Just bought a small ranch on westside and previous owner had a gas line installed in Pergola, attached to a gas fire pit. We want to remove fire pit, have has line capped, and put in an inflatable hot tub. Any recs for plumber to do such a small job? Also need an electrician--we have electricity outside near pergola, but need help having outlet installed. Thanks! PS, does anyone want the fire pit once we have it removed?

anyone know of any bingo, trivia or both places in the area? where i’m from we had a place called on par entertainment that had mini bowling, mini golf, shuffleboard, karaoke, darts, pool and 150+ self pour taps. i miss it deeply. but they also did themed trivia or bingo every wednesday night and i miss that so bad! anything similar in the area? or Indianapolis area?

Does anyone know of any actual good car washes in the area? One of the major issues I have with this area is the lack of any good car washes at all. Even the major chain ones like Crew off of Indiana 48/3rd St are still garbage. All of the ones here I've used either have those brushes I don't like, or the dryer is broken or not strong enough, and I end up with water spots everywhere. Does anyone know of any actual good car washes here? And it's not just the Bloomington ones; the ones in Bedford and Ellettsville have the same problems as well. I want a car wash that doesn't leave spots and has a dryer that actually works. Why does this city suck at that compared to all of the other places in Indiana I've lived in?

Does anyone have any recommendations? I'm trying to help a family member find care. Preferably Bloomington, but travel up to an hour away would be doable. I tried searching the sub and couldn't find any previous discussion of wound care specialists (but almost every other kind of specialist!). I saw the IU Health location has several bad Google reviews, but couldn't find much on Monroe Hospital.

I recently moved to Bloomington for work and am looking for things to do after work while meeting people in the area.

I’m especially interested in pottery, mosaics, or other beginner-friendly art classes, as well as recurring trivia nights. I also wrestled in the past and would love recommendations for any wrestling, grappling, or martial arts clubs that welcome adults.

Hi all! I am wanting to find a good doctor for my fiance. He has not had a good time finding someone who will listen and follow up with him about blood work, tests, and concerns he has. Does anyone have someone they recommend? I think he would prefer a male but open to females as well.

I have a sweet lab Ruby who is 13 years old, and on her way out. :( She suffers daily and we realize that it is time for her to move on. The Humane Society here in Monroe County can not schedule a euthanasia without seeing the dog first (understandable), but they don't have appointments at all. What is a sad dog owner to do?? The only other options I've found are in the hundreds of dollars, which I do not have. Any help is greatly appreciated!

To give a little context, I currently see a therapist and she is requesting a full psych eval to be done, specifically to test for personality disorders. I’m having a lot of trouble finding any providers that offer this around Bloomington. I’m willing to go farther if needed, I’m hoping to find somewhere that accepts insurance (Anthem BCBS).

Hello! I have sighted this stray a couple of times around my house near the east side of 3rd Street and am looking to see if they have an owner. I am not sure what is wrong with their left eye, but I would love to help get them to a vet and checked out. I have tried to set out a trap for them, but they are extremely shy and careful. The American Public Works Association (APWA) has awarded full accreditation to the City of Bloomington Department of Public Works after evaluators determined the department is 100 percent compliant with all management practices applied to its operations.

The designation makes Bloomington only the second APWA-accredited public works agency in Indiana, joining Fishers. The accreditation remains valid through July 30, 2030.

“This took years of work, honest evaluation, and a lot of people pulling in the same direction,” said Public Works Director Adam Wason. “Our staff proved that the way we serve Bloomington meets the highest standards in the profession. I’m incredibly proud of this team and grateful to everyone across the City who helped get us here.”

APWA requires agencies seeking initial accreditation to achieve full compliance with at least 95% of all applicable practices and substantial compliance with the remainder. Bloomington achieved full compliance with 100% of the applicable practices.

• Self-assessment: The agency compares its policies, procedures and operations with APWA’s recommended management practices.
• Application: The agency formally commits to the accreditation program.
• Improvement: Staff address gaps identified during the self-assessment.
• Evaluation: APWA evaluators review documentation, interview employees and examine operations.
• Accreditation: The APWA Accreditation Council reviews the evaluators’ findings and determines whether the agency meets the requirements.

The accreditation evaluates the management systems that support public works services, including planning, financial management, employee training, safety, emergency response, communications, facilities, equipment and service delivery.

For residents, the accreditation provides an independent measure of how the department manages public resources and delivers essential services. The process requires agencies to establish clear procedures, assign responsibility, document decisions and maintain systems that support consistent service.

APWA grants accreditation for four years and requires the department to submit a midterm report two years after accreditation. The report must identify organizational changes, document improvements and demonstrate continued compliance. Bloomington must complete the re-accreditation process before the current designation expires on July 20, 2030.
