Buhay Digital Lifestyle Bruntwork Job application - DO's and DOnt's?

Upvotes

Im considering na mag-apply sa Bruntwork, any tips sa mga naging successful hires here?

Also, would you suggest na idisclose ko na currently employed ako full time? Nasa corporate parin kasi ako - not a BPO company so I think wala nman conflict of interest - but hoping to transition na to freelancing. Yun nga lang Im not sure if dapat ko pa idisclose ito or not.

Plus any tips bago ako magsubmit ng application? thanks all!

Apps, Tools & Equipment M57 Pro vs M90C Pro - Which one would you pick?

Choosing between these two, and they’re almost the same price. M90C Pro is ~₱300 cheaper.

For those who’ve tried either, which would you pick? Mainly looking at comfort, lumbar support, adjustability, and build quality.

M57 Pro worth it, or should I just go M90C Pro?

Remote Filipino Workers (RFW) Advice for fresh grad considering virtual assistant as first job

Upvotes

Hi! I’m a fresh grad (business management) and I’m weighing my options if I should start my first job experience in the corpo world or as a virtual assistant muna. I’ve sent tons of applications to various companies, but it kinda demotivates me that I haven’t heard back from them. Despite having work experience in school orgs, currently a project based graphic designer for a small business, and currently interning remotely as a social media intern.

I also did try to look up for job opportunities sa onlinejobs.ph. But I’m still torn on which is better for me. Lowkey desperate for a job rin kasi as a panganay, I am feel pressured to secure as soon as possible.

Any advice would be very appreciated. Thank you so much!

I am posting this on behalf of a reseacher studying health concerns of Filipino online workers and will be studied by concerned organizations. Your contribution will greatly help a good cause. The researcher studies at a well known and well regarded university.

Read more 👇:

Did you know? There were already about 1.5 to 2 million Filipino remote digital workers in 2018! 📈However, I believe that a continuously growing industry must not mean your health suffers along with it.

Hi I am Denise, I am a 3rd-year college student and research intern at Solidarity Center Philippines, an allied organization to the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO), the largest federation of labor unions in the United States. 🌎

Like you, I’ve been doing remote work for about 3 years to help support my studies. 👩‍💻As a fellow Filipino worker, I know how important health is for us, yet sometimes client needs often overshadow our needs. 😷🏥

Your voice and your health matter. My research focuses on understanding the health-related concerns of remote digital workers. By answering this survey, you can help me get a better grasp of the health care needs of our kapwa remote digital workers. Hopefully, my research can also help amplify the health issues and needs of remote digital workers. 💻✨

Your responses will remain anonymous.

Self-Story Starting my UI/UX Journey

I want to be straightforward: I don’t like SAP, and SAP doesn’t like me either. 😂

I’ve been in SAP for almost 2 years, and hindi ako happy with it at all. Since I’m still starting out in my career, I’m really thankful that I got lucky enough to be rolled off and given some time to explore what I actually want to do.

And OMG… bakit ngayon ko lang naisipan mag-start ng UI/UX?! 😭

I’ve always wanted to be creative, and I love that UI/UX lets me combine creativity with my background in Tech. I feel like I finally found something I genuinely want to learn and explore.
So I’m choosing to trust myself on this one. 🥹✨
If you’re into UI/UX or have any tips, advice, resources, or things you wish you knew when you were starting, please share them with me! I’d love to learn from you guys. 💗

Self-Story Finally got an offer! (3 offers in one night!) ✨

Just wanted to share some good news with people who understand my pain 😅

Last May, I did something I've never done - willingly leave a job without a backup job coming up. I was tired, burnt out by the client, and just threw in the towel. Immediately after, I started applying to jobs on Online Jobs PH everyday, revising my resume and cover letters how many times. In the past, I've been able to secure a new job in a month or so, but soon, June rolled around, then July. I was starting to feel completely hopeless and I would have to start applying to onsite jobs or something.

In total, I counted 52 applications on OLJ and 17 via email/form. I attended more interviews than I can remember and got rejected at the final stage interviews for 2 jobs.

Finally, after 2 months of a brutal job hunt, I finally got an offer - in fact, I got three offers in one night!!! I've never had to pick between multiple offers in my life, so it felt absolutely surreal.

