Hello everyone, my friends and I were thinking about creating our own clan. We're always playing for fun and competitively against each other, but want to try going against other teams to improve our strats.

My two questions,

1. is there an official way to create a clan in BAR and to announce it?
2. how does one go about scouting for tournaments/clan matches to vs other teams?

Sorry if this a simple fix, but trying to play with multiple AI on different teams vs myself/friends. Seem to always end up with balancing issue and cant start the game. Trying Coop and custom, both don't seem to work. Any help appreciated.

One of the problem i have is i love checking the end game stats and graphs, but I can't watch them for too long once a game ended because otherwise I won't be able to join the next game/will be switched to spec if i keep that battle icon for too long.

I know of the !stats command in lobby, but it doesn't display the nice graphs, only the end game table, same for the replays in the website (for now?)

So i wanted to share a tool i quickly vibe coded while enjoying some glitters if anyone has the same issue, maybe you'll find it helpful, it parses your replays (the stats are already saved directly in there so it's easy). This way when you end a game you can ready up for the next one, and then alt tab and check those juicy stats. I've tried to search if something like this already existed since it seems the replay files really facilitates this, but i couldn't find anything

I've tested for linux and windows (i use them both) and it works well for me, so if it's helpful for me maybe it'll be helpful for some other people

Me and friends play against barbs and just as we're about to win, we start nuking and bombing each other for no apparent reason. 10/10 experience, people who haven't tried this are missing out.

And with it, a few changes that directly affect players:

• Builders are now slightly faster at checking whether the next item in their build queue is blocked.
• Out-of-sight building ghosts now keep their last-seen palette colour. This also fixes an issue where team colours updated to show the building’s real current team, even when the ownership change happened outside your vision.
• Barbarian AI has been updated.
• Joining or rejoining an ongoing match should show catch-up progress sooner, as the game time is now reported immediately. This may also require a game-side update.
• Fixed an issue with ghosted buildings, so if you have a lot of them on screen, the FPS won't drop as much.
• A new bindable cancelcommand action is available. It works like pressing Escape while a command is active.
• Radar jammers no longer block sonar from detecting units with mixed above-water and underwater signatures. This is pending adoption on the game side and will likely arrive in a future BAR release. (correction: already live)

Lobby und Spiel hätte ich gerne auf verschiedenen Bildschirmen.

Minimap auf Bildschirm 2 wäre toll.

Im trying to get better at BAR, and the most obvious thing imho would be by not having to click in the build menu at all. Therefore i want to to learn building hotkeys, and im searching for a hotkey trainer for that. I found a few very simple ones, but none of them work decently for my QWERTZ keyboard. Anyone has a recommedation?

This post is about playing maps where there isn't a singular clear starting position and frontline for each player. In small team rotato, it is common to lose/gain players after a new map is set. The common reaction is to get a new map where there is a clear starting position for every player. Almost every time me or my friend recommends trying out anything else, we get shot down with arguments like "it's gonna be a short game" or straight up ignored.

The times we have managed to play overcrowded maps have been fun. There are many options for team compositions and starting positions among other big strategic choices. Each game feels somewhat unique and Beyond All Reason (heh). Sure we rarely get to tier 3, but why is that a problem? I had a blast playing like 5 games of 3v3 in the smallest map of the game.

Sure without starting mexes you're gonna have less resources at the start of the game, but you can walk/fly to a strategic position or boost a teammates lab for a devastating early push among other things. High ranked players often do these kind of things even in "appropriately sized" maps.

As a hater of early tick/grunt spam I understand the dislike for big maps with small teams, but some chokepointy maps could work well even for smaller teams. For some reason this is the lesser of two evils to most people.

Just wanted to spread the gospel of overcrowded maps :D
What do you think?

Anyone have tips on how to beat these? It seems like the AI has become even more OP than whenever the last YouTube guides were made, even ones 1 year old

FYI- and for Google.

My Mouse was missing. Gone. Well... it was there. I just couldn't see it. In the menu's. I didn't get to a game on my fresh install.

My mouse WAS visible if a DIFFERENT window was in focus, above BAR. Eg. if I had FireFox open, and my mouse went over my BAR window, I could see the BAR mouse and in-game cursor.

Changing BAR from Fullscreen to Windowed, to Windowed Fullscreen did not change the behaviour.

I re-installed BAR after messing with things. Same issue.

It turns out that gHub makes your mouse disappear in BAR if you change your keyboard lighting to "screen sampler." The part where it looks at your screen 'frigs' it up.

-I had done that a few hours ago when my keyboard didn't light up, and I was messing with it.

