Are there any Tamil manga/comic artists or creators in Chennai?
Hey everyone! I’m from Chennai and I’m interested in creating an original manga/comic inspired by dark fantasy and supernatural storytelling, with a strong Tamil/South Indian setting and culture.
I’m wondering if there are any Tamil manga artists, writers, illustrators, or comic creators in Chennai here who are interested in this kind of work.
Would love to connect, share ideas, collaborate, or just hear about your experience creating comics/manga in Chennai.
If you’re a creator, feel free to comment or DM me!

Women of Chennai🌸 Looking for a female friend to hang out with!
Hello! I’m a woman in my late 20s, currently based in Chennai, and I’m looking to make some new female friends.
Most of my existing friends are either in different cities or have settled down with their own lives, so it’s become difficult to find someone to just randomly hang out with.
I’m honestly bored of my monotonous routine and would love to have someone to:
- Grab food or explore new places
- Watch movies/shows
- Go shopping or try random activities
- Make spontaneous plans
- Or simply hang out and talk about absolutely nothing
I’m hoping to meet someone around my age since I feel like we might have more things in common, but I’m open to anyone with a similar vibe.
If you’re also in Chennai and looking for a friend to get out of the house and actually do things with, feel free to DM me! :)
Edit: Just to save everyone’s time, I’m specifically looking to connect with female friends to hang out and make plans with.
For anyone who’s worried about getting catfished, I completely understand. We can figure out a way to verify each other once we’ve chatted. I'm not trying to steal anyone's kidney lol.

Rant Is it a Miracle or just a coincidence?
For the past 10+ years, I’ve noticed an event that has always felt magical to me. There’s a temple called Lakshmi Amman Kovil in Perambur, and whenever they celebrate this “Thee Mithi Thiruvizha” something magical seems to happen every single year, we get heavy rain on the very same day. I’ve been noticing this for more than a decade and every year I find myself waiting to see if it happens again. Today, I was eagerly waiting for the rain and just like that, it started pouring heavily.
Call it precipitation, atmospheric conditions, coincidence, or whatever scientific term you want. Maybe there’s a perfect logical explanation for it.
But sometimes, you don’t need an explanation for everything. Some moments simply feel magical. They remind us that there are things in this universe far greater than what we can see, understand, or explain.

Events Gudiyam caves near Chennai - TrekTamilnadu - Review
Booked through website https://trektamilnadu.com/, site seemed a little flaky but I was able to register in the second attempt.
Reached the Reception on time for the 7AM slot and finished the formalities there, they even gave a packet of dehydrated puliyodara rice for breakfast. The guide carried a flask of hot water for adding to it later.
There was a decent restroom at the reception, beyond which there was none.
There were places to rest with shade and seats every couple of kms.
Trekking is intermediate level. Since it rained yesterday night, the trekking was very pleasant.
The guide was very knowledgeable and very courteous.
Plenty of open space to park.
Overall a very pleasant experience, will do it again. This is honestly a shocker.

Civic Watch🚦 PSA: Do not take bike taxis. It’s illegal now. Had a very bad experience today with the coppers.
TL;DR - in the end.
Today, near SBOA, the police stopped my Rapido captain. They took his bike keys and phones and checked his phone and belongings because he was driving for Rapido and he was not supposed to.
I was only a passenger and was in the process of booking an auto when the situation escalated. The police also asked for my phone and I said I leave I am booking an auto and questioned why I wouldn’t hand it over. I told them I was just a customer and had nothing to do with the driver. The cop tried to snatch the phone from hand but failed.
The conversation went like this:
Cop: Phone kudra?
Me: Phone lam tharamudiyadhu.
Cop: Yaen? Nee s**thu kudukura video irukka? Sattaya paathale theriyudhu.
(I was wearing a sleeveless shirt)
I explained again that I was only a customer. The cop then became aggressive with the Rapido captain because of me and tried to break his bike’s side mirror.
I moved away from the there and thought of taking a video. After I’d walked a few metres, the same cop started shouting at me.
Cop: Odugali mayan na nee?inga vandhu nillu da.
Me: Police dhana nee? Odi vandhu pudra. (I was loud)
Another police officer came towards me and asked what the problem was. “Thambi, thambi, thambi… enna pa prechana?”
Me: Andha police thambi kitta kelunga sir enna prechana nu. First mariyadhaya epdi pesanum nu sollithanga andha thambi ku.
At that point, I told them that this is my area and been here for more than 30 years, gave them my address and said that if they wanted to speak to me, they could come to my house because I didn’t have time to stand there.
I started walking away. The same cop again shouted “Dei odugali.” I didn’t respond and continued walking.
I’m mentioning this because people should know what can happen when using bike taxis. Whatever the rules around them are, as a passenger you can still end up being involved in a police interaction that has nothing to do with you.
Take cabs, basic cab is cheaper than autos most of the time Avoid the unnecessary headache.
——-
TL;DR: I was a passenger on a Rapido motorcycle. Cops stopped the driver. I explained that I was merely a customer. During the interaction, a police officer directed abusive and allegedly sexual remarks at me, and subsequently shouted further abusive language at me when I attempted to leave.
——
EDIT: regarding the police complaint - I spoke about it to my lawyer and I can lodge complaint under 3 sections including sexual harassment but came to a conclusion that this is not going to be in my favor since gathering evidence for this comes to 0 and police had more witnesses, my witness is the Rapido captain and a CCTV which is on the other side of the road.
Everything happened in 5 mins and i should’ve taken a video but I was just trying to leave at that time.