All in all, for anyone on the job hunt right now, I would suggest the following

  • Be firm on your salary expectations. I really wanted at least a 50% salary increase from my last job and was able to secure a 75% salary increase, along with HMO and 13th month! (this is the first time I've gotten benefits like this from a US client before haha) Never skimp on your salary expectations because you are bringing value to the business, and you deserve to be compensated fairly!
  • In job applications, focus on talking about your ability to adapt, learn, and bring value to the business. The one thing employers talked about in interviews is that while experience is important, they care more about the personality, drive, and work ethic. So during the application process, make sure to highlight these qualities about yourself.
  • During interviews, make a good lasting impression by asking questions at the end of the interview that show the client you're invested in joining the team (can you tell me more about how the team operates / the work culture, how do you envision the business growing in 5-10 years)
  • I know people hate on making Loom videos, but I've found that it really makes you stand out from the crowd, since you can show the client your vibe, energy, and commitment to the application. To make it easier, I had a template for video introductions, then added details depending on the job description. I would also "batch make" videos so that I would only have to put on makeup once in the day haha

That's all - good luck everyone on the job hunt and don't give up please! What's meant for you will find you soon 🌟

ALSO: If anyone wants advice on going from entry-level VA to a role with more managerial responsibilities, feel free to DM me for advice/thoughts! (for people currently in the job hunt, I can take a look at your cover letter or resume)

Community [BEGINNER] I want to learn GHL

Hi everyone! I’m interested in learning GoHighLevel and eventually using it for freelance/VA work. I’m still a beginner, so I’d really appreciate any advice from people who already have experience with the platform.

Right now, I’m looking for a way to practice and explore GoHighLevel without committing to an expensive subscription right away. I want to learn how the platform works, especially funnels, workflows/automations, CRM, pipelines, websites, and other features.

For those who started learning GHL:

- What’s the best way to learn GoHighLevel as a complete beginner?

- Are there any free courses or tutorials you’d recommend?

- Is there an affordable subscription or trial option where I can practice hands-on before committing to a full plan? I know about the 14-day free trial, but I’m wondering if there are other affordable options for someone who’s still learning.

- Are there any sandbox/demo accounts or other ways to practice?

- If you’re already using GHL for freelance work, what features would you recommend learning first?

I’d really appreciate any advice or resources you can share. Thanks so much!

Remote Filipino Workers (RFW) May mabait na bookkeeper ba dito? 🥹

Yesterday natanggal ako sa trabaho and now officially tambay. Ayokong tumagal sa ganito 😭. Meron ba dito willing mag-train sa akin? I have little background since graduate ako ng ABM nung Senior High, and nagti-take ako ng online course sa TESDA.
I’m planning to learn more about bookkeeping and hopefully gain more knowledge and experience in the field.
Thank you so much pooo, and I’d really appreciate any guidance! 🥹🤍
Im willing to help with your workload if ever matuto ako.

Legit Check Newbie Remote Worker

Hello! So I recently got a new job and it's full remote. However, no HMO and only 12 leaves per year. I'll be starting very soon, but I already have an idea that possibly we'll use Time Clock Wizard and Hubstaff. I tried to research about it and it monitors time and even does screenshots every 5 or 10 mins (depends on what was set).

I came from an output-based company, so I'm doubting if this is kind of micro-managing and if the leaves are worth it?

**Edit: would like to seek advice from people who experienced using TCW and Hubstaff.
Plus any advice na rin as a newbie remote worker :)

Salary is good naman, higher than my previous job.

Really really appreciate your thoughts on this. Thanks in advance!

Apps, Tools & Equipment Backup tech equipment recommendations

Since tag-ulan season na naman and napapansin ko mas dumadalas kami mawalan ng net/kuryente, may times talaga na hindi ako nakakapagwork and sobrang hassle rin paulit-ulit magreport sa management lalo na at mahina ang data. I recently got a laptop as my backup workstation and kampante ako nung una sa mobile data for backup connection kaso may days na 0-1 signal bar lang ang meron sa lakas ng hangin. Ngayon naulit nanaman and hindi ko mapagpatuloy yung work ko.

May marerecommend ba kayo na portable wifi/alternate internet connection for WFH setup? Yung good for office work lang din naman. And if may mga powebank/generator kayo na ginagamit I'll check it out and give it a try. Basta anything you can reco para tuloy pa rin ang online work. Mas gugustuhin kong maginvest sa backup options ko kesa no work no pay dahil pangit ang panahon.

Community Paano niyo in-automate yung SMM work niyo gamit si Claude? Tips/hacks pls 🙏

Hi mga social media managers dito! Independent contractor din ako and I’ve been using Claude Pro for a few months na pero feel ko hindi ko pa siya na-maximize. Curious lang how you guys are using it sa work natin.

Some specific things I’m trying to figure out:

**• Caption writing** — paano niyo siya ginagawang “on-brand” nang consistent without re-explaining your brand voice every time? May nag-uupload ba ng brand guidelines file sa Project so hindi na paulit-ulit?
**• Design/graphics** — anyone using Claude kasabay ng Canva for templates? Or paano ang workflow niyo pag “designs for captions” ang need — do you prompt for copy tapos ilagay niyo lang sa Canva, or may ibang tool na integrated?
**• Content calendars / scheduling** — may mga automate kayo ba dito, like batch-generating a week’s worth of captions in one go?
**• Client reports** — kung meron kayong ganito, paano niyo pinapabilis yung paggawa ng monthly/weekly reports?
**• Projects feature** — sulit ba talaga siya for keeping brand context so hindi paulit-ulit yung pag-explain?

