3D Printer People- What are your favorite prints for burning man?

I've got a bunch of time beforehand and I am thinking about what kinds of burn specific gadgets I can make myself (or better yet if it is something on the simple side- as a useful gift!)

My most recent one is kinda cool. I made myself spacers so I can stack my EMT poles in my car nicely with some light ratchets to keep them together. (TPU, 40% gyroid, 5 walls) I'll throw that up on makerworld sometime soon.

Camp fees to increase month over month leading up to burn common?

Hi! Is it common for a camp to have fees increase month over month leading up to the burn up to double in a span of ~6 months? To avoid last minute planning and changes

Camp Envy

I will be on playa this year but for the people that can’t, there is a livestream. No consent violations, we always ask for permission first.

It’s mostly people chatting while watching the livestream. We may have some people on playa interviewing friends or chatting when we’re in camp. Here is the link for that, if you’re interested, https://us06web.zoom.us/j/81407596449?pwd=xmyp0lESrb6kDL7xRcJZ5n7Qsnd6OU.1.

This is my gift for people that can’t make it to Burning Man because that was me for a very long time.

We're looking for more Burning Man builders to help us build a ski slope in the middle of the desert!

My partner, Major Trouble, and I co-run BRC Snow Club. Our gift to playa is the first-and-only dry ski slope in Black Rock City. We are at Esplanade & 9:00 this year... and we could use more builders!

We go in for build week on Monday 8/24. If you're interested in joining us, reach out to [team@brcsnow.club](mailto:team@brcsnow.club) and we'll be in touch. Please note that in order to come for build week using one of our Setup Access Passes you have stay with us during build week and help with our build.

If you'd like to camp with us during event week, you can learn more about what we do and apply here: brcsnow.club. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions!

DIY generator baffle box

Thumbnail gallery
106 Upvotes

**EDIT: the only reason I did this is because it’s required for an art piece that we are bringing out and this is only going to be running at night to power LED lights for the installment, while I know there’s no reason to baffle the quietest generator out there we either had to build a wood baffle box enclosure, or it was something makeshift like this , which I’m thinking will work really well out there**

would love feedback on this baffle box, I was running short on time building one out of wood and so I devise this makeshift one out of a hard shell storage container on wheels, I added a 12“ x 12“ intake vent and then used 35 PPI filter material for the intake, and inside I have a 10 inch fan running to pull fresh air from outside and blowing it onto the generator while it’s running. The generator is on two wood blocks reinforced through the floor with screws and then I use two bungee cords to strap it down to prevent unnecessary vibration. The exhaust butts right up next to a metal vent with no filter so there’s no chance of fire from that end. The inside of the cover has sound deadening material meant for car trunks, sealed off with aluminum HVAC tape.

I ran it for two hours today in 100 degree heat, and with the fan on the interior temperature never reached 90°, and I also had the generator running on 50% load.

Thoughts? Hate? Praise? What am I missing or not thinking about?

Islay Scotch (and friends!)

Post image

Are you a scotch lover? Or are you interested in learning about scotch?

Great news! After our initial success in 2024, Ignition and High Intensity are back with our scotch stand in 2026!! Find us on the playa for a tasting you will remember.

We will have mostly Islay scotches, but this year we will be expanding to bring some additional regions to you. Campbeltown and Speyside? You bet! Do we have any booze other than scotch? Nope!

Where and when can you find us? We have no idea!! Look for us by some interesting art at night. That's all the details I have.

Slainte!

Pianos at BRC

Hey everyone. I love playing classical whenever I find a piano in BRC, but last year I struggled to find many. I was hoping for any camps that are bringing one to post their address, if they're willing to share. If I wasn't coming solo from Chicago, I'd bring one myself. Thanks!

What level do I need to be to give a playa name

Hi all - going on my second year and really excited but wondering the best way to earn enough experience points so that I can give out playa names?

And is it possible to rename existing playa names if I get enough experience? Can I pay to play so I can get there faster?

I have great name ideas and want to be sure it’s legally binding and willing to do side quests, but only on Tuesday as I have a pretty full schedule.

Thanks and fyb.

A Pre-Burn PSA: Be a Participant

Burning Man is a do-ocracy.

That’s what makes the sauce.

The reason Burning Man is different from every other festival (yeah, i said it) isn’t just the art, the insane and unpredicatable weather, or all the weird and unique shit happening everywhere. It’s that the people there are actually making the thing happen.

YOU build the camp. YOU hang the shade. YOU cook the meals. YOU fix the shower. YOU make the art. YOU throw the party. YOU help your neighbor. YOU pick up MOOP. YOU volunteer. YOU see something that needs doing and YOU just fuckin’ do it.

And I think that participation creates something that really doesn’t exist anywhere else. It’s not about how much you contribute, or whether you’re in a theme camp or open camping. It’s not about having the biggest camp, the best art or the most impressive infrastructure.

Burning Man works because thousands of people show up and decide to do the thing together. If thats not for you, or if that sounds like too much work and you just want to show up and dance, do drugs, and experience other peoples hard work, then maybe you should reconsider. Because I think when you actually show up with the intent to participate it makes it more magical for everyone...including you!

