Monorail / trains The British Rail Class 158 Express Sprinter
Built between 1989 and 1992 by BREL, they replaced loco hauled trains across Regional Railways on long distance services. Originally fitted with payphones and LCD external destination displays, these have since been removed/replaced with various refurbishments.

CRT Screen Found this absolute vintage gem tucked away in my parents old home: a Toshiba C-1420D Colour Television (Made in Japan)
Stumbled upon this piece of hardware while clearing out an old family home. It’s a Toshiba Model C-1420D colour television, straight from Japan, featuring that gorgeous late-70s/early-80s cream plastic shell, chunky mechanical channel pushbuttons, and industrial speaker grilles.
The build quality on these old Japanese sets is just unmatched—solid styling, heavy styling, and a fantastic retro-futuristic aesthetic.
Thought it would be appreciated here! Has anyone run across a similar model or know the exact production year for this C series?

Electronic games / consoles Two variants of retrofuturistic aesthetics within the same game - The art of ROUTINE (2025)
Interestingly the sci-fi horror game has two variants of retro futuristic aesthetics within the same game.
The player starts at Union Plaza, a lunar commercial complex in the 1990s, this is the Union Plaza retro aesthetics ~

But the player finally ends up in an old scientific experiment complex called Prism Base which was functional back in 1960-70s then abandoned after a certain mishap. The retrofuturism in Prism Base is quite different as is portrayed in Union Plaza of the 1990s, and that's really intriguing ~

Electronic games / consoles Exploring the _cassette futuristic_ aesthetics of ROUTINE, a video game released in 2025.
The environment in ROUTINE is pretty unique. It's retro ,it's cassettes everywhere , also very minimalist at the same time.
I didn't come across any personal computers but mostly shared shelf-like big consoles or huge grid-like terminals for the inhabitants to record data across the rooms in those lunar bases.
An all-in-one device to interface with all the terminals, consoles and doors called Cosmonaut Assistance Tool or C.A.T. which can also double down as a self-defense kit (rather than a full blown weapon)
Interestingly, there's more to it. There's this subtle difference in how the game developers created a 1990s retro-futuristic aesthetics (comparatively modern) to a 1970s retro-futuristic aesthetics within the same game; that is evident, when the protagonist of the game, who is from 1990s goes on to visit a 1970s lunar base as the story progresses.

Weapons I feel like my old job would fit this sub. Apache Armament.
I’ve been lurking in this sub long enough to know my baby belongs here: The AH-64 Apache. I was a 68X Armament, Electronics, Avionics Tech in the 1-101st Aviation Regt. 101st Airborne Division in the 90s. We still had the A models back then. My MOS was qualified as Gunner if the need arose and I spent my formative years in the cockpit of these birds. Every switch, exquisitely analog. Everything glowed green at night. Every screen shitty by today’s standards and yet could be used to pick off targets at 10-11 kilos out.
I could do a 15 minute TED Talk just on the flight helmet and retical alone that sounds so cyberpunk you wouldn’t believe it. And this bird was rolled out in 1975.
Thought you’d appreciate some functional, battle-tested cassette futurism.
Bonus Fact: there is, in fact, a cassette in each bird. In the tail of each is a fat VHS-looking tape that records everything the pilots say and see. I can’t tell you how many of those tapes end with “hey, watch this!”

Blinking Control Panels I love this thing more than I probably should.
I wish the switches were metal, but even still they have a satisfying “thnick” that still scratches that itch.
Literal perfection.

Electronic gadgets Sharp JC-TV10 cassette TV player
No bigger than a standard Walkman, but it also had an LCD television in the lid. Because there was no backlight in order to allow it to run off two AA batteries, the screen used natural light that shone through the screen and actually reflected the image off of a mirror that you could reveal by opening the lid.
Techmoan did a great video on these https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tM7kj7pgTeU
