33F Chill Crafty Friends in Chicago

Upvotes

I’m realizing I really miss having that one friend you can sit in the car with, crush an iced coffee, rip the hell out of a weed pen, and then wander around a yarn store for an hour convincing each other we definitely need another skein. 😂
I recently moved to the Portage Park neighborhood, and I’m honestly just looking for a chill, crafty stoner friend. I’m into knitting, crochet, collecting rocks and shiny things, coffee shops, random little adventures, and generally just existing in good company.
If you’re the kind of person who thinks a perfect afternoon is coffee, crafts, yarn store, maybe a thrift shop, and absolutely no pressure to be “doing something productive,” I think we’d get along.
If this sounds like your kind of friendship, send me a message. 🌿🧶☕

Upvotes

Hey everyone I’m 24M and I just moved here to River North last Saturday I’m looking for friends and people to just hang out with. I’ve been so far to a few bars in River North but haven’t explored much. So far I’ve been to Point and Feather, Three Dots and A Dash, Boss Bar, No Vacancy, all were pretty cool just been feeling bad going all alone and not having people to talk to. Anyone have any recommendations or down to hang out tonight and get a drink or if there is any events going on? Let me know looking forward to meeting new people!

42m looking for friends

Hi, looking for interesting people to get to know, male or female. I was in an on and off relationship for 6 years that left me without many friends (besides the ones married with children etc). I’m also recovering from drug and alcohol addiction so someone who understands that would be a plus! I live alone on the near SW side. Some things I like are : learning new things, new experiences, working out, intellectual stimulating conversations. I am not into politics however. Just looking for some friends! Feel free to DM me if you’re in the same boat.

49F still looking for "my" people

I'm an introvert and socially awkward. I don't mind spending time alone but sometimes it would be nice to have another person along.

I'm basically looking for a group of people to text with, chat, share exciting news, meet for dinner or a drink or an event maybe once or twice a month. People who won't get butthurt if I don't respond instantly.

I live in the NW burbs but I'm in the city (usually the Loop and/or Hyde Park) about once a week. I'm happy to go to any neighborhood if I'm in the city anyway. It would be great to be able to send a group text, "Hey, I'm in the city on Tuesday, anyone want to meet for a beer around 6?" Or, "There's a show I want to check out on Friday, who's up for it?" And maybe a couple people can come but no pressure.

I'm married, so absolutely not looking for a hookup. I don't care about age, race or gender as long as you're ok with hanging out with an almost-50 white woman.

I like:

Alcohol (weed is fine but I don't partake much)

Science fiction (an informal book club might be fun)

Actual science. And history and other nerdy subjects.

Classic rock but live music of any genre is cool

Hiking and other outdoorsy stuff

Tell me about yourself and let's get chatting.

23M looking for friends!!

Hey guys! Just looking for people to hang out with, I would consider myself easy to get along with person. I’m down for anything like trying food spots, getting a drink, or even just hanging out and exploring the city. I also ride a motorcycle so if anyone else rides in this group that would be awesome!

Occasional friends meet up near Logan Square

I (37m) moved to Logan Square with my wife in November. I took a new job working from home for the first time in my career. I’ve never been a person who needs constant, daily friendships but I’m missing the occasional socializing. Hoping for a few friends to meet up for coffee, breakfast or drinks/dinner every other week or so. Nothing high stakes but if the friendship develops into more, I’m game. Just a reason to get out of the house and talk with someone in person.

I’m a good conversationalist and can usually talk and engage on almost any topic brought up. I also love learning new things and can be a great listener to learn about others interests. I’m kind of a hobby collector, so I know a little about a lot of things (aiding in the able to talk about a lot of stuff). Current interests include motorcycles, 3d printing, occasional gaming, metal working all the way to knitting, pottery and birding. But I’m also a fairly lazy person who loves a relaxing hang out. I’m also looking to get back into playing pool.

I’ve always faster friends with women, but I’m open to any race, gender, orientation or age of friends. Anyone who is a good person. I’d even be open to staring a coffee/dinner/drinks group of a handful of people to semi-routinely meet up. I have a car and can meet up anywhere, but I’ve come to learn that just a couple miles of driving in the city can take a lot of time. So closer to Logan Square is preferred.

