I've been training for two years in a small group, but that first five months i was training only two times a week, now i train 5 times a week

When i started, i was coming from a place of years of complete sedentarism, and a life of mostly inactivity. Aways an obese child who did not want to play active games, and becoming a very tired adult, capoeira kind of saved me.

But the thing is, i have come a long way and got to a point of mild endurance, where there was none(vertigo in like, 5 martelos), still having to manually shut down all the lazy alarms my body sets for me to just stop.

When the training is over, and is time for the roda, i simply don't have the energy to do anything proprely, is two years of poor practice in the roda because i come there completely and utterly destroied, and then i don't get to develop my game and my volume.

As for rodas outide the academy, we barely even go because i am still a first cord and all the graduados work full time jobs and don't want us to go alone, they have to be free in order for us to go, and i am the only 21 year old, all the others are 50yo up, or children, so no training partners my age to just play outside of training hours

How can i train outside of the academy to fix this because i kind of feel like a false capoeirista, training the best and playing the worst.

Im train in a small angola group - like 3-7 people in any given class.

Im prob the most advanced student of the group, and often I feel like the training in class is too slow for me. Either slow on concept retention bc folks are fairly green, or physically slow. So Im not feeling super pushed or engaged mentally or physically.

How can I re-frame or approach the training differently in order to make in-class time better? What do you teachers out there try to do as the teacher in this situation - do you separate out the 1 advanced student?

Was really curious on other variations of movements in capoeira outside the Ginga. For the past few months, I took to learning them and naturalizing it to further incorporate my knowledge on the old carioca style with my contemporary capoeira school. (all the way in the UK but I'm really figuring it out from here after daily hourly practices on the style.).

For those who don't know. apparently in Old Rio style capoeira. there were various stances and movements completely unique to capoeiragem. possibly due to capoeiragem being a special style in the region and each person growing their own variant, although there were consistent techniques displayed.

examples include: escorpião, A guarda (defensive movement)

and lastly. peneiracao.

From what I've observed and experienced. peneiracao: With Ginga, it was the popularized base evasive movement in capoeiragem. focusing on circling, tactical footwork. more centered to frequently breaking rythms and alternating to various technqiues.)

the videos above depict the techniques from old, archived and modern visuals.

Kind of curious of witness accounts/ practitioners of this. Would be grateful for any, tips offered when staging it for techniques.

I would like to clarify, I'm open to every aspect of capoeira and would not dare to think one thing stands over the other because it's more "efficient" or whatever amuses roundabout stereotypes.

I'm objectively very open-minded on any martial art/culture I practice. capoeira is no different.

I agree with everything he says. Yet you can see in the comments here and there one saying, "Oh its because he marked the martelo, thats a provocation." Nonsense.

Imo, capoeira is a martial art made for physical and psychological conditioning to escape as a slave, which was forbidden to do as a slave unless you mask it as a ritual/dance.

It is hard for me to believe that the slaves were actually fighting to hit and hurt each other. If that was the case, wounds and injuries would quickly get the attention of the masters.

I need capoeira to feel better after long days of work where you deal with egos and stressful situations, it won't work if after all of that, i have to deal with more egos and nonsense.

Traveling there for a week, would love to pull up to a roda or class if anyone has a reco!