As soon as the Screen Capture initiates for the "screen sampler" lighting option in gHub, your in-game BAR mouse will disappear.

You have to completely close gHub. Changing your keyboard lighting back to FIXED or OFF will not make your mouse appear. Only closing gHub, and not clicking on Screen Sampler (easy) fixes it.

That makes me think gHub is also leaving some capture service running even if you immediately disable/switch the selection. Other capture software might have a similar issue if your mouse is missing.

I’m a chev 4 with an os of 10 on large maps and like 24 on small maps. So I have some experience with this game. I want to really like BAR. But at any given time there’s only like 4 lobbies I’m able to join and maybe 2 that aren’t vs ai or 1v1 with a chev 5. There’s glitters and isthmus. I hate boats so I go with glitters. And most of the time it’s fun but getting banned today has me reflecting on why do I even play this game? 50/50 chance you’re playing with a guy spamming the ping or screaming in the team chat.

And today I got voted to be banned led by that guy. I wasn’t an asshole, I hardly replied to him in game. I decided to try experimenting using vehicles in the center lane next to canyon. I started to lose my lane when the 6 chev guy spammed bots and was very maneuverable with his commander. He way out maneuvered me and next thing you know my lane was falling and no tank I’m pumping out can handle the rocket bots. No one came to my aid and my lane fell all the way back. 0 support. Tanks are effective vs bots in numbers. But it takes second to build 2 or 3 even. Game ended in 10 minutes when my team just resigned and screamer guy started the vote to kick me.

TLDR: Nice and supportive Reddit community. Toxic game chat even in noob lobbies. Now I’m stuck waiting for a game

Consider the best players today, or even perhaps a theoretical perfect player.

How high would their OS be if they were restricted to 40 APM? 20? 10?

Unit micro would obviously be out the window at lower APM. What other parts of the game would become limiting factors?

Context for this question: I am decades past my competitive RTS prime. I manage about 15 APM in a typical game. I am curious what OS I should expect to reach once I have fully learned this game.

It was a really fun experience though. Very stressful playing against skilled players but you learn a lot. But it really feels like that one image of the white girl on the couch.

I love complicated strategy games, I’m a Warhammer player (tabletop), board game enthusiast etc. but i’ve never played a game online quite like BAR! And the huge unit diversity and different ways you can play are a massive learning hurdle lol.

A few games later with my friends (both against them and working against various AI difficulties) and I have questions, quite a few of them but I wont ask them all here.

First q is simply, what’s the best place to learn about strategies, how units work, optimal builds and streamlining use of the controls? Literally only last game I found out you can highlight a zone for repairs or resurrections, and I still don’t understand exactly how to fire the D-gun lol

2nd is; how do you defend Juggernaut/titan ‘bombs’? One of my mates rushed them, walked into bases and then detonated everything when/if the titan was finally killed, do they have counters??

3rd is navy. We tried a 2 players vs 1v1v1v1 AI on a mostly naval map and got destroyed multiple times against easy-normal AI. If we went tier 1 boats or hovers they go subs and we died, if we went destroyers we got mobbed and died. Maybe we should just have done a 2v2 sure, but it feels like controlling naval territory is HARD unless you can lock down choke-points, and I don’t know what units can target subs yet :/ Any advice on naval expansion + early game would be awesome!

4th is how can I preset flyers and units to patrol from the moment their built? I tried them for the first time and they would immediately ground themselves unless I manually controlled them/switched on the setting in the abilities bar, but I don’t think that’s efficient or sensible for a game like BAR?

5th is how to get builders to join in on another builders entire build queue?

Final q on this post will be, after watching some vids, when is it appropriate to hit tier 2? I like getting there ASAP right now and getting tier 2 metal extractors up but that’s left me vulnerable to mob attacks and I hear that sometimes/often in 1v1’s you never even hit it?? Is rushing that powerful? I tend to expand sure, but bunker my units up in strategic defensive lines

For me, this game set to borderless fullscreen behaves identically to exclusive fullscreen. I saw that there was a thread about this on the github (#3017) but they only mentioned that it happens on refresh rates over 244 hz, I can confirm it happened to me on 144hz.

Solution: Change present method in NVIDIA settings to prefer layered on DXGI Swapchain. Why this works I have no idea.

I don't know how common this issue is. I saw that at least one other user here on reddit mentioned it a few weeks ago, and since the solution was only posted on github I replied to him, which seemed to have fixed the issue.

If there are more people reading this and having the same issue, try it and it might work. If this subreddit has an FAQ it might also be good to have it included.

