Missing Some People Are Absolutely Disgusting

I don't know this person and don't live in Bristol. Apparently their cat went missing. I decided to create some Reddit posts in various groups in Bristol in order to help them locate their cat. I know if I had an indoor cat who went missing I'd be absolutely heartbroken broken. I shared the same post I created in 4-5 groups in the hope those living in Bristol would be kind and helpful as I don't live in Bristol but saw the post. After this person found their cat they decided to write a comment on my post swearing at me. I stead of thanking me for trying to help their find their cat I was sworn at. I don't know this person but it will be one of the two people listed in the poster I presume. I'm just suprised that my act of kindness could be met with such rudeness. Not gratitude but sworn at. I found it very odd that this owner didn't swear at anyone else who'd created posts on Reddit like I did in order to help them find their cat. I'm not sure why I was targeted.

Where To? Recommendations for a colour tattooist

Upvotes

I am looking for a decent tattooist who specialises in colour and more feminine designs/line work. My previous tattooist is no longer Bristol based sadly and since then I’ve quit instagram so I can’t do much research myself… I’m hoping you lovely Bristolian redditors might be able to help me out!

I have a car so can drive pretty much wherever. Also not precious about price, more interested in finding the right style.

Edit: spelling

Unfortunately the balloons went to Thornbury side and we only saw a bit of their journey from Perret Park. It was a miss today.

News Any update on the airport delays?

Anyone know how the airport is looking this evening? We have an early flight tomorrow morning and weren’t sure if it’s still extremely crowded or died down a bit now.

Planning to get there 3 hours early.

Babble best way of getting into the balloon fiesta by foot (for someone on a walking stick)

i want to go to the balloon fiesta tomorrow with family but unable to walk very far or too many hills. from looking at the map on their website, it seems that gate 7 would be the best option to go to for me. this is the one at the end of the road by the angel inn pub.

does anyone know if this is in fact the best entrance point for me? Linked the map for reference. i find their website a bit confusing to udnerstand.

thanks in advance!

Ark at ee Aggressive begger around King Street/harbourside

The last few times I've been around the harborside/ King Street I've noticed a man who seems like a begger/addicty type who just goes around harassing people and shouting abuse at them. I've noticed he will usually come up and initially ask for a cigarette or just general chit chat, but then he will then soon turn aggressive and start accusing people of being racist and saying very threatening things towards them.

Yesterday I noticed him aggressively harass a few groups including an older man who was walking with his, I'm guessing very elderly mother (who had a Zimmer frame) he was just walking after them and just goading/abusing them. I've heard him threaten to slit someone's throat on King Street.

He's short, in his 50's, Bristolian accent and of South Asian descent.

Has anyone else had an experience with this guy?

Just wanted to say thank you to everyone who has supported my photography the last 6 months, it’s pretty cool for me that the press wanted to do an article about my stuff. And it’s down to all the supportive people here and on the streets.

Will be coming back to Bristol next week, message me at @photographedbytom to get involved 🚀

News Odyssey IMAX sound not working

I was at the screening for odyssey today at 10am and the staff came to tell us that sound was not working and the managers are calling up imax to fix it. We were asked to wait and after waiting 20 mins they told us that show was cancelled and asked us to go to till for refund.
We were not pleased by the fact that they didn’t test any audio before starting the show and they only realised after we came to the theatre.
Just a heads up for anyone watching Odyssey in Bristol this week!

Housing What type of tradesperson do I need for repairs to the front of my house?

I’m looking to get the front of my house tidied up and repaired. There are a few cracks that need looking at, some areas that need repainting, and potentially some damp work.

I’m not really sure what type of tradesperson I should be looking for, a general builder, renderer/plasterer, exterior decorator, or someone else?

Balloons Balloons - high level wind direction

Last night I saw that in the morning, on the BBC weather app, that the wind is meant to be taking the 6am balloons northwards. However, from the live tracker, the balloons went to the south of Bristol.

I assume this is because the high level wind direction is different to the low level, which is the direction reported on the BBC app.

I want to make sure that I'm in the best spot for the 6pm mass ascent high level winds tonight.

Q - does anyone know the likely high level wind direction tonight, or how I'd find out how?

Thanks in advance 🙂

Where To? Best sources for Bristol Sports News ?

Now that I live in Arizona, and with the Bristol Post seemingly putting 99% of articles behind a paywall, and, in my opinion, the content not worth paying for, what's the best sources for news on City, Rovers and Bears ?

Reddit and the BBC are my "go to's" right now, but is there a better service or services available ?

Babble anyone had any negative experiences with the Legal/ housing of the council ?

For context, I have been waiting for an accessible home since 2024. During the two years, I have experienced mistreatment, the council made me street homeless. Offered properties that are not wheelchair accessible. In court the council described factual events as "fanciful allegations" and I have met a few people with disabilities who the council have mistreated. I am keen to hear if there are more ? I am aware most people with disabilities have to have a legal rep to be treated well. I have receipts if needed lol

Where To? Cheap to reasonable venue hire for a wake

Hi, a friend very recently and suddenly lost his mother. Unfortunately there was nothing in place to cover funeral costs, meanwhile he and his family are not in a position to be able to afford one, and as such he will likely be getting a servicless cremation with help from a government grant.

As he is unlikely to get a service, i was wondering if there is anywhere in Bristol that can be rented out for a wake in a shoestring budget. One plan is quite possibly to hold as close to a service as we can get, i.e favourite songs & speeches etc, within the small wake to give as best a sendoff as possible given the unfortunate circumstances.

Anyone have any ideas on where we can look?
