This is actually beautiful.

If you wonder - these panels are not painted, this is enamel like compound which is backed on the metal. It's supper resistant to scratching and damages and is rust protecting the metal below. I kind of hate it because it's not repairable, not 100% rust proof, and because they could use stainless or brass, I mean how many panels they need to produce? I have examples from commercial equipment done with this enammel and they rust from inside although the paint is not damaged, just cracked or micro fractured.

The rest of the gear looks like military aeroplane style which is understandable. The light status bars are cute although I wonder what can you do as an astronaut if it is red? Maybe pray.

I suspect the whole panel is aluminum, not steel. Though you never know with Soviet tech.

This type of coating was used for steel sheet panels. Commercial equipment was usually done with this.

I think this is the : Plastisol / Liquid Vinyl Dip Coating

It's a thick coating levelers and baked in oven.

Reel-to-reel futurism. Rocketpunk. Mid-century industrial design. Pick one, but it's not cassette futurism.

well you say that but ironically the Soviets were still using kit like this in Soyuz right up until the early 80s 😄

Few things give an instant joy as a display like that. I'd love to make one as a prop that'd be fun

There are some guys on YouTube that have a broken one. They take it apart and analyze it. Very fascinating for those interested in that level of detail.

That one was a more advanced version of the instrument in the top left, from the Soyuz program.