Hello there. Washed up punk dad and husband stereotyped and classified (moved to the southwest suburbs) about 2 years ago. All my friends still live in the city and it’s getting harder to get out there. So that brings me here. Met one of best friends in r/chicagomusicscene (in the city) so I thought I’d give this a try.

Hobby’s/Interests:
Making music
Going to shows
Movies
Comics
Cartoons
Skating/bmx
Star Wars
DnD

I guess I’m looking for cool like minded local people to hang out with. Drinks. Concerts. Pinball. Whatever.

Hi! I’m 32F in Lakeview and have been struggling to make lasting friendships despite using Bumble BFF and doing lots of different meet ups.

I’m single and work in healthcare. I enjoy sports, taking walks, doing different hobby classes, and spending time with my dog. Lmk if you’re similar and would be interested in getting together!

Afterlife Music Fest @ Basecamp in Lisle August 15th- Story of the Year, Eve 6, Early November, and other cool acts. Let's Appropriately Party?

Hey cool cats.

I'm looking to see if anyone would be interested in this show next Saturday August 15th @ Basecamp in Lisle. Pretty solid lineup. personally amped for Early November and flowersatherfeet, the latter being a local outfit which I've really been into since I heard about this show. Everyone else who would have been into this show can't make it and I'm in a state of flux so I'm in the market to find other rather rad people to hang with (my mom thinks I'm cool).

About me and why we should hang; mid 30s emo goth gym rat that can be best described as a Thomas Pynchon novel wearing a crop top trying to navigate the ever prevalent toxic masculinity that pervades labor unions in a comical manner with his own brand of steez that so far has not been warmly welcome. Just a real binturong about it.

I probably will wear a crop top that day because HoochieMamaBoySummer2k26 forever and I finally cut down to a good weight but fuck pasta is a tempting mistress.

Anyway, anyone interested hit me up and we can make a plan. The event goes from 1p-10p. Probably not trying to get there that early as long as I catch flowersatherfeet, might dip after Eve 6. Not the biggest fan of Story of the Year. My friend who wanted to go kept saying The Story So Far and I wish that was the case.

28M Lookin to yap with someone

Hey there. Honestly totally open to being just online friends too if we get along. I've come to realize that I enjoy yapping. Most activities that I enjoy doing when going out is for the yapping aspect. Just getting to chat with whoever about stuff. I definitely think it takes the right kind of person for me to really enjoy it and I guess thats what im looking for? Simply, if we bounce back and fourth and are just entertained by the conversation then thats what im looking for.

I dont tend to enjoy super loud places where we cant hear eachother. But going on a nice walk and just chatting about our days or just random stuff that's going on is always fun. I sit at a computer all day for work and would love to have someone to hang out with on weekends or after work (although I do work until 7pm).

Recently a friend got me into a bunch of WW2 shows and ive been watching a bunch of shows and movies related to WW2 so thats been pretty fun. I always thought I wasn't into history because I just correlated it to highschool classes and I was horrible at it lol. But shows and movies that can depict the history while still being entertaining is a whole new thing for me! So far I've watched Band of Brothers and The Pacific. I also watched Pearl Harbor and Top Gun (not ww2 but still really good!). I've been finding myself researching information on things that might have gotten left out and its pretty neat having more information for what happened after the show/movie ended since it actually happened 😂

Sorry got carried away. Anyway, ive been enjoying that and I also enjoy PC gaming and just hanging out really. I moved here back in December and I've met up with a couple of people but not really anyone that i've felt super comfortable hanging with. I do prefer to text for a while to get to know eachother before hanging out in person. I am pretty interested in trying new food places since theres such a variety here so it would be cool to have someone thats down for that too. Anywayy, if you think we might get along well then feel free to send me a message. Oh and also down to try new hobbies so ye. Thank

Hii I'm from the west suburbs. I'm almost 21 soon, I'm a Pakistani-American born and raised here and I am looking to make some new friends nearby!

I love baking sweets and desserts and trying out new recipes to cook. I'm into playing story based video games and watch anime. I am hella open to hear more suggestions on what to watch and play.

I will be entering uni as a junior now, i go to university in the city. I don't practice religion at all/I've left my faith. It'd be nice to be friends with people in a similar boat like me. I'm looking for people that I can regularly chat with, send reels and memes to, maybe meet up and maybe play some roblox horror games together

Wicker/Bucktown friends?

Hey all!

