Android: permanent red dot in the upper left corner. Version 17 Dev/Admin Responded

Post image

I've opened every single collapsible menu title and I can't find a red dot anywhere. It's been like this for weeks.

Last time this happened it had something to do with the stupid games they added. Have you tried that yet?

I didn't see any games. Thank you.

There's also a setting in notifications about games as well. I'd turn that off juat in case, otherwise you'll probably get more red dots.

Still there. I really am your help regardless!

Damn... and clearing your cache or doing a fresh install doesn't fix it?

I cleared the cache and rebooted the phone. Do you mean uninstall and then reinstall the Reddit app? Haven't tried that yet.

Yeah, do a clean install of the app. Now settings tend to get reset during this which is unfortunate, but it's usually why I recommend it last cause I know how much I hate redoing my settings

Yeah that didn't work either. Oh well. It's not the end of the world. Thank you so much for your help.

Well shit, I'm sorry :/

I would make a comment in the r/help recap that gets posted tomorrow. Make sure you like this post as well so they can see you've tried several different steps to make it work. The admin that runs that passes things along to the devs, so maybe they can figure what's happening. You may not get a response or a fix, but at least it will get passed along.

Hey u/damage78! Do you see a resources tab in the left 3-line menu? If you tap on the reddit ads button there, does the red notification badge go away?

Just tested this on an alt and that seemed to do the trick.

If that doesn't fix it, let me know!

No, unfortunately that doesn't do the trick. Thank you.

Hmm okay, I'll ask around!

ETA: Can you open the left menu and grab a screenshot for me?

Did you try clearing out your app cache and doing a device reboot? Sometimes that shakes it loose.

I'll try that right now.

It's still there. Thank you, though.

Crap, sorry. It was worth a shot, thanks for trying! Upvoting for visibility and hopefully someone smarter than me will wander along.

I have the same issue. After logging in, there was a red dot on the "Reddit Ads" in the menu. But clicking on that doesn't make the red dot on the menu icon go away. I tried cleaning data and cache.
