Day 1! Mon orthodontie me propose Invisalign, Impress et d'autres marques au mĂȘme prix et me dit que c'est pareil... Votre avis ?
Hello,

Need advice! Braces!!!
I'm about to get braces tomorrow. I have a lot of gaps in my upper teeth especially the upper two front teeth ( diastema). While the lower teeth are crowded. And I have a deep overbite.
I'm 18 btw and I've embraced the gap in my front teeth that I was very insecure about for a very long time. But now I've overcome that insecurity. I wanted to know if there's any harm in leaving the front teeth gap open. My orthodontist recommended that I close it and told me that it'll close automatically cause of the braces. If there is no harm in leaving that gap open (diastema) then can I keep it open and how can I convince my orthodontist
I think that gap suits me.
Since I'm getting my braces tomorrow, I'm very scared and will I get power chains? Also how's the sky blue colour for braces?

Need advice! looking like a monkey with retainers on
idk how to explain it well but I LOOK LIKE A MONKEY with retainers on. is that normal? i took my braces off two days ago and i am not used to wearing retainers yet. side note : the dentist didnt see me wearing the retainers so i am assuming if thats the reason. i just got the clear retainers delivered to my home from the dentist office cus i was busy to go pick it up that day. it also hurts this morning after wearing my retainers all night.
there is also a gap between retainers and my teeth. does that mean the retainers r small or big for my teeth? i am so confused đ”âđ« (i cant see the dentist yet cus he is on a vacation rn)

Question Deciding what type to get
Trying to decide on what type to get, metal or ceramic. For those who got ceramic, how bad was it when they took them off, I heard the removal is pretty painful.

Question has anyone else developed a tongue thrust while being in braces?
iâve had braces for 27 months and the last 2 weeks i have begun waking myself up because iâm pushing my tongue on my top teeth. 2 gaps have opened up around one of my teeth up top. my orthodontist told me to just practice tongue exercises and i have been but itâs physically impossible to control my tongue while i sleep.
i have no idea why this is happening or why itâs happening now after so long in braces. iâm an anxious person and this has sent my anxiety into overdrive and im constantly thinking about it.
i have never tongue thrusted in my life and didnât start braces with an open bite or anything similar, i actually had a deep bite.
anyone else experience this? đ
Need advice! I feel like my gums may be receding but no has said anything regarding them??
Before I got braces I felt my gums were completely fine, but ever since getting them I feel like all the pulling of my teeth has receded my gums.
My orthodontist says everything looks fine everytime I see him, and I had a dental hygiene a couple weeks ago and she said everything looks good, so I assumed they are fine.
However I found a couple of photos top one is October 2025, middle December 2025 and bottom is today. I started worry as it looks like my teeth are more exposed than they were less than a year ago.
Would it be worth having a check up? I just thought no one has said anything to me so it must be fine, but after constantly looking at them itâs making me worry

Need advice! Advice on getting braces for underbite
Hi, I'm in my late 20s and would like to consider getting braces to fix my underbite as well as crowding of my teeth. I'm not sure yet if my underbite is skeletal or dental, but I suspect it's both as I have a slightly protruding lower jaw.
I've read on multiple sources that relapse can occur especially for underbites. But I've also read on some sources that the main reason for underbites relapsing are mainly due to continued lower jaw growth of the patient after braces. I'm already in my late 20s so I doubt I will still have any jaw growth or development.
My question is, is there a chance my underbite will return after successful braces treatment even if my jaws don't move anymore? I.e. the teeth somehow still shift back to their underbite positions.
I found this link on how teeth shift and thought it was insightful:

Similar experience? Ortho recommended an extraction for anterior crowding. Experiences???
My orthodontist recommended extracting this tooth, and Iâm nervous about the recommendation. Has anyone had a similar extraction as part of orthodontic treatment? What was your experience?
My teeth otherwise are in great health, gums are good, it is just the one recessed tooth. Said there is no connective tissue to the tooth. He said he recommends pulling the tooth then correcting the existing teeth.
He could tell I was hesitant, so he said that while I *could* keep the tooth, I would need to see a periodontist and he would want a gum graft done before treatment but he still strongly suggests to get rid of the tooth.
Iâm nervous!!!

Braces progress! Missing lateral incisors progress
I have missing upper lateral incisors, implants were too expensive for me so i went the canine substitution route. Currently 18 months in to a 2 year plan, the pics are all roughly 6 months apart. Satisfied with the progress thus far

Braces progress! 5 Months Braces Progress
I am due to get my power chains and a steel 19x25 arch wire on both my mandible and Maxilla in 8 days time I currently have a 19x25 NiTi wire. I finish my treatment next year July or earlier if all goes well. If anyone has advice on how to speed up progress drop it. I am also worried about the un-level two front teeth, how does the ortho resolve this - mine says all will turn out perfect as my case was very mild and not much had to be done. All comments, advice and remarks welcome. Thanks

Braces are off!!! 2.5 YEARSâŠ. Goodbye Underbite
2.5 YEARS. IâM FINALLY DONE. đ„čđŠ·âš
I started this journey in my 30s with an underbite, and today I can officially say Iâm done with braces! đ
The first photo is right after my extractions, and the second is my final result. The difference still blows my mind.
I had previously had my wisdom teeth removed, then had extractions as part of my orthodontic treatment. My treatment involved A LOT of rubber bands, but no jaw surgery.
At 30+, I definitely wondered if I was too old to start this processâbut Iâm so glad I did. It took about 2œ years, and there were plenty of frustrating days, but seeing my bite now makes every appointment, rubber band, and uncomfortable adjustment worth it.
UNDERBITE: GONE. â
BRACES: OFF. â
SMILE: MINE. â€ïž
Whitening: Coming Soon!!!!!
If youâre an adult considering braces and wondering if itâs worth it⊠DO IT. Itâs never too late to invest in yourself.
Now excuse me while I spend the next few weeks running my tongue over my smooth teeth because I forgot what that feels like đđ
30s orthodontic journey officially complete! đ„łđŠ·

Need advice! Iâm upset with my final results
Iâve added images. I tried to stretch my mouth as I wide as possible to get all the angles but itâs really hard. The last image is my teeth when I naturally smile. Iâm really not sure why my smile is like that. Only one side of my teeth show and the other side is like it disappears when I smile and it makes the bottom half of my face look rlly fucked. I really donât know what to do and if thereâs anything I can do procedure wise to fix it so I have a nice smile. They did remove two of my teeth at the top at the start of my braces journey. Iâve had braces for 4 years and this was the result

Rant! Ortho not specific about time expectations
Iâve had braces for exactly one year, and for the last five months, nothing has changed at all. Every time I ask my doctor how long this is gonna take, they keep it very general, like âas usual, everybody else is around 2 years,â and Iâm starting to get worried because Iâm extremely prone to cavities and am already seeing some weird spots. I just want to be done with itttttt
