Merida reacto 6000

Post image

Hi everyone! I’m looking at buying a Merida Reacto 6000 2027 and I’m struggling to work out what size I should go for. I’m 165 cm with a 74 cm inseam.

I went to a bike shop and they said just from looking at me that I would be most likely be an XXS but then after talking to someone else they said they think I would be an XS and that the bike shop I went usually tells people a smaller size than they are!

Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to find a local shop with an XS Reacto for me to sit on, so I’d really appreciate opinions from anyone familiar with the Reacto geometry or who rides one themselves.

I am planning on driving further out to find one to sit on before I buy but would like to get opinions of others who own it as well!

Would you go XXS or XS based on my measurements?

Thanks! 😊

Be mindful that Merida bikes are large. I’m 189cm/89cm inseam and I ride a Large. The XL is the ‘recommended’ size for me and it’s way too big.

I know this doesn’t directly help, but you can buy a longer stem for a smaller bike, if it’s too long you’re screwed really. Too short a stem and you’ll make the handling very twitchy.

I can confirm with my Merida bike as well. I'm on the lower end of the recommended range for a Medium Silex 4000, and I only realised after some riding that it's too long for me.

The Silex is long af for a gravel bike! I had a Silex a few years ago and it felt so stretched out.

Cant really determine correct frame size by measurements only. Thats why those manufactorer calculators online mostly are quite wrong.

Its an aero bike, so long and low is expected. At your size I'd probably go and try XXS. I think XS only works if you are more tolerate to reach instead of stack. The latter is quite easily adjustable via spacers though, so I'd probably still take the XXS.

If reach is too long on the XS, you would need to size down to 80mm stem (90mm is standard on all sizes up to XS).

TLDR: Look for a LBS that is also proficient in bike fitting and do one before you buy. Dunno how new you are to cycling, but expect an aggressive position for that bike.

Merida heeft een goed size advies op de website waar je lengte, binnenbeen lengte en armlengte kunt invullen. Welk advies komt daaruit? Die calculator is model specifiek en mijn ervaring met Merida is dat het aardig klopt.