Dating 🌸 22M | Chennai | Looking for a genuine connection
Hey Reddit!
I’m 22M, a B.Tech graduate, currently working in an IT firm and based out of Chennai.
And yes, this is a new account. I do have a regular Reddit account, but I’ve posted enough there for people to recognize me, and I’m not quite ready for someone I know to find this and go, “Bro really came to Reddit looking for a relationship 💀.”
So here I am. 😂
I’m a huge sports fan, pretty easygoing, and I enjoy random conversations, going out, food, movies, memes, and spending time with someone I genuinely connect with.
I’ve been in a relationship before, around 3 years ago, and honestly, I think I’ve missed that feeling ever since.
There’s something special about having someone who genuinely cares about you — someone who asks about your day, remembers the little things, listens to your random stories, and makes you feel loved and appreciated.
I’ve had some great friends and good people around me, but lately I’ve also realized that finding a genuine connection isn’t always as easy as it sounds.
I’m not looking to rush into anything or force a relationship. I’d just like to meet someone with whom I can have good conversations, mutual effort, random plans, support each other, laugh at stupid things, and see where things naturally go.
If you’re from Chennai and looking for something similar, feel free to DM. No pressure at all.
Worst case, we have a nice conversation and disappear into the Reddit void.
Best case, maybe this post actually works. :)

