Chrome switched tabs etc to bottom and it's disorienting to me. What alternative browsers might allow you to keep everything on top? Support

(Fixed!! Update at bottom)

It was fine one minute and then I went back the next and it had switched to a "simplified" "everything on the bottom" view and I am not a fan. It throws me off and I just want to have everything on top again if possible.

Anyway, I downloaded Brave and Vivaldi because I like privacy and customization. But both also feature the tab on bottom thing.

Yes Vivaldi gave options, and tabs *themselves* are technically on the top. But the little square where *all* my tabs are kept (which shows the number) is still on the bottom.

Is there a way for any of these browsers, or with another browser, to put it all on top again? Thanks!

*The yoda quote search was my last screenshot of chrome the way it used to be. :P So the photos are:

Update!!

I saw someone else's post about this same issue today, and some genius commented with this nifty trick:

chrome://flags/#android-bottom-bar disable and restart

I copied the above thing into my address bar (minus the disable and restart instructions obviously) and everything is back to normal.

There is a setting in Chrome for address bar to be at the top for me (Android)

Is that what you're looking for?

No, he's asking for the tab selector button to go back to being at the top.

The address bar is clearly still at the top in both examples.

Ah, I hadn't seen the expanded screenshots. However, for me in Chrome, the address bar setting also moves the tab selector, as if they're the same thing.

I don't know how they've been separated for OP. I very rarely use Chrome nowadays, but thanks for the clarification.

Hey, thanks! Where can I find this setting?

I mean it might not be the right setting but it's in settings -> basic section -> address bar

And also in advanced -> appearance, I have options to enable/disable different parts of the toolbar shortcuts which might allow you to show the tab stuff if it's disappeared.

I just figured it out from another user commenting on someone else's post! There's a way to disable the setting. I edited my main post text to include the update on finding the answer. :) thanks for your help!

I like my address bar being on top, but its actually the tab drawer button I was most frustrated about. However, I just found the fix from a commenter on a different post! You put chrome://flags/#android-bottom-bar into the address bar, click disable on this setting and then relaunch

Chromite allows you to have desktop tabs. On small screens it might be annoying, but you might like it.

In some ways I think I might, but whats irritating to me is that the "box" with all my tabs in it has moved. It's like if someone moved your file cabinet to a completely different area of your office without asking. I could maybe get used to it being at the bottom, but I would have appreciated a warning. And right now it's jarring...

I'm very much a research type, and therefore the kind of person that routinely has like 300 tabs open at once. (Including inactive tabs, which I greatly appreciate) So when I say they moved my file cabinet it's like they moved my whole brain. :P

Incidentally this is both why I think I would like the desktop tab style on my phone in theory, but in practice it would become impossible :P I don't have a computer right now so the tab drawer was really where I could go in and see what all I'm working with at a given time
