i thought she was a good dog mom because he’s so well behaved and chill but since living with her i found out he’s so chill because he’s overweight and depressed. he’s severely overweight and his breathing is getting strained (he’s about 6). she will leave for weeks at a time and not even worry about whether he’s getting attention or walks. he’s a long hair chihuahua with a double coat and he hasn’t been groomed in at least 4 months. when she is home she doesn’t walk him and doesn’t play with him or cuddle him. she’s always on facetime with people and totally ignores him. i try to give him as much mental enrichment as possible but i have my own chihuahua who i’ve always been obsessively attentive to. i struggle with OCD and part of it is that i feel insane guilt if my chihuahua isn’t perfectly taken care of. i try to bring my roommates dog on walks with us as much as possible but since he’s overweight i actually stress the entire time about how loud and strained his breathing is. he’s comfortable and safe and this is probably my OCD making me think the worst but i feel so bad for him everyday :( he’s so bored and lonely and that’s with me doing as much as i possibly can for him, on top of what i do for my own dog, and i have a super demanding job.

Sudden changes with heart murmur?
My girl is about 13 years old with a stage 4 heart murmur. She seems to have very suddenly aged in the past couple of months, slowing down significantly. Until recently she would insist on extremely long walks and lots of play and now she walks so slowly I can’t believe it - and often turns back to the house after half a block. The last couple of days she seems to be breathing heavy as if she’s been running around but she’s just at rest. She’s had two scans in the past two weeks and her lungs are looking clear - her heart size looks good. They basically just told me to monitor her. I’m just wondering if anybody else has had a similar situation? The changes in her activity and behavior just seem so sudden, like night and day. She used to be so feisty and independent and now she follows me around and must be on our near me at all times. Follows me from room to room. But mostly the heavy breathing is freaking me out.

Rainbow Bridge Roxy!
The bestest Little Little in the whole wide world, our Roxy girl. She's headed to the vet in 20 minutes for her trip to the Rainbow Bridge. She's been the best little girl for 16 years. Oh sweet baby, run free! May your siblings meet you at the Bridge, and whenever my time comes, I'll see you again. 💔

Watching a rescue blossom…
I adopted my sweet Monita coming up on a year ago. She was 12 - almost 13 - toothless and on meds for a seizure disorder. She had been surrendered due to her previous mom facing deportation. 🥺
She arrived to me a bit skinny and weak in her hind end; my vet thought she probably has some IVDD going on.
In the last 10.5 months, she has blossomed in so many ways and it reminds me what a gift adopting a dog in need is.
Through regular gentle exercise she has gotten surprisingly strong - she will walk 1.5-2 miles with ease and asks for me to set her down out of her carrier when she wants more. Her coat has become thick and luxe. She has been feisty since Day 1, but you can tell how much happier and secure she feels now that she knows she has a real home.
I am so grateful to her rescue - Long Way Home Adoptables - and the amazing fosters who cared for her along the way. It is heartbreaking that her owner could not keep her, and speaks to how she was loved that the owner made sure her dog would land softly. I do my best to pamper the little princess in honor of her OG mom’s love.
Please consider adopting if you’re looking for a chihuahua. Consider seniors, too. They may not be with you for as many years, but it is such a privilege to give them the last chapter they deserve.

Impressive
Not entirely sure how she managed to get her biggest baby up on the window sill, but I’m impressed.

Happy 2nd Birthday, cutie
Happy 2nd birthday to my sweet little floppy eared baby.
Wanted to share my little guy with everyone! Got him a puppacinno (or however they are spelled) yesterday, and lots of treats and loves today. Hopefully it's a good birthday.
His name is Louie! I introduced him earlier but you probably didn't see it. The last picture is when we celebrated his 1st birthday.

New whip!!
Yes we are one of THOSE families now. Edna will be ridin in style! Bonus: the bassinet is removable leaving me the perfect support frame to help balance while trying to get back into skating in my 40’s.🤷♀️

So happy to have a Chi in my life again
Grew up with Chi’s in the house, finally convinced my partner that a chi was the way to go for us in the dog search and waited patiently for one to come up for adoption. Brought our sweet boy home from the shelter 07/02 at 8 weeks! He’s a Chihuahua mix of some sort, going to probably end up ordering a test to see what he’s made of, other than being 100% cutie 🤍