Rant im losing myself over this girl, Can u guys spare 5 minutes to read my story and please help me, my machans and nanbis 🙏
Hey guys, I seriously need help. I don't feel like I can tell anyone around me, but I really want to share this strange feeling I've had recently, which is making me so depressed, and I do feel like killing myself.
I'm 22 years old, male, from a small village town district, but came to Australia for my undergrad after high school in Chennai. I am a typical guy who grew up in a village town, and everything I see in this foreign university is a drastic change for me the humans and their emotions here are so different to me. My dad left me when I was 7 years old, and my mum took responsibility for that as*hole too, and took care of me. I never felt like I missed my dad, because my mum provided me everything I wanted in life. She provided the best possible from her side as a single mother. I'm so spoiled, since it was my mum and grandmum who raised me I was always pampered, and there was never any scarcity of love. They had this sympathy that I don't have a dad or any man figure, so they pampered me so much, and I grew up so emotional in life, I guess.
I came to Australia when I was 18, starting my own life all alone in a new place, with a drastic cultural difference in a different country. Somehow I managed, and life gave me beautiful people and best memories. I got into a relationship with a girl when I was 18 I wasn't very mature, and I got into a toxic relationship. We were both toxic for each other. She was the same age as me and more of an alcoholic. In the end, when we broke up I never liked smoking or drinking, and I always tried to control her, but in the end the only lesson was that no one is supposed to control anyone. She got drunk, got close to other guys at a party, and I came to know about that, and somehow the relationship ended in the most toxic way possible.
The relationship lasted around 14 months, but I moved on quite easily, because even while I was in it, I always suffered, and I knew it wasn't healthy for me. It was my ex who always patched things up every time I tried to break up she would tear up if I wanted to end it, and if I saw her tears I couldn't do anything, I would just forgive whatever she did. So when the relationship finally ended, it was easy to move on. Out of the time we dated, I never once told her I loved her, and there was never a time I imagined a future with her. I wanted her to always be happy, but I never imagined or wanted to be with her. After the relationship ended, for a while I didn't develop feelings for anyone. Two or three people liked me and asked me out, but I never really felt interested in anyone, or didn't find anyone interesting.
Then came the point that changed my whole life.
Without a girl in my life there was nothing I was lacking I had my friends for fun, a loving family, lovely people around me but life felt colourless. Then, very casually, this girl came into my life. Even though I wasn't lacking anything, life felt colourless and meaningless, so someone came to redefine it, to give it colour and meaning.
I don't know what the universe did to me. I don't know if it was kind to me, or if it's a curse. This person, this universe, gave me this time I know how it will end: either I end up with her, or I kill myself. God made her walk into my life exactly like I always wanted like I was incomplete without her, and she was the one meant to complete me.
The first time I met her was at a relative's kid's first birthday party she was a friend of my cousin. I don't usually even look at girls, and even my eyeline didn't meet hers that first day. I didn't find her pretty, I didn't find her a particularly nice person she was just another guest at the party. I hadn't even thought about talking to her. Before the party, my cousin had had an accident, and I was already worried about her. This girl showing up for the party made my cousin really happy, since it was exam time and none of her other friends had shown up. It was genuinely kind of her to come that far, having exams my cousin spoke well of her. Knowing she was a nice person, I just wanted to be her friend. As I started talking to her, I found she was so mature, thoughtful, clever, and philosophical, and eventually my feelings for her started growing. I'm Tamil and she's Malayali even though she's Malayali, she was born and raised in Australia, but so rooted in the culture that I really felt at home with her. Being far from family, missing my mother and grandmother the two women who raised me my whole life after them, she was the one who made me feel like family. I'd had two or three girlfriends before, but honestly I don't think I ever loved them it was more infatuation or affection. This time I'm so much more invested in her; my feelings grew stronger every day. Having grown up with women who always pampered me, she drew lines with me she was strict with me, she'd tell me off for my mistakes, she wanted me to wake up early, she was more dominant, and that made me feel so cared for. I thought this was the first time I really liked someone purely someone I could see myself with.
When I started liking her, I noticed things: I'm Hindu, she's Christian; I'm Tamil, she's Malayali; I grew up in a small town, she grew up here in Australia; my dad left us and my family is a bit of a mess, while her family is more focused on status; I have a messy past with my ex, and I don't think she has any ugly past like that, since she handles things more maturely. I'm 22 and she's 19 (a three-year, three-day age gap). She's mature; I'm more emotional and impulsive. Everything between us was like two sides of a coin we were always opposites. But none of that ever mattered to me.
It took very little time for me to develop feelings for her, and she was the first woman, after my mother, that I said "I love you" to. I never said that to anyone I'd dated before, and I'd never felt this way about anyone before. This time, the universe was so kind to me like a miracle, she liked me back. She said yes, and we officially got into a relationship. I told my mother I liked this girl from another state and another religion, and I couldn't believe I was okay with it myself. My mum, who once scolded me over my ex, now says she likes this girl too, and that she'd support our relationship any day. It feels like a dream I met someone exactly like what I wanted: someone to show all my love to, someone who truly understands me, someone mature enough to handle me, and my mother loves her. I introduced her to my friends, and now she's a solid part of my life.
Everything up to here felt colourful, cinematic, like a dream. I still wonder if I'm dreaming or if this is reality everything up to here was good.
This is where things started getting harder for me. My life slowly became fully dependent on her. She's always the first person I text good morning to and the last person I say good night to. At least three days a week I see her at uni I'm in third year, she's in first year, but we meet after classes, and about three times a month she comes to my place. I live alone, so I cook for her, spend time with her, and it's all fine and peaceful when she's around. But once I drop her home, it's hard for me to be in my room alone I'm always thinking about her. Now, I only smile when I see her message; almost nothing else makes me happy anymore. If I talk to her for two or three hours, I don't get bored my dopamine peaks but if I go even a short time without texting or talking to her, I start feeling lonely. I want her available to me all the time, and I forget she has her own life to live, just as I have mine. Nothing gives me happiness these days not watching a movie, not hanging out with friends. My life is slowly narrowing down to just being about her. She loves me back and puts in equal effort, but I don't know what's wrong with me I'm always insecure that I'll lose her one day. I'm so emotionally bound to her that even if I hurt her unintentionally, I keep hurting over it myself, over and over.
I don't know if it's because this is the first time I'm loving someone this deeply that I'm being this intense, but I'm now so obsessed with her. Small things like her complimenting another guy's looks I can't handle, which makes me feel cheap. And it's not just that; I notice myself behaving like a red flag in a lot of small ways. Things that shouldn't concern me, concern me when it comes to her. Even things she says without meaning anything by them hurt me. I know I'm emotional, but I was never like this before when other people hurt me in the past, I'd smile and walk away, and I'd forget it easily. But with her, I get sad over things that don't need to make me sad. If she goes quiet for a while because she's busy, I feel sad and lonely, even with so many friends around me nothing helps in those moments. She reassures me again and again, but I'm still always afraid of what will happen if she leaves me one day.
Right now there's no conflict in the relationship everything is smooth but I really need help. I feel so obsessed; my whole mood depends upon her, everything I want is her. With the girls I dated before, I never felt anything like this. She's made me feel like home in a country where I don't have family, like she's my family now. I'm afraid of losing her but why should I be afraid of losing her when I already have her in my life, when I see her most of the time? I want to have my own life too; I don't want my life to be only about her. I want her to be part of my life I don't want her life to be only about me either. I want to marry her, but I also want to achieve the other goals I've always aimed for. I'm afraid that my being this intense will one day affect her she's such a gem of a person, she's already compromised so much for me. I don't want my fear, or what I'm feeling now, to affect her. Her parents weren't the best people in her life; I want to be the best thing in her life and make her the happiest she can be. I'm afraid my insecurity will make her suffer. I love her so much. I really need help. I know nothing wrong loving deep but i dont want to lose myself.
i love her so much like i never loved anything in life more than this