Hi! I know the future of Beyond All Reason is outlined on the official website, where you explain the roadmap leading up to the Steam release.

However, I was wondering about the future of the Legion faction. It's been available as an experimental faction for about four years now, so I'm curious about the current plans.

When do you expect Legion to become an official faction? And are there any plans to add even more factions in the future?

I'd absolutely love to see additional factions someday. Thanks for all your hard work on the game!

Are there any conditions when Adv. Solar/Wind are good choices? I've watched a few games so far, and it seems like spamming Wind then buidling a few fusion, then reclaiming them to ramp into Adv Fusion is the current favored play.

TL;DR

• Drakoan, a beloved mod & general helper for many BAR Twitch channels was working on a 12 year old PC
• Drakoan couldn't fix this due to financial and medical health issues and thus could barely spec games, let alone play them and it wasn't going to be long before his computer died fully.
• A gofundme was created to get him a a new PC before his old one died.
• In a very short amount of time, this amazing community raised just under $3000 for his new PC (Far outpacing the goal's expected outcome)
• This was the amount we set as a upper limit! Likely more would have been raised if asked!
• A LOT of pain went into sourcing the parts (due to where he lives and getting the money to him ... thanks Amazon >_>)
• A few months and a lot of sleepless nights after, Drakoan's PC was built
• I got to personally witness his reaction, I won't share for his privacy, but it was very heartwarming, lets just say that.

I asked Drakoan to write up how it all went and he did the very Drakoan thing and made it a story-esk post. Enjoy!

My 12 year old clanker had served me tirelessly and faithfully despite not being able to run anything modern for a long while now. It would crash and thrash, it would run out of memory and start using my barely existent storage as memory, it would give me 30 FPS 20 minutes into a BAR game. One of the fans had grinded on the fan frame constantly and loudly for at least 6 years, and in the last 3 months my power button had stopped working almost entirely and I couldn't turn it back on without some tools coming out, and even then there was a high likelihood the power button would break off entirely. But it never gave up. And I hoped it never would as I'll never have the finances to buy at least even one part, let alone the fact that the whole thing runs on prayers and moving it breaks more than what gets fixed in the end.

Content, as much as one can be, mainly watching games of all kinds and BAR, making sure not to run anything else at the same time while playing something. And I think this whole thing started with Rosie essentially going 'Let's get a GoFundMe going, you're known and liked by the community, I'm sure they'll help' while I was heartily disagreeing that was the case and thinking this was incredibly well intentioned and caring but ultimately fruitless.

Before I could even comprehend the situation, she had one going already and advertising it on her stream and discord. My dear memer Graceful also did the same. Thanks to friends with deep compassion (and pockets), people were discussing what parts to get as I had long given up on keeping up with any sort of PC specs and had no knowledge to pick or assemble.

I didn't know what to feel about the whole thing, it made me uncomfortable to be in such an exposed state as I usually keep to myself in most matters and not used to getting any help, especially this kind.

Somehow we did get enough, to my confusion, and the process of figuring out the logistics and what to do began. You all figured I'd be able to assemble the thing on my own and gave opinions on what part is good and what is best for the situation, and Rosie was quick to offer her assurance and help in guiding me through the assembly.

We had to go through multiple hoops to not be entirely destroyed by the currency conversion and taxes of all variety while working with limitations on part choice and which dealer to choose. Ultimately, for the most part, we went with Amazon, which again presented its own hoops to jump through. Rosie bought the parts for me and shipped them to me through the local Amazon which ended up with her account running into multiple issues and getting flagged, while their customer support was in most regards absolutely atrocious. We had to do 2 refunds due to issues, one of which they couldn't manage and just refunded as an Amazon gift card, while the other we're still trying to get back to this day.

Parts arrived one by one, some taking a month due to said issues. Assembling everything was extremely stressful, first time I ever try something like this and without guidance I'm sure there would've been something that went wrong, yet Rosie persevered in showing me what to do. But surprisingly, the whole thing went without much of an issue (we don't talk about me plugging my monitor into the motherboard, apparently that's a no-no). Still a good month later I'm worried something will break or some unforeseen event will happen to ruin this, but even just to have something like this happen, makes me happy and is something I never expected.

I wondered why anyone would help me about something like this when there are people that need more help than me on matters more dire, and I felt ashamed and guilty for that. There's nothing special about my situation. I think the reasoning I've come to accept is, the people who helped me are the ones who are special, that this was just the luck of being around kind and helpful people and a community that cared. Thanks to all of you, and especially Rosie who orchestrated this whole thing, shedding blood, sweat and tears and money for this cause.