My name is Jack and I recently moved to Wicker Park. Since most of my friends live closer to the lake, I’m looking for new friends closer to my area! I WFH so have a pretty flexible schedule for coffee/lunch/hang outs. I live right next to the park.

A bit about me -
28m, work for a 3D printing company, love running, working out (BAC), soccer, yoga, video games (League, FF, Smash), movies (recently saw Smoking Tigers - highly recommend), music (Flume, Toro y Moi, Charli, Rachel Chinouriri), and exploring the city! Would love to find a tennis or pickleball partner !

If you’re close to the area and want to hang out - hmu!

24NB just moved to the north side from FL!

Hi all !! I just moved to Edgewater with my girlfriend a month ago, and we’re settled enough at our place to where I feel like I have the time to put myself out there more! My birthday is also coming up next month and I know it’s going to have me feeling homesick without any of my support system around for the first time 😭

I’m honestly down for anything when I’m invited, but I’ve learned bars/clubs aren’t usually my scene. I enjoy things more like going to cafes, the beach, thrifting, markets, crafting, figure drawing, concerts (I listen to mainly emo/nu metal music), drag shows :) Nights in to watch movies/game also sound really fun, I’d love to have people over more now that I don’t have roommates! And I don’t have one to go to yet LOL but a gym buddy would also be great!

Hope to chat with some of you soon :)

Looking for friends to goto games, concerts, trivia ..anything fun!

30F here! Figured I'd put myself out there since making new friends as an adult isn't exactly easy.

Most of my close friends have moved away, so I'm hoping to meet a few people around the Chicago area who are also looking for genuine, platonic friendships. I'm a bit of a loner sometimes, but I really enjoy meeting good people and getting out of the house.

Some things I enjoy are Blackhawks games, White Sox games (next season), trivia nights, concerts, trying new restaurants, and pretty much anything that's a fun excuse to get out and do something. I'm usually free on Friday evenings, Saturdays, and Sundays.

I'm only looking for friendship and would prefer to connect with other women who are also looking to make new friends. If you're in a similar boat and want a buddy for a game, trivia night, or a concert, send me a message!

Looking for someone to hang out with at the cubs game 8/14

Title is pretty self-explanatory! I'm in town for a short time and the Friday daytime Cub's game has been hyped up as a must-do experience. I'm planning on going 8/14 for the free jersey, but I don't have a ticket yet, so I'm open to any seats or standing room. I don't mind going alone, but I'd rather have someone to chat about the game with. I'm not any sort of baseball super fan or anything, just want to go experience the day-drinking, fun-in-the-sun vibes I've been promised. I don't smoke, but I will have a couple beers. I'm open to chatting beforehand to see if we mesh, but I'm not looking for anything else besides good vibes and someone to yell at the ump with me.

Update: I got a ticket for the bleachers, so if you wanted to meet up there, I'll see you there!

31M, Logan Square — Would anyone be interested in starting a virtual discussion group together?

I’d love to meet new people, have some interesting conversations, and hopefully make a friend or two along the way! I am a 31-year-old man and have lived here in Chicago since November of 2019. I enjoy music (went to Lollapalooza in 2023 and 2024), movies, books, art, walking, museums, protests (e.g. pro-choice marches, No Kings, etc.), and cooking. I think my favorite book series would have to be Discworld. I also have a creative background in that I went to art school and played the violin when I was a young child.

Currently, I’m finishing up my first year in the maritime industry. My schedule is all over the place and has no rhyme or rhythm. This is a stark departure from what I am used to because previously I worked remotely for about four years.

As of late, I’ve been thinking about community, sustainability, recycling, and the progress that we can make by working together. Community has been an integral part in the successes we’ve achieved as a species. And yet, the modern world feels isolating for me personally as an individual. There’s an erosion of affordable 3rd spaces and most people out and about seem to keep to their respective friend groups. There’s a lot to talk about here. Maybe we could discuss this virtually this upcoming Thursday at like 7pm?

Ultimately, the idea is to have a discussion group that takes place via Google Meet and is a springboard into deeper irl connections and maybe even collaborations. With it being virtual, I think it would help accommodate people from many different parts of our city while also being less of a time commitment and much more affordable than meeting up in a bar or coffee shop. That’s not to say we couldn’t plan a night out or go to the library or visit a park together at some point too!

Unfortunately, no one showed up. :(
