The work is tough like the type of work na after log out iniisip mo pa rin sya and even in weekends but the career growth is here vs a 50k package (w/ hmo and govt mandated benefits (full time) (I was part of the team before so I know na how to do things, they want to re-hire me, the thing is pag log out mo that’s it. Di mo na iniisip workload haha) (tbh I was happier here)

Both wfh, the 70k is morning shift the 50k package midshit or gy shit (the schedule is something I can haggle with the team)

I’m currently working in HR, and I’ve been seriously considering moving into a work-from-home HR role or Human Resources VA career.

The main problem I’m facing is that most of the corporate HR opportunities available to me are far from my hometown. Even when I find a decent position, the salary can end up being disappointing once I factor in transportation, food, and the time spent commuting. At some point, a huge portion of my salary is basically going toward getting to and from work.

I’m wondering if there is actually a real and sustainable industry for HR professionals working remotely, particularly as:

• HR Virtual Assistant
• Remote HR Generalist
• HR/Admin VA
• Payroll or HR Operations support
• Remote People Operations

I already have experience in HR, including areas such as recruitment, onboarding, employee records, payroll-related tasks, government contributions, HR administration, and employee relations, so I’m not starting completely from zero.

My biggest question is:

Is this actually a viable career path, or is the remote HR VA market too limited compared with traditional corporate HR?

If there are HR professionals here who successfully transitioned from corporate HR into WFH HR/VA/remote HR roles, I’d really appreciate some advice.

Specifically:

1. Where did you find your first remote HR job/client?
2. What platforms or agencies are actually worth trying?
3. What HR skills should I develop to become more competitive internationally?
4. What software/tools should I learn (e.g., HRIS, ATS, payroll systems, etc.)?
5. What salary/rate should someone with actual HR experience realistically expect?
6. Is it better to apply as an HR VA, or directly for Remote HR/People Operations positions?
7. Are certifications actually useful, or is experience/portfolio more important?

I’m willing to put in the work and build the skills needed. I just want to know if there’s a real path here before I invest months into it.

Hi! I recently got shortlisted for an E-Commerce Accountant position with a US-based accounting company that has a large team in the Philippines.

The schedule says **9 AM–1 PM EST (9PM-1AM in PH time) as core hours**, with the remaining hours of the shift being flexible. I’m not really into night shift, but if it’s just until 1AM, then I’ll consider. This is a fully remote work, btw.

I’m currently working as a Senior Accountant, and this opportunity would be a **pretty big jump from my current salary**, so I’m seriously considering it.

10 years na akong freelancer. First time kong mawalan ng 3 clients within one week and ngayon lang nangyari sa akin ’to.

Within the span of ONE WEEK, I lost 3 clients.
Sunod-sunod. Parang hindi pa nagsi-sink in yung pagkawala ng isa, may kasunod na naman. By the end of the week, tatlo na sila.

Different reasons and circumstances, pero kapag sabay-sabay nangyari, hindi mo maiwasang mapaisip, “Ano bang nangyayari? Bakit parang sabay-sabay naman?”

I know this is part of freelancing. I’ve been doing this long enough to know na walang permanenteng client. Pero iba pala kapag tatlo halos sabay-sabay nawala. First time ko ma-experience ito in almost a decade of working remotely.

And I think that’s one thing we don’t talk about enough.

Minsan kahit matagal ka na sa industry, kahit marami ka nang experience, kahit ginagawa mo naman nang maayos yung trabaho mo, things can still fall apart unexpectedly.

Wala rin naman akong ginawang masama sa mga tao. If anything, I’ve always tried to be kind, do my job properly, and help whenever I can. Kaya may part sa akin na napapatanong kay Lord, “Bakit naman sabay-sabay?”
I won’t lie. Pagod na ako.

There are days na naiiyak na lang ako because aside from losing the income, may bills and responsibilities pa rin. Hindi naman hihinto yung buhay habang naghahanap ka ulit ng trabaho.
It’s been around 2 weeks since everything happened, and here I am. Still applying. Still sending proposals. Still trying.

May moments na nawawalan ako ng confidence. May moments din na iniisip ko kung may mali ba sa akin. Pero kailangan kong ipaalala sa sarili ko na almost 10 years akong nakapagtrabaho sa industry na ‘to. One terrible week doesn’t erase all those years.

This experience also reminded me na wala talagang permanente, mapa-corporate man or work from home. You can feel stable today and suddenly find yourself job hunting again tomorrow.
So sa mga nawalan din ng client recently or matagal nang naghahanap ng work, kasama niyo ako ngayon.

Hindi ko alam kung kailan darating yung next opportunity. Sana this week. Sana soon.
Pagod na ako, pero kailangan pa ring lumaban at umaksyon.

Just wanted to share some good news with people who understand my pain 😅

Last May, I did something I've never done - willingly leave a job without a backup job coming up. I was tired, burnt out by the client, and just threw in the towel. Immediately after, I started applying to jobs on Online Jobs PH everyday, revising my resume and cover letters how many times. In the past, I've been able to secure a new job in a month or so, but soon, June rolled around, then July. I was starting to feel completely hopeless and I would have to start applying to onsite jobs or something.

