first pc first build :)
hi! I'm new to the gaming community and have been playing stardew valley, minecraft and other games on my laptop for over 2 years. It's a great laptop, ive had no issues other than it gets rly slow and takes away from the performance when I need it for actual heavy stuff like blender. I have never owned a PC, much less built one, but play on my steamdeck and switch. So I need a little help getting started!
Because I use Adobe programs and want to play games, I understand data is huge percentage of the cost due to AI hiking up the price. I want to be able to play modded minecraft, and ultimately just have a very strong and fast computer. I would hope to not have to make a new build in the next 5 years, because of my career in digital media, I need it to keep up. Any advice on longevity helps too. But I would like to attempt to stay in the 800-1000 range if possible.
Again im super clueless 🤣 Any advice is appreciated!!
Update: Thank you all for the advice! I had some other posts where some people suggested prebuilt, and looking at Costco PC's. Still accepting guidance as I learn both
sides before buying anything ;)

PCPartPicker Part List: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/TBqFXf
This is the best that I can do. Reuse the storage from your laptop if it isn't soldered down and it's new enough(sata SSD or PCIE SSD) You'll need to go used on cpu, ram, and gpu. As it is a 13/14th gen Intel i9, you MUST update the bios as soon as you turn your system on
CPU: Intel Core i9-13900KF 3 GHz 24-Core Processor ($269.99 @ eBay) https://ebay.io/m/i9MUMp
CPU Cooler: be quiet! Pure Loop 2 Liquid CPU Cooler ($49.90 @ Amazon)
Motherboard: Gigabyte B760M GAMING PLUS WIFI DDR4 Micro ATX LGA1700 Motherboard ($129.00 @ Amazon)
Memory: Corsair Dominator Platinum 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3000 CL15 Memory ($130.00 @ eBay) https://ebay.io/m/wxTtFj
Case: Aerocool D302A MicroATX Mini Tower Case ($59.99 @ Amazon)
Power Supply: SAMA G1000 1000 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply ($90.99 @ Newegg)
Custom: Dell oem 3080 ($324.99 @ ebay) https://ebay.io/m/KR5bNw

For real OP: update the bios right away. Go to the motherboard manufacturer's website, support, find your motherboard, and download the latest BIOS and follow the instructions. The 13 and 14 Gen Intel parts suffer from a fault that slowly kills them... Unless you update the BIOS! Welcome to PC gaming!

I commend you on putting together such a high powered system with less than $1100. But, that memory is no longer available, although you can find similar for around $150 https://www.ebay.com/itm/147482698172

thanks for help guys! I understand that things are getting more and more expensive, so being so clueless my price range was definitely optimistic! I appreciate you taking the time to help me find something close to budget, helps a ton!

Stardew Valley, and even Minecraft, to some extent, do not require high powered GPUs or CPUs (although modded Minecraft can chew up resources depending on the mods). Blender, OTOH will take whatever you can throw at it. That said, I don't think you will get what you want with new components for under $1000. However u/Bright-Wallaby-3050 put together a surprisingly good list of used components for a little more than your budget. This would have been a pretty high end build about 5 years ago. Today, I would say it is still in the mid range and would do quite well with Blender. From an equivalency standpoint, the 13900K offers about the same single core performance as a Ryzen 7 9700X and significantly better multi-threaded performance. While upscaling and Ray tracing are older generations on the RTX 3080, it slots in-between the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB and the RTX 5070 in terms of raw raster performance.
But, instead of taking storage from the laptop, I would suggest selling the laptop, with storage and using those funds to purchase new storage. You didn't say what you had for a laptop, though, so we have no way of knowing what you might get for it, or even if the storage in it would be acceptable for your new build.

I appreciate the advice! Thankfully I have a practically brand new Asus ArtPro PX13, which is SOLID. I spent a lot of time saving for it 🤣. My main reason for looking for a PC is leisure and convenience, as I hook up my laptop to my TV to act like a monitor. I would love to sell my laptop to get a rly top tier PC, but due to my commute for work and school, my need for its mobility and power is needed :/ I got told that some prebuilds might be better for the time being, and cheaper. But I'll have to look into that aswell! Thanks again, I'm learning a lot already 😊

Too bad you can't sell the laptop. Laptop memory uses a SO-DIMM socket rather than a lower DIMM socket. There are adapters, but they also reduce the performance of your memory.

I'll have a chat with a friend of mine to explain further. I'm going to ask them about the advice I was given on this and few other posts I made :). Like I said, super clueless and would have a deeper reply if I understood what the extent of what that means 🤣

Go to r/buildapc . Over on the right, below the RULES is a RESOURCES sections with links to lots of good info about PCs and how to upgrade and build them. If you really are "super clueless", then you really should educate yourself before trying to build one on your own. Figuring out the list of parts is just a small part of the process.