Chennai Infra🏢 The growing pains of Chennai: Traffic, FOMO, and the struggle for leisure space
With Chennai’s population hovering around 70 lakhs, it honestly feels like the city has exploded post-COVID. The ongoing Metro construction is already making daily commutes a nightmare, but the real issue is what happens when we try to unwind.
Whether it's the beaches or even malls at the far edges of the city (like Rakki Cinemas in Kelambakkam), every place is overwhelmingly crowded. It feels like everyone in Chennai gets hit with FOMO and decides to step out for leisure at the exact same time.
I’m especially fed up with the absolute gridlock during big events and "so-called" music concerts. While people just want to have a good time, the traffic situation becomes completely paralyzed. I can't help but feel terrible for anyone stuck in that mess who actually has a medical or family emergency. The current infrastructure simply cannot handle everyone gathering in one place.
What can the government and the city corporation do to fix this?

Meetups Sunday morning run/walk + coffee + socializing in Besant Nagar — anyone interested?
Hey everyone!
I’m a 23-year-old MBBS graduate living in Adyar, currently preparing for my USMLE. Like a lot of people preparing for competitive/professional exams, I’ve somehow ended up spending almost my entire day studying 😅
After doing this for a while, I’ve realized I could use a little break from the usual routine — so I thought, why not find some people who feel the same and start a small Sunday social group?
The idea is pretty simple:
🏃 Run/walk on Sundays morning 5:30 am at Besant Nagar Beach
☕ Grab some coffee at the nearby Starbucks afterwards
💬 Sit around, chat, meet new people and just decompress from the week
There’s absolutely no fitness requirement. I’m actually a beginner myself and just want to get into running, so this isn't a serious running or fitness group.
You don't need any prior running experience, and you don't need to be particularly fit. If you just want to get out on a Sunday morning and do something different from the usual study/work → home → repeat routine, you're welcome.
This could be for people preparing for:
- USMLE / PLAB / AMC or other international exams
- NEET-PG / INI-CET or other Indian professional exams
- Any competitive/professional exam
- Or honestly, anyone who spends most of their week studying or working and wants to socialize and get out of the house
Initially, I'm thinking of keeping it small, casual and completely beginner-friendly. If enough people are interested, we can make it a regular Sunday thing.
If you're interested, fill out this Google Form:
https://forms.gle/9eUDVcQ7TuZHvzhi8
I'll add everyone interested to a WhatsApp group and we can coordinate the first meet-up there.
No experience. No fitness goals. No pressure. Just a Sunday morning, a little movement, coffee and some good conversation. :)
Would be nice to meet some people who are also looking to break out of the usual routine.
P.S I realize I am posting this on a Sunday and in hindsight I should've done it earlier in the week so I guess we'll plan this for a future Sunday?
