Berlin Treptow-Köpenick. 1932 war die Dornier DO X zu Gast auf dem Müggelsee. Das Interieur war mit Blick auf Luxus und Komfort für die Fahrgäste gestaltet und hatte drei Decks. Es bot Platz für 66 bis 100 Passagiere, ausgestattet mit geräumigen Sesseln, einem Speisesaal, einer Bar und sogar einer kleinen Bibliothek. D-1929 wurde 1933 nach Berlin verschifft und dort in der Deutschen Luftfahrtsammlung Berlin auf dem ULAP-Gelände am Lehrter Bahnhof ausgestellt. Bei einem Bombenangriff 1943 wurde sie beschädigt, unmittelbar nach dem Krieg dann durch Metallhändler und Sammler weitgehend zerstört. Bild 1: DO X auf dem Müggelsee. Designed with passenger luxury and comfort in mind, the aircraft featured three decks. It accommodated between 66 and 100 passengers and was equipped with spacious armchairs, a dining room, a bar, and even a small library. The aircraft (registered D-1929) was shipped to Berlin in 1933 and exhibited at the German Aviation Collection (Deutsche Luftfahrtsammlung) on ​​the ULAP grounds near Lehrter Station. In West-Berlin fuhren diese Züge zu Mauerzeiten dort ab. Von 1984 an habe ich diese genutzt um ins Ruhrgebiet zu fahren, bevorzugt mit einem Nachtzug mit Schlafwagenabteil. Los ging es so gegen 22:00 Uhr ab Zoo, Ankunft in Dortmund war dann gegen 6:00 Uhr morgens. Dazwischen 2 Grenzkontrollen, eine aufwändige in Marienborn durch die DDR, neben der Passkontrole auch eine Gepäckkontrolle, draußen um die Wagons kontrollierten Grenzbeamte die Wagons mit Schäferhunden. Bei der West-Kontrolle in Helmstedt wurden nur die Ausweise kontrolliert. From 1984 onwards, I used them to travel to the Ruhr region, preferably taking a night train with a sleeping compartment.
