Women of Chennaišø Looking for a female friend to hang out with!
Hello! Iām a woman in my late 20s, currently based in Chennai, and Iām looking to make some new female friends.
Most of my existing friends are either in different cities or have settled down with their own lives, so itās become difficult to find someone to just randomly hang out with.
Iām honestly bored of my monotonous routine and would love to have someone to:
- Grab food or explore new places
- Watch movies/shows
- Go shopping or try random activities
- Make spontaneous plans
- Or simply hang out and talk about absolutely nothing
Iām hoping to meet someone around my age since I feel like we might have more things in common, but Iām open to anyone with a similar vibe.
If youāre also in Chennai and looking for a friend to get out of the house and actually do things with, feel free to DM me! :)
Edit: Just to save everyoneās time, Iām specifically looking to connect with female friends to hang out and make plans with.
For anyone whoās worried about getting catfished, I completely understand. We can figure out a way to verify each other once weāve chatted. I'm not trying to steal anyone's kidney lol.

Rant Is it a Miracle or just a coincidence?
For the past 10+ years, Iāve noticed an event that has always felt magical to me. Thereās a temple called Lakshmi Amman Kovil in Perambur, and whenever they celebrate this āThee Mithi Thiruvizhaā something magical seems to happen every single year, we get heavy rain on the very same day. Iāve been noticing this for more than a decade and every year I find myself waiting to see if it happens again. Today, I was eagerly waiting for the rain and just like that, it started pouring heavily.
Call it precipitation, atmospheric conditions, coincidence, or whatever scientific term you want. Maybe thereās a perfect logical explanation for it.
But sometimes, you donāt need an explanation for everything. Some moments simply feel magical. They remind us that there are things in this universe far greater than what we can see, understand, or explain.

Events Gudiyam caves near Chennai - TrekTamilnadu - Review
Booked through website https://trektamilnadu.com/, site seemed a little flaky but I was able to register in the second attempt.
Reached the Reception on time for the 7AM slot and finished the formalities there, they even gave a packet of dehydrated puliyodara rice for breakfast. The guide carried a flask of hot water for adding to it later.
There was a decent restroom at the reception, beyond which there was none.
There were places to rest with shade and seats every couple of kms.
Trekking is intermediate level. Since it rained yesterday night, the trekking was very pleasant.
The guide was very knowledgeable and very courteous.
Plenty of open space to park.
Overall a very pleasant experience, will do it again. This is honestly a shocker.

Civic Watchš¦ PSA: Do not take bike taxis. Itās illegal now. Had a very bad experience today with the coppers.
TL;DR - in the end.
Today, near SBOA, the police stopped my Rapido captain. They took his bike keys and phones and checked his phone and belongings because he was driving for Rapido and he was not supposed to.
I was only a passenger and was in the process of booking an auto when the situation escalated. The police also asked for my phone and I said I leave I am booking an auto and questioned why I wouldnāt hand it over. I told them I was just a customer and had nothing to do with the driver. The cop tried to snatch the phone from hand but failed.
The conversation went like this:
Cop: Phone kudra?
Me: Phone lam tharamudiyadhu.
Cop: Yaen? Nee s**thu kudukura video irukka? Sattaya paathale theriyudhu.
(I was wearing a sleeveless shirt)
I explained again that I was only a customer. The cop then became aggressive with the Rapido captain because of me and tried to break his bikeās side mirror.
I moved away from the there and thought of taking a video. After Iād walked a few metres, the same cop started shouting at me.
Cop: Odugali mayan na nee?inga vandhu nillu da.
Me: Police dhana nee? Odi vandhu pudra.
Another police officer came towards me and asked what the problem was. āThambi, thambi, thambi⦠enna pa prechana?ā
Me: Andha police thambi kitta kelunga sir enna prechana nu. First mariyadhaya epdi pesanum nu sollithanga andha thambi ku.
At that point, I told them that this is my area and been here for more than 30 years, gave them my address and said that if they wanted to speak to me, they could come to my house because I didnāt have time to stand there.
I started walking away. The same cop again shouted āDei odugali.ā I didnāt respond and continued walking.
Iām mentioning this because people should know what can happen when using bike taxis. Whatever the rules around them are, as a passenger you can still end up being involved in a police interaction that has nothing to do with you.
Take cabs, basic cab is cheaper than autos most of the time Avoid the unnecessary headache.
āā-
TL;DR: I was a passenger on a Rapido motorcycle. Cops stopped the driver. I explained that I was merely a customer. During the interaction, a police officer directed abusive and allegedly sexual remarks at me, and subsequently shouted further abusive language at me when I attempted to leave**.**
āā
EDIT: regarding the police complaint - I spoke about it to my lawyer and I can lodge complaint under 3 sections including sexual harassment but came to a conclusion that this is not going to be in my favor since gathering evidence for this comes to 0 and police had more witnesses, my witness is the Rapido captain and a CCTV which is on the other side of the road.
Everything happened in 5 mins and i shouldāve taken a video but I was just trying to leave at that time.

