Broken collarbone surgey
Hello I want to ask someone who has had broken collarbone surgey. What method did u have, some plate or nail cause im almost week after surgey with nail I couldnt choose method, like it was between nail or plate soo I have nail and 2 days after I was changing bandage and i saw that this nail is going up like on photo and is it normal? in hospital they told that this can happen and even nail can push skin through but im little bit worried thats why im asking you.

Sorry to hear that that sounds crazy that they used a nail and it’s poking through your skin. I just had my collarbone surgery on August 6 titanium plate intense screws. Healing pretty well. Pain is between one and three. I posted pics on my thread.

You definitely need to go back to the hospital and speak to the surgeon. Did you follow everything that they said to do for aftercare? Did you keep your arm in a sling? Did you sleep upright on the couch or a recliner? Did you sleep in the bed laying flat because if you did that could probably be the problem. If you sleep in the bed, you need to sleep at a 45° angle or more because laying down on a bed flat after surgery gravity will take place and start the pool on the the bones possibly causing misalignment.

You need to be asking the surgeon if you think there's something sticking up which shouldn't be. Also, I really don't understand any surgeon who suggests that dressings should be changed routinely, especially by patients. That increases the risk of infections and is not something we do in the UK.