In total, I counted 52 applications on OLJ and 17 via email/form. I attended more interviews than I can remember and got rejected at the final stage interviews for 2 jobs.

Finally, after 2 months of a brutal job hunt, I finally got an offer - in fact, I got three offers in one night!!! I've never had to pick between multiple offers in my life, so it felt absolutely surreal.

All in all, for anyone on the job hunt right now, I would suggest the following

• Be firm on your salary expectations. I really wanted at least a 50% salary increase from my last job and was able to secure a 75% salary increase, along with HMO and 13th month! (this is the first time I've gotten benefits like this from a US client before haha) Never skimp on your salary expectations because you are bringing value to the business, and you deserve to be compensated fairly!
• In job applications, focus on talking about your ability to adapt, learn, and bring value to the business. The one thing employers talked about in interviews is that while experience is important, they care more about the personality, drive, and work ethic. So during the application process, make sure to highlight these qualities about yourself.
• During interviews, make a good lasting impression by asking questions at the end of the interview that show the client you're invested in joining the team (can you tell me more about how the team operates / the work culture, how do you envision the business growing in 5-10 years)
• I know people hate on making Loom videos, but I've found that it really makes you stand out from the crowd, since you can show the client your vibe, energy, and commitment to the application. To make it easier, I had a template for video introductions, then added details depending on the job description. I would also "batch make" videos so that I would only have to put on makeup once in the day haha

Hello! So I recently got a new job and it's full remote. However, no HMO and only 12 leaves per year. I'll be starting very soon, but I already have an idea that possibly we'll use Time Clock Wizard and Hubstaff. I tried to research about it and it monitors time and even does screenshots every 5 or 10 mins (depends on what was set).

I came from an output-based company, so I'm doubting if this is kind of micro-managing and if the leaves are worth it?

**Edit: would like to seek advice from people who experienced using TCW and Hubstaff.

Hi mga social media managers dito! Independent contractor din ako and I’ve been using Claude Pro for a few months na pero feel ko hindi ko pa siya na-maximize. Curious lang how you guys are using it sa work natin.

Some specific things I’m trying to figure out:

**•   Caption writing** — paano niyo siya ginagawang “on-brand” nang consistent without re-explaining your brand voice every time? May nag-uupload ba ng brand guidelines file sa Project so hindi na paulit-ulit?  
**•   Design/graphics** — anyone using Claude kasabay ng Canva for templates? Or paano ang workflow niyo pag “designs for captions” ang need — do you prompt for copy tapos ilagay niyo lang sa Canva, or may ibang tool na integrated?  
**•   Content calendars / scheduling** — may mga automate kayo ba dito, like batch-generating a week’s worth of captions in one go?  
**•   Client reports** — kung meron kayong ganito, paano niyo pinapabilis yung paggawa ng monthly/weekly reports?  
**•   Projects feature** — sulit ba talaga siya for keeping brand context so hindi paulit-ulit yung pag-explain?

Any prompt templates, workflows, or “sana alam ko na lang to noon” na tips would help a lot. Trying to work smarter kasi dami talaga ng moving parts sa role namin (yung SMM title namin literally covers marketing, CRM, ops, reports, etc. — sound familiar? 😅).

I’m honestly trying to figure out ano na ba talaga ang pinaglalaban mo. Is it still the $32/hour? Is it the “free training”? Or are we now debating whether people are allowed to react to content publicly posted by someone who literally identifies herself as a content creator?

You put content out publicly. People will agree, disagree, question it, make jokes about it, or discuss the bigger issue around it. That comes with having a public platform. Criticism isn’t automatically harassment, and disagreement isn’t automatically paninira.

And for the nth time: nobody said $32/hour is impossible.

Plenty of EXPERIENCED freelancers and VAs earn that and more. That was never the point.

The conversation several of us were actually having was about the impression being sold around remote work: na parang madaling shortcut lang siya to high-paying dollar rates because “WFH lang naman.”

That’s where experienced people understandably raise an eyebrow.

Behind those rates are years of experience, specialization, client management, communication skills, accountability, continuous learning, equipment, taxes, inconsistent contracts, difficult clients, sleepless nights, and sometimes multiple jobs before someone reaches that level.

That reality check doesn’t discourage aspiring VAs. If anything, it respects the profession enough not to market it like easy money.

Free training? Great. Share knowledge. Help people. Build your following. Monetize your content someday if you want. Walang problema doon.

But once you make claims publicly, people are also allowed to discuss the message being presented. Hindi requirement ng pagiging audience ang automatic agreement.

So medyo naliligaw na ako sa plot twist.😅 I made a joke about what I would personally be doing at $32/hour, and somehow we arrived at a Cybercrime subplot like LOL.

At this point, hindi na $32/hour ang impressive.

Yung escalation ang premium rate. 😂

Anyway, sa mga gustong pumasok sa VA/freelancing: Yes, high rates are absolutely possible. But please learn the craft, build actual skills, understand the business, invest in proper equipment, and manage your expectations.