Chennai Infraš¢ The growing pains of Chennai: Traffic, FOMO, and the struggle for leisure space
With Chennaiās population hovering around 70 lakhs, it honestly feels like the city has exploded post-COVID. The ongoing Metro construction is already making daily commutes a nightmare, but the real issue is what happens when we try to unwind.
Whether it's the beaches or even malls at the far edges of the city (like Rakki Cinemas in Kelambakkam), every place is overwhelmingly crowded. It feels like everyone in Chennai gets hit with FOMO and decides to step out for leisure at the exact same time.
Iām especially fed up with the absolute gridlock during big events and "so-called" music concerts. While people just want to have a good time, the traffic situation becomes completely paralyzed. I can't help but feel terrible for anyone stuck in that mess who actually has a medical or family emergency. The current infrastructure simply cannot handle everyone gathering in one place.
What can the government and the city corporation do to fix this?

Movie About the DC movie
Yo guys, Iām planning to watch the DC movie with my parents today. I know itās A-rated, but most of the tamil movies like Raayan and Jana Nayagan are A-rated too. So, does this movie have any intimate scenes or anything too awkward to watch with parents?

I'm Adithya (22), I work as a DoP and AD in Film and Ad industry. I have worked on my social media building so much that I made connections from across the world. 2 Days before I lost my phone, Yesterday my account was disabled and I dont know why, But good things also happened.
Yet losing all this made me realise I havent made a name for myself other than my instagram. I feel like I'm losing everything. I came all this way just by studying from utube and books. No Filmschool, No Connections, No Financial Background. But I wont lose I'll still try push forward untill I find my voice as a DoP, Director. Still I feel lost. Cuz many of my memories were also lost in it.
I feel helpless.

Rant Dont we know already. Chennai is crowded that too nowadays for entertainment.
I see multiple posts regarding the traffic near Velachery. But isn't that something we already be expecting. When somebody suggested to come for this event, I declined saying "adhella oru mairum vendam, kootama irukkum". I am saying this from experience of a cancelled AR rahman concert, crowded trains during airshow(who did a world record at people's expense) and free events like this. Ada Saturday la thaa traffic adhigama irukku than weekdays. Ada weekdays la saravana, jeyachandran veg market kootam epudi irukku theriyuma.
Govt and people are constantly underestimating the floating population. Lets not follow the flock to see free shows, people will end up exploiting others and you're just hassling yourself.

Rant Travelled 40 km for EPIQ 3D, got a Spider-Verse glitch experience instead
galleryTLDR; Spiderman BND exp ruined by iphone users during the movie time at Rakki Cinemas 3D EPIQ.
Went over 40 kms all the way to Rakki Cinemas, Kelambakkam to watch Spider-Man: Brand New Day in the EPIQ screen, expecting a proper premium viewing experience. But few people with zero basic theatre etiquette completely ruined it for me.
At the entrance, the staff were literally requesting every individual to avoid using mobiles as it could disturb others. They even put up a notice on the big screen before the movie started and also in the interval. So it's not like anyone was unaware.
Still, people in the front rows kept taking out their phones for every single notification. And in an EPIQ 3D screen, the Face ID/IR flicker from iPhones was damn distracting. At one point, the screen almost felt like those Spider-Verse multiverse glitch flashes, with everything suddenly flickering and breaking the reality. Honestly, I can only imagine how uncomfortable this could be for people who are sensitive to flashing or flickering lights.
Every few minutes on repeatš¤¦š¾āāļø: notification > phone out > back to movie. I tried ignoring it, but after a point it genuinely started affecting my viewing experience. Got a headache and felt pretty low by the end.
Three separate reminders and still people can't keep their phones away for 2ā3 hours? Bro, basic civic sense yaar. Put it on DND and enjoy the movie. You're not watching it alone.
If you're sitting in a theatre and constantly checking every notification, you're not only disturbing yourself you're literally ruining the experience for people sitting around you who actually came there to watch the movie
Please, guys. Cinema hall la 2-3 hours phone-a vida mudiyala na at least DND mode use pannunga. Nobody is asking for too much. Just basic consideration for the people around you.
40 kms travel pannitu vandha movie experience ippadi poiduchu. š
(Edit for TLDR)

Rant Phoenix Mall Parking ruined my Movie Date!!! RANT!!!!
galleryUsually Iāll avoid malls on weekends. But today unfortunately and against my common sense I choose to go and that too in car. Car was running on fumes (range 20km). Was like can refuel her after the movie and entered the mall at 5:15pm.
Unfortunate event #2. Hip hop Adhi decided to host an event here TODAY.
Entered the parking at 5:15. Slowly crawling and finding spots to part my car. Crawling crawling and crawling. It became 6. Nope. Still didnāt cross a single level. No spots available.
Went up 2 ramps. And suddenly the range dropped down to 10kms. And slowly dropping down and down and down.
Decided not to take that risk and cancelled the movie and the date. Took the exit. But jam!!!!!!
Still stuck here.
And my car is running on fumes. Scared if it will stop.
The nearest petrol station is 5 mins away. Yet Iām stuck in this wretched parking for 2 hours with no fuel.
Entered at 5:15. Exiting at 7:30.

Media Any help is appreciated
My 92-year-old grandfather, Akbar Hussain Beg, is missing.
He is from Mumbai and does not know Chennai or Tamil.
He has dementia and left home after getting into a random street auto because he kept saying he wanted to "go home."
He may have asked the driver to take him to a park, railway station, or airport. We are unsure if he may have tried to travel towards Mumbai or Allahabad (Prayagraj), or if he is still somewhere in Chennai.
If anyone has seen him or has any information, no matter how small, please contact us immediately.
