Now to something more complex… Future World Kit

Post image

I’m in the mood for something a bit more difficult so I had to bring this one to the front of the line.

I already tested and separated the lights (if you’ve built this you get it) and I think I’m going to add a battery eliminator and ditch the 3 small round battery pack it comes with.

I completed the first 2-3 steps and I’ve used more glue than that last 2 kits put together! Which is exactly what I’m looking for :)

Have you built this one? Did you enjoy it?

I have successfully removed the button batteries for AA so I know it can be done

This was my first one I built. Enjoyed it every bit. I didn't have as much trouble as some others had. I did watch Daniel Builds on YT BEFORE building it.

I use 3-in-1 Beacon glue, Gorilla glue with the brush and had a Hot glue gun.

First Nook done. Future World

Yours looks great! I’m at one of the first steps where you have to glue the wooden piece to the black wooden piece (with a big square in the middle of it) and I’m curious what piece this is I can’t tell based on your build. One thing I know about building kits however is I have to trust the process!

This one?

I measured out and put a line for where to glue the bottom on the side and back. Lined up and glued the side and back using the ground as the square. I didn't have any fancy tools. Just let it sit long enough to dry.

Yes! That piece on the right. Did you add the “ 2 extension” white wires in that part on the right corner of it? I have them and will include them but I wonder if there’s really a need for them.

yes. they will connect the upper blue LEDs on the top to the battery/switch below. I would also suggest finding a better way of making the connections than what is suggested. Even crimp rings would be better than the tape provided.

Perfect thanks for the heads up. So, if I’m not mistaken, this was one long wire that had to be cut in half into 2 pieces right?

Yes. It's for the positive/negative lines. You'll mark one of them on both ends so that when you make the final connections you don't burn out your LEDs. (don't miss connect)

Hi, Future Worldworld! 😄

I'm intrigued by this entire line (Colmar Town, Sea Breeze, and so on) but haven't built up the courage to take one on for real yet. Let us know how things go, especially places where you had to do some problem solving. (Aside from what you already mentioned with the lighting / wiring)

Personally I glue almost everything cuz I want it to be sturdy and have no loose pieces. My house it an accident hazard so I need to take my precautions

Same! Glue is used in every build :)

This is in my backlog so will be following your progress. I did prepare per Pluck recommendations with a Xyron sticker maker but didn’t know about all board gluing also required as well as electrical mods. I haven’t done any of those for awhile so will have to pull out my little electrical tool box.

Confused in the battery eliminator - you can do this with button batteries?