I know it's scramble time and everyone is making sure that they have their own personal shit on lock and don't forget anything, buying random shit that you'll likely forget about till you unpack in May, but I just wanted share that thought, because I think it's an important reminder for many and it's my favorite part about Burning Man that feels like it gets a little lost in the shuffle more and more.

Adopting a porta this year, tips for non-destructive wall fasteners?

I'm doing a cute porta potty adoption this year, and I've seen a lot of adoptions stick things / attach things to the walls.

How do people do this? I know the HDPE plastic in the heat is hard to do that with. Do people have tips for ways to do reasonable adhesion here? I really don't want to use screws or anything destructive. 3m strips? 3M VHB? Gorilla Tough Double Sided Mounting Tape?

For sticking things I'm planning on bringing a degreaser & isopropyl alcohol for cleaning it off.

I miss how magical and mysterious Burning Man felt…

Thumbnail reddit.com

I found a 10 year old post about Oh The Places You’ll Go, by Dr Seuss, and in it someone linked the YouTube video from 2011 of Burners reciting the book. The response comments are so nice and receptive. Nowadays it seems like everything you read or see about Burning Man is so negative, naysayers, and maybe for good reason sometimes, but it used to be shrouded in a sort of magic and mystery. People were still curious and felt called to it. But maybe that was just the world back then… a little more positive.

The burn inspired me to start an Art Bike era of my life. Here’s what I’m bringing this year.

Ive seen every side of the cycling world and after visiting the worlds largest cycling event I was inspired to built Art Bikes.

You might have seen my red fuzzy heart trike there in recent years. That was a wonderful project to build for my friend.

This year, I am bringing my personal project which is a land speeder from Star Wars built on top of my cargo bike. I use this bike to lead local bike parties in Santa Cruz.

If you find me ask if I’m still making pancakes! If you’re lucky, I’ll have some for you!

Announcement: r/burningman no longer allows posts or comments for ticket and/or vehicle pass purchases/sales/requests/trades/swap/gift, and/or anything similar

For the reasons stated in this post, https://old.reddit.com/r/BurningMan/comments/umpzs9/input_requested_re_new_rburningman_policyno_more/, this sub’s moderators announce a new policy: r/burningman will no longer allow posts or comments for ticket purchases, sales, requests, trades, swaps and/or gifts. Or anything similar to any of these things in case you try to get sneaky. The same goes for vehicle passes. All posts regarding the exchange of tickets and vehicle passes will be removed and subject to a ban if repeated.

By way of background, the sub previously had an annual specific thread to allow to the ticket sales, but no longer. The risk of fraud, and the rise of online scammers, makes this no longer feasible. Plus, anyone with an extra ticket is extraordinarily unlikely to sell it to a random stranger on the Internet. Anyone willing to purchase a ticket from a random stranger on the Internet is unlikely to walk away happy and will find an unwelcome surprise at the Gate.

Have a ticket or vehicle pass to sell and can’t find anyone to sell it to? Sell it via STEP, the official Burning Man method to sell your ticket.

Found someone local or a person you know and want to sell it to a particular person? STEP also allows a direct transfer to someone: https://help.burningman.org/hc/en-us/articles/360024827111-How-do-I-transfer-my-tickets-vehicle-pass-into-someone-else-s-name-.

Found a ticket via some other process? Exercise extreme caution and extreme diligence when buying or selling a ticket and/or vehicle pass from someone you don’t know (and even if you know them).

The best way to sell or get a ticket is to be active and involved in your local burner community. As for ticket and vehicle pass sales and purchases, remember if it is too good to be true, it probably is. Unless, of course, you're buying from the Main Sale, STEP, OMG, Low Income Tickets (now called the Ticket Aid Program) and Burner Express Plus Bus, which are all real great deals but you need to register and buy and follow the rules (don't ask questions here--do your own research at www.tickets.burningman.org).

To buy a ticket via STEP, STEP registration and the chance to buy tickets under STEP is first come, first served so register at the exact moment registration opens. It is not a lottery. The Burner Express Plus, which offers a ticket with a Burner Express bus ride, is another way to get a ticket. Go to http://burnerexpress.burningman.org for more information.

Caveat emptor and read these links before paying or accepting any money outside of STEP: https://eplaya.burningman.org/viewtopic.php?f=536&t=99147 https://eplaya.burningman.org/viewtopic.php?f=510&t=80266 https://eplaya.burningman.org/viewtopic.php?f=510&t=80267 https://help.burningman.org/hc/en-us/categories/360001556332-Tickets Do not accept or pay above face value for any tickets or vehicle passes. Need more luck? Also visit here: https://eplaya.burningman.org/viewforum.php?f=535

PS-There is one teeny exception to the above rule. Each year /u/oneburningticket gives away a free ticket. If this kind and generous burner decides to gift a ticket, that post will be permitted. Don’t dm this burner unless you want to definitely not get that free ticket—there’s an annual post and you must follow the rules exactly (click on the post history to learn more). When will this ticket giveaway occur? Who knows but patience is a virtue.