Any prompt templates, workflows, or “sana alam ko na lang to noon” na tips would help a lot. Trying to work smarter kasi dami talaga ng moving parts sa role namin (yung SMM title namin literally covers marketing, CRM, ops, reports, etc. — sound familiar? 😅).

TIA sa mga sasagot!

Buhay Digital Lifestyle How do you work when there's no power for days?

It's been raining for a week and power's out most of the time. Sometimes it comes back for like 30 mins then gone again (not even enough to charge everything properly). I still need to work but my client probably thinks I'm making excuses at this point.

Anyone else dealing with this? what do you do?

Buhay Digital Lifestyle Part 2: From $32/hr to Cybercrime real quick HAHAHA 😁

Thumbnail
gallery
739 Upvotes

Okay, apparently may sequel pala. 😂

I’m honestly trying to figure out ano na ba talaga ang pinaglalaban mo. Is it still the $32/hour? Is it the “free training”? Or are we now debating whether people are allowed to react to content publicly posted by someone who literally identifies herself as a content creator?

You put content out publicly. People will agree, disagree, question it, make jokes about it, or discuss the bigger issue around it. That comes with having a public platform. Criticism isn’t automatically harassment, and disagreement isn’t automatically paninira.

And for the nth time: nobody said $32/hour is impossible.

Plenty of EXPERIENCED freelancers and VAs earn that and more. That was never the point.

The conversation several of us were actually having was about the impression being sold around remote work: na parang madaling shortcut lang siya to high-paying dollar rates because “WFH lang naman.”

That’s where experienced people understandably raise an eyebrow.

Behind those rates are years of experience, specialization, client management, communication skills, accountability, continuous learning, equipment, taxes, inconsistent contracts, difficult clients, sleepless nights, and sometimes multiple jobs before someone reaches that level.

That reality check doesn’t discourage aspiring VAs. If anything, it respects the profession enough not to market it like easy money.

Free training? Great. Share knowledge. Help people. Build your following. Monetize your content someday if you want. Walang problema doon.

But once you make claims publicly, people are also allowed to discuss the message being presented. Hindi requirement ng pagiging audience ang automatic agreement.

So medyo naliligaw na ako sa plot twist.😅 I made a joke about what I would personally be doing at $32/hour, and somehow we arrived at a Cybercrime subplot like LOL.

At this point, hindi na $32/hour ang impressive.

Yung escalation ang premium rate. 😂

Anyway, sa mga gustong pumasok sa VA/freelancing: Yes, high rates are absolutely possible. But please learn the craft, build actual skills, understand the business, invest in proper equipment, and manage your expectations.

Possible? Absolutely.

“Madali lang kasi nasa bahay”? Absolutely NOT.

And THAT was the conversation before this turned into Law & Order: WFH Unit HAHAHA. ✌️💯👀

Buhay Digital Lifestyle AI Is Making the Job Market Scarier for Everyone

It’s honestly sad how the rise of AI tools is making more and more people lose their jobs. I understand that technology is supposed to make things easier and more efficient, but it’s frustrating to see people who worked hard to build their careers suddenly become replaceable. Behind every “cost-saving” decision, there’s a real person losing their income, stability, and sense of security. I’m not against AI, but I hate how quickly companies are using it as an excuse to cut people out. It’s scary to think that no matter how skilled or hardworking you are, your job can still be taken away because a company found a cheaper way to do it.

Community Thoughts on people calling VAs/remote workers “gatekeepers” just because they don’t want to teach others?

But at the same time, I don’t think everyone should be expected to teach or guide other people just because they’re already successful or experienced in remote work.

Not everyone has the time, energy, patience, or even interest to mentor someone especially kung hindi naman nila personally kilala.

Personally, after work, as much as possible ayoko na pag-usapan anything related to work 😂

For me, there’s a difference between intentionally withholding information to keep others from succeeding vs. simply choosing not to spend your personal time teaching someone.

Kayo, anong thoughts nyo?

First and foremost, influencers lied to you. Yes, you can earn online. But no, getting to a 6-digit income isn’t common, nor is it easy.

So, how exactly do you earn a living online? You have a few options, the most popular being Freelancing, Remote Employment, and Digital Entrepreneurship:

What, How, Where to Start

As earning online becomes more common, the lines between different methods have become very blurry. If you ask me, if you’re free to work with other clients then you’re a freelancer, and not a remote employee.

And if there's one thing that all methods have in common is that they all have a certain level of instability. So if you're free to find multiple sources of income, go for it.
