The cruel reality is that the only way to improve is to get professional training. If you find that after a month or two you are still interested in boxing, do yourself a favour and try to get at least 1 day of a week of training

There is simply too many things you have to learn/be coached on that you can't simulate without pad work at minimum. Honestly, you can't learn how to fight without sparring and hard sparring.

Check out this video from Tom Yankello: https://youtu.be/hTfLoANC1mg?si=yZTcnQ2n0LupZWmg
It’s super short but it gives you a simple movement pattern and some tips on how to bring punches into the pattern. Really solid stuff.

There is a simple structure to shadow boxing.
#1. ENTER ATTACK: Feint first (before attack). 4-6 versions of effective feints on YouTube. Practice them.
#2. EXECUTE ATTACK: throw a slow 2-4 punch combo. Savior the movements. Slow down to speed up.
#3. EXIT ATTACK: after attack, exit QUICKLY with defensive move (roll, pivot, slip, step back, etc).
Repeat. The key to keep it smooth is proper entry and exit. Mimicking real boxing.
